Chapter 360: Chapter 358: It’s real! Not dreaming…
“Wait for them to finish the test,” Sally pulled up a chair, “sit down and rest for a bit.”
Seeing the children all looking this way, Sally raised her hand and pressed down, “You’re taking a test, no getting distracted.”
Qing Linghuan’s thin lips curved up, “Let me see how well they’re doing.”
Like the invigilating teacher, Qing Linghuan walked a circle around the children, and finally stopped behind Little Shiwu, picking up her already completed math test paper.
“…” He silently finished reading, then put down the test paper and walked to Sally’s side, “Wasn’t that question you set a bit too tough?”
“Tough?” Sally looked at Little Shiwu, who was sneaking peeks at them, walked over and picked up the test paper… Twenty-eight plus forty-six equals thirty-five!
The other kids were all watching her.
Even the sleeping ones woke up.
The ones drinking milk burped contentedly, hmm… that meant they were full.
“How does Aunt Xiaomei teach you all?” Sally asked.
Manman raised her wings, “Aunt Xiaomei makes us practice our Innate Secret Technique and level up by fighting monsters every day.”
Sally: “…”
Xiaoshi also said, “Practicing spells, like— Purple Thousand Reds!”
A strand of lush, green vine burst from the ground and then began to bloom, flowers of all sorts of beautiful colors filling the classroom with fragrance.
“Not bad, but clearly, your foundational knowledge isn’t up to par. From now on, your mom will gather you all every month to take a unified test, and no one is allowed to be lazy and skip out on learning.”
Sally looked towards Qing Linghuan and asked, “Can you teach the two of them?”
“I can teach them!” Qing Linghuan bit out the words a bit tightly, “Only, isn’t every month too frequent? Maybe every three years, or five years…”
He stopped mid-sentence.
Sally’s expression clearly darkened.
“Every month! No problem.” Qing Linghuan quickly changed his tune.
Only then did Sally nod, “Then it’s settled.”
“Yanyan, shall we go outside for a talk?” Qing Linghuan said to Sally.
“Hmm.”
Sally instructed the children to continue taking their tests and that she would be outside monitoring them with the System Map.
The little ones each expressed that they would take the test seriously and follow the rules.
Only then did Sally and Qing Linghuan exit.
Outside was Rose Garden in full bloom, with swallows chirping and orioles singing, bees and butterflies fluttering, the wind wafting a heady scent.
Gazing at Qing Linghuan’s radiant beauty, Sally’s heart fluttered excitedly, and with a smile, she asked, “When did you wake up?”
“Just woke up.” Qing Linghuan raised his hand as if to touch her, but then he hesitated and let it fall.
Sally caught that hand and placed it on her face, “It’s real! I’m not dreaming, I’ve come back with the kids.”
Qing Linghuan pinched her delicate, exquisite skin, “How was it?”
“Just like that. Most of the time the children were sleeping just like you. I can’t sleep that easily, lacking your talent for deep sleep.”
“How many Beast Husbands did you find?” Qing Linghuan asked the question he most wanted to know.
With a smile, Sally looked at him and winked playfully, “Guess!”
Qing Linghuan’s fox-like eyes narrowed slightly… finally, he sighed lightly, “It’s good that you’re back alive.”
Sally, holding his hand, walked along the garden path, “Just one. To ensure safety, the children were kept in a very high-level Insurance System, and I needed to upgrade the Offspring System.”
“Did he know that he was being used as a tool?” Jealousy was thick in his voice.
The smile on Sally’s face deepened, “Mhm, he knew. So, I suppose there won’t be a future there.”
Qing Linghuan’s face finally looked a little better, “Why not seek out those from before?”
“The Holy War is a must for every female with the Offspring System, and Holy Warriors need to be childless. On Continent 9908, there are too few with Spirit Rank talent. In the end, they even found someone from the Dark Continent to make up the numbers.”
“It was the one they made up the numbers with?”
“Yes, him. What about you? Haven’t you really been sleeping all these years, have you visited the Youming Continent?”
“Just like before, I’ve only been in slumber for the past three thousand years.”
“And Lan Shi?” 𝔫𝖔𝔳𝔭𝔲𝔟.𝖈𝔬𝔪
“Lan Shi is currently in a place called Yunshan Continent, the sect leader of the Netherworld Dao.”
“Oh? I do know of that place. I went there ten thousand years ago; it’s a continent where Ordinary Humans and spirit cultivators coexist. Speaking of which…” Sally remembered that Xiaomei had once strongly urged her to take a Beast Husband, seemingly called Fen Jue.
“There are no Ordinary Humans on the Yunshan Continent now, just a continent of demonic cultivators. There is, however, a continent of Ordinary Humans called Yunxi, all of the Human Clan. There’s also a saying that some great figure is looking out for that place. Humans reproduce and flourish prolifically.”
“Compared to gods, demons, and beasts, Ordinary Humans and Mortal Beasts have an average lifespan of no more than a hundred years, so time is especially precious, no matter what they do—even having children every few years would seem, in your eyes, to be in the blink of an eye.”
“In your eyes? Wrong, it should be ‘our eyes.’ Even if you haven’t become my partner, you still have a lifespan of over a hundred thousand years, maybe even longer.”
“It’s easy to change rivers and mountains, but hard to alter one’s nature; my soul is still Human, it’s hard to change that.”
Frans returned, walking up from the garden path.
Seeing Qing Linghuan, he greeted with a smile, “Here to pick up the kids?”
“Yes,” Qing Linghuan replied, then turned to Sally, “How about spending a few days in the Demon Realm? You should make a trip to Yunmeng Island, right?”
Little Shier needed to be sent back, and Zhu Sanlang also faced a deadly tribulation.
“I do need to go over there,” Sally said, casting a sidelong glance at Frans.
Frans’s face clearly didn’t look good; who wouldn’t want to monopolize more of Sally’s time…
Sally suddenly remembered something, picked up her skirt, and hurriedly left, “I forgot they are taking exams!”
Indeed, by the time she returned to the classroom, a group of kids had already left to play together.
The exam papers were neatly arranged on the tables.
Sally picked them up to inspect…
One of the questions had an answer of twenty-eight plus forty-six equals thirty-five!
Out of eight mathematics papers, six had the answer to that question as thirty-five!
The first one with this answer was written by Little Shiwu; it was clear who copied whom at a glance.
“Except for Little Shier and Little Shisan, the rest of you must retake the exam!” Sally said with a stern face.
“Ah—,” Manman screamed in agony.
Xiaojiu, unsure of what he was eating, suddenly found it less appetizing.
Little Shiyi was indifferent, drowsy, and probably didn’t even understand what Sally was saying; even his drool-stained paper had been copied for him by Manman!
Xiaoshi asked Little Shiwu, “Did you write it wrong?”
Little Shiwu glanced at Qing Linghuan, his eyes questioning… was it wrong? Then why didn’t he tell her the correct answer!
Qing Linghuan coughed softly; he had no idea that these little ones had copied her answer.
Seeing the children’s reluctance to study, Frans laughed and said, “Yanyan, how about we don’t have the exam for now and talk about it tomorrow. Today’s brother Qing’s visit, I’ve ordered a family feast to be prepared, and Ethan is here too. He helped a lot in finding Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures during your pregnancy.”
The exam and the family feast weren’t in conflict, but since Frans had spoken, Sally gave him face and turned to the little ones, “Review well today, we’re still testing these tomorrow. Dare to get one wrong, and you’ll lose your snacks!”
Xiaojiu’s eyes widened immediately; anything related to food always caught his attention.
Upon seeing Xiaojiu’s reaction, Xiaoshi raised his hand high, “I will definitely score double hundreds!”
Manman hesitated, wanting to raise her hand but giving up in the end, whispering to Xiaoshi, “From what I know of Mom, she’s sure to change the questions tomorrow!”
