Seeing Wu Bin’s shocked face, Nightingale said while reloading, "What are you thinking about?"
Wu Bin replied, "So bullets do work on these Dragon Clan descendants? I thought they were immune to firearms."
Nightingale gave Wu Bin a look as if he were an idiot and said, "Physics and chemistry exist objectively. Since they are part of this world, they naturally follow such laws."
"But that is for lower organisms. Science applies to them. But for higher organisms or more powerful beings, it’s not necessarily the case."
"They often master rules that are more scientific than our science, thus they can perform acts that exceed our scientific knowledge and cannot be resolved by it."
"At that point, bullets and such would only cause them limited harm, and more powerful weapons would need to be employed."
Wu Bin understood.
This means that in this world, aside from science, there exists a higher set of rules, which Wu Bin temporarily refers to as mysticism.
The rules of mysticism, being more meticulous and powerful than science, are currently beyond human understanding, often giving the impression of being anti-scientific.
It’s similar to how people in ancient times knew that water flows downward, but they didn’t necessarily understand that it was because of gravity.
Similarly, Supernatural Beings, Dragon Clan descendants, the Dragon Clan, or other races understand that they can activate or use some magical powers through certain methods.
It’s like how Taoists draw talismans, chant spells, and step in specific patterns to borrow a part of the mysterious powers.
Everyone has not yet mastered this mysterious power of mysticism, but that does not prevent them from using and exploring it.
Even though Dong Mingyuan is a descendant of the Dragon Clan, he is only the lowest rank of dragon servant and inherits very little of the dragon’s power.
So, both in physique and abilities, he is just a bit stronger than an ordinary human, and these special munitions are able to harm him.
The reason Dong Mingyuan died so quickly was that he was overly confident.
If he had covered himself with his osseous armor and fled right away, Nightingale and her group would have had no means to detain him; they would only have been able to watch him leave.
Instead, Dong Mingyuan thought his osseous armor made him invulnerable and decided to confront Nightingale and her group head-on.
The result was that a single White Phosphorus Bullet easily took care of him.
After dealing with Dong Mingyuan, the group entered the cave and continued to advance further.
The cave was very dark, and it was unclear what lay ahead.
Hu Feng gestured, and everyone tapped their own left shoulder.
The outline lights on the edges of their protective suits lit up, the green fluorescence not only outlined each person’s figure but also illuminated the entire cave.
Two team members holding flashlights led the way at the front.
Wu Bin carefully examined the surroundings of the cave, noticing that this cave was very rough, unlike the previously encountered Ao Fish Cave.
The Ao Fish Cave clearly showed signs of human sculpting and had murals with high research value.
This indicates that at some point in history, Ao Fish was worshipped by humans, regarded as a deity, and even had a tomb built for it.
But the Barbaric Dragon’s cave was completely different.
The entire cave was extremely rough, without any marks of human sculpting, and was also very damp with various slimes on the ground, creating a disgusting feeling.
After examining the cave, Jin Nanhua concluded,
"This cave was likely formed by the Barbaric Dragon burrowing into it, which is why it’s so rough—this is in line with the habits of the Barbaric Dragon."
"Among the many Dragon Clan members, the Barbaric Dragons have the lowest intelligence, so while other Dragon Clan members seek help when weak, the Barbaric Dragons might not."
Wu Bin looked surprised.
"But isn’t that wrong? Wasn’t Dong Mingyuan just a descendant of the Barbaric Dragon?"
Jin Nanhua shook his head.
"The Dragon Servants are the lowest rank of the Dragon Clan’s descendants, with limited capabilities, which means the Barbaric Dragon never truly expected Dong Mingyuan to accomplish anything for it from the beginning."
"Our top priority is to find the Barbaric Dragon quickly and contain it while it’s still weak."
As soon as Jin Nanhua finished speaking, a voice from the expedition team sounded from ahead.
"Doctor, we’ve found traces of the Barbaric Dragon."
Following the direction of the expedition team member’s flashlight, everyone could see many shattered bones scattered on a relatively open area of the ground.
These bone fragments closely resembled those found on Dong Mingyuan’s body.
Just as an expedition team member was about to kneel down to study the bones closely, a searing heat emanated from up ahead.
The team member instinctively looked up.
The moment he raised his head, he saw a pair of red eyes staring directly at him.
"Target spotted!"
Before the team member could finish speaking, the Barbaric Dragon burst out from its hiding spot in the cave.
Phut!
Sharp bone spikes on top of the Barbaric Dragon’s head impaled the team member’s body, who had no chance to resist as he was speared outwards!
"Spread out! Everybody, spread out!"
Hu Feng reacted the fastest, his first thought not of retaliation but to have everyone spread out.
But the passage was too narrow.
Moreover, given the large size of the Barbaric Dragon, aside from some who reacted incredibly swiftly and pressed against the inner wall, others were directly smashed against it by the Barbaric Dragon, their internal organs and bones crushed instantly!
Nightingale was quick to press Wu Bin against the wall, otherwise, Wu Bin would have been dead by then.
The Barbaric Dragon, like a freight train, whisked past directly in front of Wu Bin, who was so frightened that he even forgot to breathe!
Only after the Barbaric Dragon had charged past did Wu Bin come back to his senses.
By then, the cave was marked everywhere with traces where the Barbaric Dragon’s bone spikes had ploughed through.
Dozens of members from the expedition team lay on the ground, devoid of any signs of life.
Once again, Wu Bin experienced the terrifying power of the Dragon Clan.
Just one encounter had instantly killed dozens of fully armed expedition team members!
The destructive power of this Barbaric Dragon was simply monstrous!
"Quick, chase after it! Don’t let it get away!"
Seeing the Barbaric Dragon fleeing towards the outside of the cave, Jin Nanhua was enormously anxious.
He wasn’t sure to what extent the Barbaric Dragon had recovered; if it had regained its ability to fly, that would be very troublesome.
As the group ran outside, a loud bang came from the cave entrance.
As soon as Wu Bin ran out of the cave, he was stunned by the sight before him.
He saw the Barbaric Dragon soaring into the air, only to be hit by a small missile just as it reached midair, not very high up!
The Barbaric Dragon howled in pain, falling straight down from the sky.
Bang!
The massive body of the Barbaric Dragon heavily hit the ground, many of its scales blown off from its abdomen by the missile.
Hu Feng didn’t hesitate, immediately leading the team in laying down a barrage of fire against the Barbaric Dragon!
