"Now’s the time, take them down!"
As the two crew members bent down to scratch an itch, Wu Bin and Yang Kang charged at them, throwing punches their way.
The crew members desperately resisted, but with their legs already incapacitated, they stood no chance against Wu Bin and Yang Kang.
After gritting their teeth through a couple of blows, the two crew members were finally subdued.
Looking at the two who had fainted on the ground, Yang Kang felt a bit nervous.
It was his first time knocking someone out, and he wasn’t sure if he would be held legally accountable afterwards.
But Wu Bin didn’t have time to think about these things. He started frisking the bodies, taking their walkie-talkies and a set of keys.
"Hey, Wu Bin, why are you so skilled at this?"
Without looking up, Wu Bin replied, "Learned it from movies."
"Instructor, stop dazing off. Come help me strip them of their uniforms and we’ll put them on ourselves."
The entire tanker was now under the control of these crew members.
If Wu Bin and his party wanted to find a sliver of hope, their best bet was to infiltrate the enemy.
They dragged the two crew members into a corner before putting on the crew’s clothes.
Wu Bin said to Yang Kang, "Instructor, you go and meet up with Han Jiaoyan and the others. We’ll regroup here in five minutes."
"If I’m not back in five minutes, you go ahead without me."
Yang Kang looked at Wu Bin nervously.
"Where are you going?"
Wu Bin said, "I’m going to look for lifeboats. If not that, at least some life vests."
"These guys wouldn’t leave themselves without an escape route."
Wu Bin gestured to Yang Kang to be at ease, then he headed straight for the hall.
In Wu Bin’s memory, there should be a storage room next to the hall.
When he boarded the ship, he glanced inside and saw it stored lifebuoys and such.
Wu Bin lowered his cap brim and stealthily made his way to the side of the hall.
Just as he was about to approach the storage room, a man called out to him.
"Stop right there."
Wu Bin’s step halted, his heart skipping a beat.
The man walked towards Wu Bin.
Just when he thought he’d been caught, the man glanced at the nametag on Wu Bin’s chest.
"Li Tai, is it? The Ascension Ritual is about to start. Hurry up and follow me to the gathering. Don’t wander around."
Wu Bin breathed a sigh of relief.
So, this person didn’t know Li Tai?
Wu Bin’s mind raced.
Did that mean these people weren’t really ’colleagues’ but were just temporarily assembled and didn’t know each other well?
This, in turn, provided him with a good opportunity to blend in.
Wu Bin asked, "What about the tourists still outside? Should we just ignore them?"
The man waved dismissively.
"Doesn’t matter. They’re not important. As long as we keep the students from Zhang City Middle School under control, that’s all that counts."
"Hurry up, the ritual is about to begin."
Although Wu Bin was full of doubts, he still nodded and followed the man.
Zhang City Middle School’s students?
Ritual?
This was indeed a conspiracy!
Following the man through a series of metal doors, they finally arrived at the hall.
In the hall, over eighty crew members dressed in uniform formed a circle, gathered together.
A fanatical look shone in their eyes.
In the center of the circle was an elderly man with white hair.
The old man stood on a pattern drawn with blood, mumbling words, his expression crazy.
"Praise the profound and shadowy Lord of the Sea, your devout followers prostrate and pray!"
"Your followers have brought you children from South Korea, and at this moment, we sacrifice them to you!"
"Our Abyssal Lord in the depths of the sea, may your name be exalted, and may your kingdom come!"
"May you bless South Korea, and may your will allow our souls to transcend!"
"Awake, Abyssal Lord slumbering at the bottom of the sea, we cry out your revered name!"
"Wrest Lyeh!"
The surrounding crew members all raised their right hands, rolled up their sleeves, and revealed tattoos on their arms resembling octopus tentacles.
They shouted fervently.
"Wrest Lyeh!"
"Wrest Lyeh!"
This was actually an evil sacrificial ritual!
Wu Bin could never have imagined that such a thing would occur in the twenty-first century!
"Why are you not chanting the Lord’s reverend name?"
Seeing that Wu Bin did not reveal a tattoo and shout like them, the man who had brought him started to look at him with an increasingly sharp gaze.
Wu Bin clutched his belly and said with a pained expression, "My stomach hurts, I need to go to the bathroom."
Without waiting for the man to react, Wu Bin quickly made his escape.
Though puzzled, the man did not stop him.
After all, the ritual was already at its end, the situation was set, nothing could prevent the completion of the ritual.
Wu Bin ran out of the hall cursing under his breath.
"Madmen, they’re all fucking madmen!"
"No wonder there are no life jackets on board, these people never planned on surviving in the first place!"
Just as Wu Bin was preparing to find Yang Kang and the others to leave in haste, suddenly a voice stopped him.
Wu Bin turned his head and saw a girl in a pretty schoolgirl skirt, speaking South Korean and smiling as she greeted him.
"Achachi, annyeonghaseyo."
Wu Bin paused in his steps.
Because there was an iron gate between him and the girl, and the gate was locked.
Wu Bin suddenly remembered what the man had said earlier.
Could it be that this girl was a student from Zhang City Middle School?
Seeing that Wu Bin did not reply, the girl seemed to realize something and began to speak haltingly in Chinese.
"Uncle, hello."
"I am a student from Zhang City Middle School. Many of our classmates’ rooms have been flooded; can we go to the deck now?"
The girl blinked her eyes innocently at Wu Bin. 𝘯𝑜𝑣𝑝𝑢𝘣.𝑐𝑜𝑚
One had to admit, these South Korean girls surely knew how to dress up.
They looked to be only eighteen or nineteen, but with makeup and colored contacts, they resembled those K-pop dance groups, exuding South Korean flair, youthful and vibrant.
Thinking of the bright future these students still had, Wu Bin said to her, "The ship’s about to sink. You need to hurry and inform your classmates and teachers to do everything they can to get to the deck."
The girl looked puzzled.
"The ship is sinking? But wasn’t it said before that the ship had only a minor problem?"
No sooner had the girl finished speaking,
a sound like the cry of a baby came from the depths of the sea.
The sound was bizarre, sending chills down the spine!
Wu Bin knew for sure this had to be the "Abyssal Lord" those people had spoken of awaking.
God damn it, he had thought those people had a case of chuunibyou, but they were serious?
Wu Bin took out the key from his waist and began trying the locks one by one.
"There’s no time for explanations, you must hurry and notify—"
Before Wu Bin could finish, the entire ship suddenly trembled violently, and then the ship began to tilt once more!
The girl, terrified, grabbed the iron bars with one hand and crouched on the ground screaming!
