Litty Fights the Undead
Undead. Some advocate that they should be classified as monsters. Others dismiss that notion by referring to them as “ghosts” or “wraiths”.
No matter what, all experts agreed that the undead should not be taken lightly.
They believed that it was appropriate to recognize them as “those who have deviated from the rules of reason,” since they remained in this world even after death. Moreover, the undead readily reject the common sense that humans have.
“I was right. After all, this ship is not normal…” (Litty)
Litty walked cautiously. She had to search in the dark, with no lights on.
She tried to use her tools to light the way, but for some reason they didn’t help at all. The magic light, which was her only hope, also consumed magic power. And for Litty, who had little magic power, she would prefer to conserve it.
“Roma-san! Kuufa-san! Aquaria-san! Mirai-chan!” (Litty)
Litty shouted the names of her companions, but there was no response.
Walking through the endless corridors, there was no change. There was no shaking, no sound, not even the characteristic rocking of a ship. Trapped in such a world of darkness, Litty–
“Is this… an unexplored area?” (Litty)
Of course, she was in exploration mode. After all, it was a new adventure for her.
She peeked into the darkened room, exploring every nook and cranny, and then she stepped out into the corridor.
“Are you lost?” (???)
Litty immediately reacted to the voice behind her. The young man who guided X-Piece before appeared behind her without any footsteps.
Despite the darkness, Litty could clearly make out the young man’s pale face.
“If you like, I can show you around…?” (???)
“Yes, please.” (Litty)
Despite her doubts, Litty decided to follow. She wanted to find out who he was. However, she did not let her guard down.
The young man’s age, his gestures, everything about him was an object of Litty’s observation. The same went for his soundless steps as they moved.
The young man walking with Litty led her as they walked through the darkness.
“…I’ve always dreamed of becoming a sailor. Ever since I was in the countryside, I dreamed of going to the sea… I was eager to explore the great ocean. My parents in the countryside were happy to see me when I started living on my own… so, I wanted to repay them both one day.” (???)
Not knowing where he was going, the young man continued down the hallway, not changing his pace.
“I came to a big port town and finally became a sailor. But the reality was harsh…I was always getting angry every day. As days went by, I started to care less and less about the dream I had. I was in so much pain that all I could think about was how I wanted to escape.” (???)
The words “dream” and “parents” tickled Litty’s fancy. Still, she continued to observe him closely.
Soon, the young man started to change.
“I thought… If I die, it will be easier…. but I was wrong. Falling into the sea was painful… painful…” (???)
The young man’s skin discolored. His skin started to swell, and his emaciated body bulged.
His gait became awkward and water began to flow from the holes in his body. The young man, now obese, looked back at Litty.
“If it’s going to be this hard, I should…” (???)
There was no sign of the skinny young man. All that was left was a bloated human being who kept spitting water out of his mouth.
