41: Chapter 41 Widowhood Within Marriage (2)_1
“Charge it.”
Gu Mochen handed his bank card to the clerk, who, upon seeing the black card in her hand, was taken aback.
In Yuncheng City, the only person who could use this card was the CEO of the Gu Family…
No wonder, ever since this man appeared, she felt a powerful aura about him, seemingly effortless and natural.
“Mr.
Gu, the formal wear needs ironing; we’ll iron it and have someone deliver it to you.”
After recognizing Gu Mochen’s identity, the clerk’s tone changed, nodding and bowing with utmost respect.
“Okay.”
Jian Ran felt a pang of distress for the exorbitant cost of the jacket, disdaining Gu Mochen’s luxurious taste.
…
After settling the bill, the group prepared to leave.
Jian Ran had barely reached the door when she ran into the enchanting figure of Qin Mu.
“Ran girl, what are you doing here?”
“I…
I’m here with CEO Gu to pick out formal wear for the company’s annual event tomorrow.”
“What a coincidence; we’re on the same wavelength.
I received the invitation to the Gu Family annual event and knew it was tomorrow, so I came to help you choose a few outfits.” 𝘯𝑜𝑣𝑝𝑢𝘣.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Confronted with the man’s sincere dark eyes, Jian Ran quickly waved her hands, “Qin Mu, I don’t need any formal wear…”
“Even though our Ran girl is already incredibly beautify, having some formal wear is still a must.”
Jian Ran: “…”
“CEO Gu, Ran girl is the author of the Dongheng International’s design proposal.
I’ll help her pick out a couple of dresses as a gift; that’s hardly inappropriate, right?”
Gu Mochen’s narrow eyes slightly narrowed, “Of course.”
Jian Ran wanted to say something else, but Qin Mu had already started pulling her toward the store.
Gu Mochen used the excuse of waiting for his suit to be ironed to follow them inside, while Secretary Zhou watched everything keenly, feeling the pressure mount as CEO Gu’s aura inadvertently grew colder.
Caught between Qin Mu and Gu Mochen, Jian Ran began to breathe more rapidly, anxious and unsettled.
“Qin Mu, stop messing around.
I have to go to work this afternoon.
It took a long time to pick that suit earlier.”
“This white strapless gown, embedded with pearls…
it complements your temperament perfectly.
Go and try it on.”
Jian Ran wanted to say more but was soon ushered by Qin Mu into the dressing room.
Gu Mochen’s eyes narrowed slightly, and a taunting smile appeared on his lips.
Having no other option but to comply with the insistent hospitality, she reluctantly changed and came out.
The white chiffon gown with pearled embellishments had a slim waistline accentuated by a diamond-studded belt.
Her slender waist could hardly be grasped with one hand, provoking the imagination.
Her perfect bust, simple and elegant.
Wearing an expensive gown for the first time in four years, Jian Ran’s natural grace remained unchanged, but the woman in the mirror seemed out of her element, her lips pursed with discomfort.
Gu Mochen took in every aspect of Jian Ran’s beauty, a flash of astonishment crossing his face.
Jian Ran noticed the predatory and possessive desire in Gu Mochen’s eyes, and said uneasily, “I don’t like it, I’m going to change out of it.”
Meeting Qin Mu’s surprised look, Jian Ran forced a smile, then walked back towards the dressing room, putting on the expensive dress again and inevitably reflecting on the past.
…
When Jian Ran walked out of the dressing room, her eyes fell on the tall figures of the two men near the door.
It was already 3 p.m.; there didn’t seem to be much point in returning to the office.
“CEO Gu, I’m taking the afternoon off; I have other matters to attend to and will be heading home.”
Gu Mochen caught the slight disappointment in Jian Ran’s mood and nodded his head.
With Gu Mochen’s approval, Jian Ran softly said, “Qin Mu, if you’re really my buddy, then don’t buy these for me; you know my personality!”
Qin Mu raised his eyebrows, having only wanted to treat Ran girl without restraint, seemingly forgetting Jian Ran’s nature.
She rejected all gains without hard work.
“Okay.”
…
Jian Ran left the two men behind and walked out; indeed, she was more suited to taking the bus than riding in luxury cars.
After picking up Tang Bao from daycare early and heading home, Jian Ran did not expect to see a courier delivering a beautifully wrapped box right to their doorstep just as she and Tang Bao reached their house.
“Miss Jian, hello, here’s your gown.”
Jian Ran: “…”
Jian Ran was surprised.
After signing for it and opening the box, she found an exquisite light purple gown with accessories, including high heels.
It was the costly dress she had just admired, with a price ending in more zeros than she could remember.
