Chapter 181: Chapter 181: Found the Whereabouts of Grandmother

After talking to K, Lu Sheng directly forwarded the string of addresses in his inbox to Li Muchen.

Then he made a phone call.

When Li Muchen received the call, he was originally sitting in front of the computer, staring expressionlessly at several surveillance screens displayed on the screen.

The spacious room was utterly quiet.

The man’s face was as cold and hard as ever, and although there was no expression on his face, the imposing aura of a superior and the powerful atmosphere made those around him tremble with fear.

Even without saying a word, those present dared not speak more than necessary.

Currently, everyone present was brought over to Suli by Li Muchen beforehand.

The Li Group, having ventured into the gray areas of business in earlier years, inevitably had to deal with the underworld forces, so Li Muchen’s father had trained a group of people, who later were all sent abroad.

After coming to Suli, Li Muchen called this group over.

The local police of Suli, the underworld, along with his own people, all three forces searched together for his grandmother’s whereabouts. But even now, on the fourth day, there was still no trace of his grandmother.

Li Muchen’s expression grew visibly gloomier, which made his subordinates even more frightened.

After all, they were paid salaries in the millions annually, and now that their boss finally needed them, they proved useless.

Not to mention finding the old lady, they hadn’t found even a single clue about her whereabouts.

Up to now, it was certain that the ones who took the old lady were not locals of Suli; otherwise, both the local police and the underworld would have some information.

It must have been done by professionals who prepared thoroughly in advance, acting quickly and leaving no trace.

And they must still be in Suli, just hiding somewhere they could not search. They are probably waiting for their search to relax before they find an opportunity to escape.

At this stage, the situation had reached a deadlock.

Investigating further meant they could only start searching house to house across Suli.

But Suli, after all, was not China, and even if Li Muchen had cooperation with Suli’s police, such a deployment was indeed too big.

The atmosphere in the room grew even heavier, and those present had sweat beading on their foreheads, waiting for Li Muchen to issue the next orders.

However, just then, they saw Li Muchen’s phone start ringing—

Who knew who would call at this time, wasn’t this just asking for a scolding.

The people present could not help but take a deep breath, but what shocked them was that Li Muchen’s originally cold expression instantly softened the moment he saw the caller ID on the screen.

Without a moment’s hesitation, he answered the call. His voice was deep, yet unmistakably affectionate: "Baby, what’s wrong?"

Baby...

The group of burly men present almost choked on hearing this term.

Was this the boss they hadn’t seen smile since they arrived in Suli? Was this their boss who they thought was like a living King of Hell?

Not only did he call the person on the other end of the phone "baby," but his voice even sounded a bit tender.

Completely different from when he spoke to them.

Lu Sheng didn’t know there were people around Li Muchen.

She directly said that a friend in Suli had helped find her grandmother’s whereabouts, who is now supposedly in an abandoned bar, and she had already sent the location.

Then she reminded Li Muchen that those who took his grandmother were part of a mercenary group, unsure how many but definitely tough cookies. If they went to rescue, they must prepare well.

Li Muchen hadn’t expected that the three groups he arranged couldn’t accomplish the task, yet a girl far away in China managed to find his grandmother’s whereabouts with the help of others.

Li Muchen clenched his phone for a moment, wanting to say thank you, yet feeling it somewhat alien to do so.

At this very moment, he was incredibly grateful for the divine favor that allowed him to meet her just as the girl arrived in Jiang City, and then to fall in love with her.

"Li Muchen," having said the important stuff, the girl on the phone spoke, "Promise me, don’t get hurt. Find your grandmother soon and come back to the country together. I’ll wait for you in Jiang City."

"Okay," Li Muchen’s fingers brushed the phone’s mic, his voice deep, "I promise you, I will come back."

After hanging up, Li Muchen looked at the address shown in the inbox.

His expression instantly sharpened as he lifted his eyes to the people in the room who were waiting for orders.

Suli, an abandoned bar.

In the perpetual darkness of the basement, every corner reeked of age and decay, and all the cabinets were worn out.

Each piece of furniture and the floor was covered with a thick layer of dust; walking past stirred up a cloud of dust, choking anyone passing by.

A burly man with a buzz cut slammed the door shut, carrying a plate with a meal and an iron spoon for grinding medicine as he walked out of the room.

"I say boss, how much longer do we have to hide in this godforsaken place?" The man, evidently impatient, looked on, "We have been hiding here for four days already, isn’t the ferry to China arranged yet?"

"I’m not even worried yet, what’s your rush?" The man known as the boss, with a long scar from his forehead to the corner of his right eye, stared at his phone, replying without even lifting his eyes.

"Do you not know that several groups are searching the entire city for us outside?"

"Besides, I’ve told you to watch an old lady with dementia. Feeding her rice gruel and sleeping powder isn’t exactly strenuous work."

"Just do your job well, quit your useless chatter."

Seeing the boss’s response, the man had nothing more to say, muttering a few words before going off to find something to eat.

There was another bald man in the room, sorting through a box full of guns in the corner.

However, a few minutes hadn’t passed before the Scarface boss’s phone suddenly vibrated.

The man instantly perked up, quickly answering the call.

"Mr. Li?" Scarface’s tone instantly turned somewhat respectful, "This is Dao Liu, have you called because everything is arranged?"

A man’s voice came from the other end, slightly condescendingly asking, "Your tracks haven’t been discovered, right? How is the old lady doing now?"

"Rest assured, Mr. Li, apart from you, no one else would find their way to this bar we’re hiding in. Even if they did come, they wouldn’t know there’s a basement here."

"And about the old lady, there’s even less for you to worry about. She’s eating well, sleeping well with us. When the time comes, we hand over the person and receive the money directly; you’ll check in person."

The man on the phone responded noncommittally, then said, "Listen, in forty minutes, a black SUV will stop in front of the bar."

"Don’t waste time, take the old lady straight to the car; this vehicle will take you to the ferry, and there will be someone guiding you onto the ferry to China."

"Once you bring the old lady back to the country, the remaining five million will be transferred to your account. After receiving this money, aside from China and Suli, you guys can go wherever you want."

"You can count on us, Mr. Li," Scarface, hearing about the final five million, broke into a grin, "We’re professionals, we’re seasoned in this business."

After Scarface hung up, he shared this news with the other two.

The buzz-cut man, hearing they finally wouldn’t have to continue hiding in this dark, stuffy dump, naturally showed great eagerness, immediately starting to pack his belongings.

However, what they didn’t expect was that they had only just started packing when noise came from upstairs.

It seemed like the noise was from the locked shutter door of the bar being lifted.

"...Didn’t they say forty minutes later?" The buzz-cut man paused, "It’s only been twenty minutes; did they come early?"
