Joseph was losing it. At this moment, he didn’t care about anything else. Wang Yun kept drifting and pulling ahead of him. How could he, a seasoned driver, be outdone by a mere rookie?
It was just the fearlessness of a newbie, relying on sheer boldness. He had seen this situation on the racetrack before. Some newcomers performed better than veterans because they weren’t afraid of death. If that was the case, then he could do it too.
Marley got anxious when he heard Joseph’s thoughts, knowing exactly what he was thinking.
“No, Joseph, this isn’t a racetrack! You can’t take such risks!” Marley shouted anxiously.
“This is a thousand-foot cliff, you can’t play with your life!”
Seeing the situation getting out of control and the countdown ticking down, Wu Mingyu grabbed the microphone and spoke to Joseph.
“Listen to me, Joseph, slow down. Even if we don’t catch him this time, I’ve already set up checkpoints at all exits. Don’t act impulsively.”
Just as Wu Mingyu finished speaking, Wang Yun’s car reached the death cliff. As soon as he approached the bend, he slammed on the brakes. The exhaust pipe at the rear of the car emitted thick white smoke, instantly obscuring the view.
Through the dense white smoke, only a vague silhouette of the car could be seen. The car spun 360 degrees on the spot. In the next second, the car emerged from the white smoke.
1.6 seconds!
The entire process took just 1.6 seconds.
Wang Yun had done it.
He successfully navigated the death cliff bend.
“Oh my God! Fox 360 Spin! How does he know how to use the Fox 360 Spin? Who the hell is Wang Yun?” Marley clutched his hair in horror, goosebumps rising all over his body. “Wang Yun is insane! His car’s front end nearly went over the edge just now!”
“Captain Marley, what is the Fox 360 Spin?”
The captains in the room were almost speechless. They stared at Marley, dumbfounded.
At that moment, Marley’s mind was blank. He was truly shocked and couldn’t hear the voices around him.
Trailing closely behind, Joseph instinctively slammed on the brakes when he saw Wang Yun pull off the Fox 360 Spin.
“Ah! Captain Joseph, be careful!” n𝚘𝚟𝚙𝚞𝚋.𝚌o𝚖
“Brake! Brake!”
When everyone saw Joseph start to brake with only ten meters left before the cliff, their hearts leaped into their throats. They shouted instinctively, some captains even covering their eyes. Anyone could see that under these conditions, it was impossible to stop in time.
“Turn the wheel!” Marley shouted.
But it was too late.
Joseph’s car charged straight toward the cliff. A terrified sound escaped Joseph’s throat.
“I can’t turn it!”
That was right. In a high-speed braking situation, attempting to turn the wheel even slightly would cause the car to lose control instantly. At such a high speed, there was no chance of survival. The entire car would plummet directly over the cliff.
“Ahhh! I can’t watch!”
“Producer, initiate emergency measures now!”
“Damn it! This is insane!”
Everyone in the room started shouting.
Joseph’s pupils were dilating rapidly. Just as his car was about to plunge over the cliff, there was a loud bang—a massive explosion sound.
The tires had blown out. Both the front right tire and the rear left tire had burst.
Screech—
The rims grinding against the ground produced an ear-piercing noise, sparks flying everywhere.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The car spun out of control, crashing into the guardrail. This impact miraculously halted the vehicle, which was just moments away from going over the edge. The front of the car hung precariously over the cliff.
What a close call!
“Thank goodness! It stopped!”
The Captains in the observation room let out a collective sigh of relief. Wu Mingyu felt light-headed from the stress and slumped into his chair. Marley’s legs were shaking from fear. The scene they had just witnessed was far more terrifying than any race.
“Marley, Captain Joseph, are you okay? Respond if you can hear us.”
The executive producer’s voice trembled as it echoed in Joseph’s ear. He had been just as scared.
After three or four seconds, a shaky voice replied, “I’m… okay.”
Joseph was still alive.
“Don’t move. We’re sending a rescue team to your location. Get out of the car and stand by the guardrail,” the producer instructed urgently.
Creak.
The car door opened. The vehicle was severely deformed from the crash.
Joseph mechanically got out of the car. His movements clearly showed he was genuinely terrified. As he stepped out and looked up, he saw the Bentley parked in the distance.
“Wang Yun? Why hasn’t he left?”
The captains in the observation room noticed it too. Then, Wang Yun got out of his car. He casually walked over to Joseph, marking yet another close encounter between Wang Yun and the program’s captains.
Joseph’s heart, which had just started to calm down, began pounding again. He knew how strong Wang Yun was, especially in close combat. Almost no one could match him.
“What’s he planning to do? Is he going to eliminate Captain Joseph directly?”
“Damn it, taking advantage of someone in a bad spot! Damn, Wang Yun, you can’t do this!”
“Looks like Captain Joseph is about to be eliminated. What a shame, he just joined and might set the record for the fastest elimination ever.”
In the observation room, this last comment came from Bayim from the Oil Nation. As soon as he finished speaking, every captain’s hateful gaze turned toward him. Bayim sheepishly shut his mouth, but his eyes were full of gloating.
At this moment, Wang Yun walked towards Joseph with an expressionless face. His right hand kept sliding his fingers as if he was playing with something.
“What do you want? Even if I’m eliminated, so what? Sooner or later, you’ll be caught,” Joseph stammered, clearly panicking, and began to back away.
But behind him was the sheer cliff. He had just survived one death-defying ordeal and now faced another. Joseph’s face turned deathly pale.
Seeing his distressed state, Wang Yun chuckled.
“Don’t be nervous, I just want to get to know the new captain. I have to admit, your driving skills are pretty good, it’s just unfortunate you had to go up against me. By the way, if you have time, I can teach you that skill I used earlier. The air around here is actually pretty nice.”
Wang Yun spoke, looking around as if he were chatting with an old friend. He took a deep breath, a look of contentment on his face. Then he smiled at Joseph, turned around, and tossed something from his hand.
“I have to say, my aim is spot on.”
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Small stones hit the rocks on the side of the road with crisp sounds. Where they hit, small dents appeared on the surface.
