“Is that… the ocean?”
“Myan!”
Days after leaving the royal capital, X-Piece finally arrived at a port town after traveling the shortest route.
Litty’s tension grew as she heard the sea breeze drifting in as they got closer. Coming from an inland village, this was her first time seeing the sea.
Litty’s reaction to the nature she had only seen in picture books and stories was a surge of excitement.
“Litty! We have work to do first!”
“Yes!”
“Geez…”
Litty stopped abruptly when Roma called out to her, and then turned around to stand upright. But her body was about to start moving.
“First we’ll buy the boat tickets.”
“Then we’ll go swimming!”
“Only if we have time for that. Litty, do you have a swimsuit?”
“Swimsuit?”
Roma held her forehead in disbelief, feeling that Litty would have really jumped into the water with her normal clothes on.
The fact that Litty was behaving in such a manner attracted the stares of many passersby.
“You’re always looking at the water, aren’t you? Here, have some!”
Aquaria splashed water on Litty.
“Whoa! Aquaria-san, what are you doing?” (Litty)
“Tsk… unlike my Master, you can easily avoid it, you’re boring…” (Aquaria)
“Litty-san is quick!”
Kuufa was then doused with water because Aquaria was annoyed at Litty dodging her. All of this made Kuufa feel like crying as they arrived at port town. Seeing Kuufa’s condition, Mirai wiped her with her handkerchief.
Not wanting to stand out at the entrance to the port town, Roma led them on foot.
Litty’s curiosity was piqued again by the lively atmosphere of the port town. Then there were the personalities of the people. Humans, beastmen, and half-humans coexist in the same sphere of life with each other.
The stalls lined up in a row ranged from foodstuffs to magic tools of unknown use.
Roma had to stop Litty from getting involved with bargaining customers. Litty was curious to see the battle between the merchant and the customer who was trying to buy a high-quality magic stone at the lowest possible price.
“Roma-san, those people are spectacular. The buyers and sellers, they are both fighting to get the best deal, right?”
“That’s right. Merchant is also recognized as a job in the Adventurers’ Guild.”
“Is that so? I want that title!”
“Not now! As soon as there’s a job, you always want to get it!”
It was a slip of the tongue, Roma regretted. Although Merchant could help a bit, some parties shied away from it because they could not play a very active role in battle. 𝖓𝔬𝔳𝔭𝔲𝔟.𝖈𝖔𝔪
And because of the enormous amount of knowledge that must be crammed for this job, those who finally acquired it often followed the path of a merchant.
In other words, if one wanted to work as an adventurer, a combat job was by far the most effective.
“I would say that a higher-ranked party might want one of them but not new ones. The point is, as long as you can afford to protect them, it’s a big help to the finances of the party.”
“Ummm… but, I want the title.”
“Well, you’ll have to spend months and days to get this one. Anyway, we’re at the ticket booth.”
Roma broke off the subject, thinking that Litty might seriously decide to acquire the title at this point.
Their current goal was the exam to advance to the Semi-2nd Rank, so they couldn’t afford to get too sidetracked.
Even so, they had already spent a lot of time on Litty’s Knight title, Roma’s Dancer title, and Kuufa’s Magician title.
Roma started talking at the ticket booth, but shortly after, her shoulders slumped.
“It looks like the tickets for today are sold out. In fact, they’re booked three days in advance…”
“So we have to wait here for three days?”
“Yes, that’s right. Recently, adventurers have been very active, and trade has been flourishing along with new discoveries. Many people are starting new businesses one after another.”
“Can’t Aquaria-san help us? If it’s a water spirit, can’t you just do something with the water?”
“Are you counting on my power to cross the ocean? I could have certainly done it if Kuufa was capable of bearing the burden.”
