Chapter 27: New week. Topic of gossip
Meanwhile, standing on top of a high building was an old man in simple clothes. This old man was the principal of Emily’s school and had come out here to meet someone, who knew that he would encounter that Emily kid?
What’s more, that Emily’s brother...
The principal’s eyes narrowed as he recalled everything that had happened. He had seen everything from the start, it was a coincidence that Alex returned before he could act.
He was worried that the masked archmage would blame him if Emily was hurt outside the school as well, was he supposed to be monitoring the kid every second?!
"That’s not the point right now," the principal shook his head.
"Emily’s brother...I’ve seen that kid before, when did he become an Adept mage? He’s even stronger than Laura who has been in the Adept rank for over a year.
Laura’s father will definitely not overlook this matter, he’ll definitely make trouble for Emily’s brother and even target their parents. Am I supposed to look after the whole family now or just Emily?* The principal mumbled to himself, he was very confused as to what to do.
He was even considering running away so that the masked archmage who had visited his office the other day wouldn’t find him.
But...could he really hide from an archmage?
The principal rubbed his face at this point, his mind was chaotic as he couldn’t think of the next step. Why couldn’t these kids just get along?
He didn’t even do anything wrong but he was the one in a tight spot!
"Old man, are you alright?"
A voice sounded from beside the principal, startling him. He looked and saw that it was the person he was waiting for.
"It’s nothing, let’s go. I wonder why you wanted to meet here of all places."
"Haha, I picked at random; though it would be safer for the people around if we met here." The other party laughed and walked away.
The principal stared at his back and followed without saying anything.
...
Next morning...
It was the start of the week, and of course, Alex had to go to the academy.
Although he would rather go outside the border instead.
"Bye, Mom!"
Alex and Emily called out in unison as they walked out of their house and headed for their school and academy.
Yesterday, Emily had ended up talking about what had happened at the theme park to their mother. She was too excited to keep quiet despite Alex asking her not to say anything.
His mother had been shocked to hear that her son got into a fight with another mage who seemed to be his classmate, and they had used magic; she almost freaked out.
Fighting with magic was dangerous!
She was very concerned about her son since he had just become capable of using spells, but she was left speechless after Emily told her that Alex had defeated everyone with just a single spell.
Later that evening after they had dinner, Alex was invited to the living room by his parents for a chat
He could already tell what the chat was going to be about and was very unwilling to go, but he still went.
Then, his parents spent almost two hours advising him.
"I know you just started to use magic like others and must be excited but that doesn’t mean you should get into fights. You could get hurt in the process or hurt others."
Was what his mother had said.
They talked so much and Alex found himself almost sleeping off, though he managed to survive through the chat before he was allowed to return to his room.
He had spent the rest of the night reading and gained some exp before morning.
Back to the present.
Alex just left Emily’s school and was on his way to the academy, he took a glance at his system profile.
....

...
He had only 50 exp points at the moment, including the 15 that were left after he levelled up the previous time.
"Sigh, I want to go explore so bad." Alex sighed as he walked, his silver-white cloak fluttering in the morning wind.
Alex had thought about it and decided to stop working at the library; he possibly couldn’t wait for the weekend just to go farm exp outside the borders.
Although the library had a lot of books that he could read to gain exp, and he also got paid, he wouldn’t be able to focus on reading since he would have to attend to others who wanted to read, and the pay was very little.
Only 20 Zen every month! How outrageous, he could easily make more from selling a single beast corpse.
What Alex was going to do after quitting his job at the library was explore! He would go out exploring every day after coming back from the academy!
That way, he could gain more exp while getting stronger!
Alex finally arrived at the academy and headed straight for his first class. Unlike normal schools, the academy didn’t hold morning assemblies for the students.
The information would be passed out by teachers if needed.
Alex’s first class this morning was about magic beast habitat and behaviour; the topic was treated by a bluey middle-aged man.
The class lasted for two hours since there were a lot of things to cover. During the class, Alex noticed that the surrounding students were throwing him odd looks while whispering to each other.
After the class ended, the teacher left and the class immediately became lively as the students began to gossip in loud voices, not minding that Alex was present.
"Did you know? That trash, Alex, fought against goddess Laura yesterday."
"What? You must be joking, how can that even be possible?"
"He’s telling the truth, I saw it too. It happened at the theme park yesterday."
"Yes, yes, I was there too and watched the fight. Alex defeated goddess Laura’s two guards with a single move!"
"What? Isn’t he trash? How can he use spells as an apprentice mage?"
"Bro, look closely. The trash finally reached the Adept rank!"
A lot of students turned to look at Alex at this moment, due to the aura meter still set to Adept rank, they all believed that he was in the Adept rank.
"Waw, it’s true!"
"Good for him, he finally reached the Adept rank after four years, how slow."
"It’s still good; I thought he would be in the apprentice mage rank forever; it turns out he was a late bloomer."
"Still, that doesn’t allow him to fight the goddess, he should be at the low stage of the Adept rank; he isn’t goddess Laura’s match."
"What you said is correct, they didn’t actually fight. I saw the goddess suddenly vomit blood when she was about to blast him, I think he did something inappropriate to her."
"Trash will always be trash, he dared to use terrible methods since he can’t win against the goddess; brothers, we must teach him a lesson."
Alex silently listened to the surrounding students gossip about what had happened yesterday and they planned to avenge Laura by targeting him in the competition that was starting later this week.
A grin formed on his face which no one noticed. 𝔫𝖔𝖛𝖕𝖚𝔟.𝖈𝖔𝔪
’You are all welcome to try me, I’m looking for a chance to avenge the previous Alex as well.’

Hello everyone, author here.
I’ve realized that I set the price of privilege Chapters a bit too high and would sincerely want to apologize for it. It’s one thing to lock the Chapters early and setting the privileges Chapters at a high price is very unacceptable.
I understand this as a reader myself. But what’s done is done and can’t be edited.
As compensation, the privilege Chapters for next month will all be set to half the prices of this month. I hope this will be enough to show my sincerity. For now, you can all continue to buy privilege tiers to show support or simply wait for normal released Chapters.
I’ll spread this note across a few Chapters to make sure everyone sees it.
