Adjustment
–The Demon Forest.
This place used to be just terrifying to me, but now I’d even grown fond of it.
This place was completely unsuitable for human habitation, but it’s now my only home.
Even if I were told I could move the dungeon to another place…I probably wouldn’t.
The saying goes, “wherever you live is your home.”
That said, the threat of this forest was still very much alive and well. Especially in the western area, there were still monsters stronger than us, so even though I knew it well, I couldn’t let my guard down.
Well, I didn’t come here today to explore, but to adjust Enne, so I didn’t intend to go any deeper than the shallow levels of the western area.
Since I was in a relatively relaxed situation, Setsu was accompanying me along with Enne and my pet army, including Rir.
“Don’t push yourself if you’re scared, Setsu. You can’t do anything against the monsters around here.” (Yuki)
“Kuu, kuu!” (Setsu)
Setsu was already the size of a large dog, and although she was a little scared, she barked bravely, “No, it’s okay! Dad and the others are here!”
She had grown remarkably, and it seemed that she had already experienced hunting several times, and perhaps because of her Fenrir bloodline, she seemed to be able to hunt monsters that would be difficult for an average human adventurer by herself.
She came to the dungeon holding a monster that she had apparently hunted in her mouth, and proudly barked “kuu!”, which made everyone praise her.
However, at that time, Riou and Sakuya were so shocked by the sudden appearance of the monster’s corpse that they burst into tears. Setsu, who was in a panic, tried to comfort them while covered in blood and licked them, which made the two of them bloody as well, and it became a pretty chaotic scene.
I was laughing next to the wives who were trying to settle the situation, but they got angry at me.
Now that she could hunt, Setsu’s level had increased and she was now 25. He was growing well.
It’s probably because of Rir and Rir’s wife’s special education, but it’s really impressive. Or rather, I felt like I got a glimpse of the awesomeness of the Fenrir species. Setsu was not even a year old yet.
Although not as strong as the dragon species, they were still creatures that reigned near the top of the hierarchy in this world.
If Setsu could get over her clumsiness, she would probably be as strong as Rir someday. No, if anything, her clumsiness was the cutest thing about her.
“…Hmm, Setsu, you’re great. Setsu will definitely become stronger.” (Enne)
“Kuu!” (Setsu)
“Haha, good for you, Setsu. You have Enne’s stamp of approval, you know? I’m looking forward to your future. –Rir, don’t step forward today. I’ll leave the search to Orochi and the others, so you just focus on protecting Setsu.” (Yuki)
“Kuu” (Rir)
I stroked Rir, who bowed his head, and then I gave orders to my pet army.
“Okay, you guys, if you sense a suitable monster, please let me know! I’m counting on you!” (Yuki)
My pets each replied and scattered nearby.
I was proud of my senses, but even so, these guys who were actually living in the Demon Forest almost every day had far superior senses compared to me.
Especially in the Demon Forest, there were so many living creatures that it’s hard to tell what’s going on because you were only able to sense their presence. Unless they were particularly strong, I couldn’t tell them apart.
Even so, my pets have become more reliable since I could send them to the west area on their own now, even if it was only in the shallow region of that area. By now, they were strong enough to fight back against a national army on their own.
Nell was the most knowledgeable about military matters in our family, so there’s no doubt about it.
And so, within ten minutes of entering the west area, Yata, who had been looking over a wide area from the sky, contacted me using the dungeon’s [Long-Distance Communication] function.
As expected, this forest was full of monsters, so it seemed he’s found a suitable enemy.
“Oh, looks like Yata found a suitable prey. Shall we move that way?” (Yuki)
“Kuu” (Rir)
“Ku, kuu!” (Setsu)
“Setsu, don’t leave Rir. It’ll be fine, your dad will definitely protect you.” (Yuki)
“…kuu!” (Setsu)
We headed in the direction Yata indicated and found a monster that looked like a Spinosaurus.
[Vorororororo!!]
It didn’t run away when it saw us, but instead cried threateningly, trembling the sails on its back to show that this was its territory.
Its fangs were bared, giving it a wild look.
Hearing the cry, Setsu let out a surprised cry of “Kyaa…” and hid under Rir’s legs. Her tail was hidden between her legs.
Haha, you’ve grown noticeably, but you’re still a child after all.
