Chapter 216: Chapter 216: The Second Brother Is So Gentle at Heart
The children of the Shengjing family were all precious and fragile, and the school always feared that something might happen to a student.
When Lu Sheng fell from the horse at the equestrian center and with so many people watching, it probably caused quite a stir.
The homeroom teacher Zhou Wu must have received the news immediately.
Having heard that Lu Youming directly carried Lu Sheng away, he promptly notified the parent figure Lu Jingyan.
Hearing the anxious tone of his eldest brother on the phone, Lu Sheng then remembered that she had left her mobile phone in the changing room at the equestrian center.
Most likely her brother could not get through to her phone and was more worried that she had fainted or something, which is why he hastily called the Fourth Brother.
"Big brother, don’t panic first."
Lu Youming glanced at Lu Sheng, "Shengsheng indeed fell from the horse, she’s hurt... not lightly, but her condition is still alright now, we’re on our way to the Central Hospital."
"Hurt not lightly??"
On the other end of the phone, Lu Jingyan ignored the words "still alright" and took a sharp breath, "Take good care of Shengsheng, I’m heading to the Central Hospital right now."
"Mr. Lu, the meeting in ten minutes..."
A secretary’s reminder was faintly heard over the phone.
"The meeting is canceled. We’ll talk about anything when I get back," Lu Jingyan said without hesitation, cutting off the secretary.
Then to Lu Youming on this end, he said, "Youming, I’ll contact your second brother now to arrange for a doctor to examine Shengsheng. Call your second brother directly when you get to the hospital."
"Okay, I understand, big brother," Lu Youming responded.
Lu Siyan was a surgeon at the Central Hospital.
With exceptional talent and having skipped two grades in primary school due to early schooling, and studying abroad at a well-known medical university,
Lu Siyan was likely to become the youngest attending physician in the hospital’s history, truly a promising young talent with an unlimited future.
When Lu Jingyan called, Lu Siyan was in the hospital duty room.
Today was supposed to be his day off, but he came to the hospital to cover for a colleague who was feeling unwell.
On receiving the call, Lu Siyan answered as usual.
His gaze fell and looked indifferent, his fair and slender fingers holding a pen, the motion of writing a report never stopping.
However, upon hearing that Lu Sheng had fallen off a horse at school and was being brought to the hospital by Lu Youming,
Lu Siyan’s breathing paused abruptly, and he looked up sharply.
The once calm expression changed instantly, he took a deep breath to calm himself, then gripping the phone tightly he asked, "...Shengsheng fell from a horse and got injured? What happened?"
"I don’t know the specifics," Lu Jingyan said over the phone, "But I just spoke with Youming, they should be at the Central Hospital in about ten minutes."
"Youming said Shengsheng is not lightly injured. Arrange for someone to examine her as soon as possible. I’m also on my way to the hospital, should be there in about half an hour."
"...I understand."
Lu Siyan, who worked in the hospital year-round, couldn’t help but visualize a scene of the girl covered in blood when he heard the words "not lightly injured."
Even though he knew that a fall from a horse wouldn’t likely result in such injuries, his hands still shook slightly. He took a deep breath, then hung up the phone directly.
Originally, Lu Jingyan had said to call the second brother when Lu Youming arrived at the hospital.
But as soon as the taxi stopped at the hospital entrance, Lu Youming looked up and saw the second brother’s figure standing outside the hospital through the taxi window.
Lean and tall, donned in a white coat over a light-colored shirt and black trousers. His features and aura were as clear and distant as the bright moon, remote and cold.
Yet the usual coldness in his eyes disappeared the moment his gaze met the taxi. His long legs moved swiftly, he even ran over.
"...How is Shengsheng?"
When Lu Siyan opened the car door, he saw the girl inside with dust in her hair and her cheek scraped, but the blood had already clotted.
Hair with dirt, face with blood, arms with blood... Just a glance was enough to know the fall at school had not been a light one for his sister.
Lu Siyan’s heart skipped a beat.
Although his expression remained calm as usual, Lu Sheng could tell that their usually composed Second Brother was now breathing unevenly.
"Don’t worry, Second Brother, I’m fine."
Lu Sheng was not one to be overly dramatic or delicate.
Even though she had suffered a fracture from the fall and undoubtedly felt pain, she didn’t want her brothers to worry about her.
However, clearly, her words did not bring any relaxation or comfort to Lu Siyan.
Lu Siyan bent down and asked her, "...Can you still walk?"
Lu Sheng pressed her lips together and shook her head: "I dare not move my lower leg; I probably can’t walk."
"...Then it must be a bone injury." Lu Siyan took a deep breath, his handsome brows already deeply furrowed.
He extended his hand towards Lu Sheng in the car and gently lifted her, "I’ll carry you to the duty room first to conduct a preliminary examination and clean your wounds. Later, we’ll get an x-ray to check the condition of the bone."
Upon hearing this, Lu Sheng obediently nodded her head: "Okay."
It was just about time for the hospital’s morning shift to end, and the corridors were not very crowded.
In the duty room, Lu Siyan checked all of Lu Sheng’s injuries carefully and asked in detail about her condition.
Only after ruling out the possibility of a concussion and damage to the surrounding organs did Lu Siyan finally breathe a sigh of relief.
He first cleaned and bandaged the wounds on Lu Sheng’s face and arms, then instructed Lu Youming to find a wheelchair.
Though Lu Sheng was light, it was still inconvenient to keep holding her. With the wheelchair, it would be much easier to take her for the x-rays and such.
X-ray, CT, and MRI.
Out of caution and for safety, Lu Siyan had conducted a thorough examination of Lu Sheng’s entire body.
Once all the examination results were out, Lu Siyan was the first to scrutinize them carefully.
Just as Lu Sheng had surmised, her waist and back were bruised from impact, but fortunately, there was no twist injury or fracture.
There was a fracture in her lower leg, but it was relatively minor, a crack with no obvious displacement. With a cast to stabilize it and proper rest over the ensuing months, she would be fine.
Besides that, there was no damage to any other organs or bones, which was already very fortunate.
As a professional doctor, Lu Siyan knew on seeing the results that Lu Sheng’s injuries were not particularly severe.
He finally relaxed.
Having spent over half an hour in the examination room, Lu Siyan called a colleague from orthopedics, saying he would bring someone over to put a cast on her lower leg.
Even though it was already after hours, given Lu Siyan’s reputation, his colleague readily agreed, saying he would wait in the orthopedics consultation room.
Then, Lu Siyan prepared to push the wheelchair holding Lu Sheng.
"Look, Second Brother, I knew my injuries weren’t that serious; maybe you should call and tell Big Brother not to come over."
Lu Sheng, still recalling the phone call where Lu Jingyan had a meeting to attend, looked up at Lu Siyan.
"Saying it’s not serious when it’s already a fracture," Lu Siyan said, looking down at her.
Although his tone was still cool, his demeanor was soft, with a hint of tenderness in his eyes that was hard to hide.
Lu Sheng knew that her Second Brother might seem aloof on the outside, but he was actually a gentle and patient person—otherwise, he wouldn’t have chosen such a profession dedicated to saving lives and aiding the injured.
Before she could reply, she saw Lu Siyan suddenly squat down in front of the wheelchair.
