The second step, eat lipstick!
This phrase somehow sounds a bit strange.
Jian Ran couldn’t help but link the man’s words with the four words “impromptu interaction” in her mind.
Jian Ran’s little face suddenly flushed a deep red.
“Can I…
wear the mask now?”
“Yes.”
Gu Mochen gazed at the woman before him, his dark eyes flashing with a hint of brilliance, the sensation of her lips still lingering on his fingertips, his mouth curved in an almost imperceptible smile.
…
Totem, as a landmark building in Yuncheng City and property of the Gu Family, was magnificent and luxurious, with crystal chandeliers hanging everywhere.
The guests had all arrived early on, waiting for the host to make an appearance.
The emcee kicked off the evening, and as the lights focused on the entrance of the venue, all eyes were on it.
Jian Ran’s breath tightened, while Gu Mochen’s lips curled into a smile, extending his large hand to take Jian Ran’s small hand and place it in the crook of his arm.
“Don’t be nervous, just follow my lead.”
“Okay.”
Having said that, she became even more nervous.
When Jian Ran and Gu Mochen made their entrance, the lights shone on them both, Gu Mochen’s face was unmasked, revealing an air of nobility, exuding an aura fit for a king.
After all, the so-called masquerade ball was to conceal Mrs.
Gu’s identity.
Jian Ran’s graceful figure, wearing an exquisite fox mask, her distinguished features were evident, and Jian Ran could clearly hear the sound of the crowd gasping in surprise.
As well as the murmurs of flattering comments and applause.
Jian Ran felt sweat in her palms due to nervousness as she followed Gu Mochen onto the stage, subconsciously looking for Qin Mu in the crowd.
Sure enough, in a corner, she saw Qin Mu toying with a fox mask and nonchalantly sipping red wine.
Apparently sensing her distraction, Jian Ran suddenly felt Gu Mochen’s warm and possessive hand land on her slender waist.
Jian Ran’s face turned slightly pale, involuntarily glancing at the man beside her, the focus of the entire event on her; if it weren’t for the mask, she might have given herself away.
Gu Mochen’s upright gentlemanly demeanor seemed so at odds with the act of stealing a girl’s tofu.
In the next instant, Gu Mochen’s hand tightened, pulling her entirely into his arms, his possession unmistakable.
As the man’s breath drew near, listening to his magnetic voice delivering the speech, Jian Ran stood rigid on the spot, her body erect, her mind unavoidably recalling the man’s words from the office at noon.
Linking arms, embracing the waist—were these the so-called impromptu interactions between husband and wife?
Jian Ran clenched her small hand tightly, her sweaty palm even more nervous; she tried to remain calm and composed.
Her nervousness wasn’t out of fear for herself but out of apprehension for what other excessive actions the man might take.
“Thank you, President Gu, for your speech. 𝓃𝓸𝓋𝓅𝓾𝒷.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Now, let’s toast to the Gu Family.”
Servers brought over two glasses of red wine, Jian Ran took one, clinked glasses with Gu Mochen, took a simple sip, and then set it down on the plate.
Cheers and applause erupted from the crowd; as Yuncheng City’s leading family, it was only natural that today was a gathering of the elite.
“Have someone bring a napkin for Mrs.
Gu.”
The observant host noticed the wine stain on Jian Ran’s corner of the mouth and quickly ordered someone to take care of it, Gu Mochen’s narrow eyes slightly squinted, his lips curving up.
“No need.”
The next moment, Gu Mochen bent over and took Jian Ran’s soft lips into his own.
