Chapter 1247: 399. Unexpected Place_2
“`
Countless celestial bodies passed by him as white points of light, too fast for Noland Lee to make out their specific appearance and size. He couldn’t even track a single one from the moment it appeared directly in front of him to the moment it disappeared behind him.
It was too fast, the teleportation speed was too fast, and it was a straight line, without any curves.
Noland often saw celestial bodies emerge as specks in front of him, before rapidly growing into massive gray planets that hurtled toward him, their craters and mountains clearly visible on the surface.
Fortunately, teleportation through inner and outer cosmos didn’t result in physical collisions, or else Noland would have been smashed into pulp by countless planets or devoured by the dazzling stars halfway through his journey.
After moving rapidly through the starry sky for an indefinite period, a planet with reddish-brown land appeared before Noland.
...
As this planet appeared, the speed of teleportation decreased significantly, and Noland guessed this was his destination.
Noland compared the appearance of this planet with the one he remembered.
Both were reddish-brown and pitted with craters.
However, the image of the planet shown by the Scroll Angel didn’t include interstellar ships hovering in low orbit, did it?
Noland watched the ships that resembled large catfish, steadily orbiting the planet at low altitude, occasionally dropping dozens of black metal lumps toward the ground.
Noland’s gaze followed the plummeting metal lumps, faintly making out their appearance as some kind of landing pods rapidly descending to ground level from low orbit.
These pods, instead of firing flames for reverse thrust to slow their descent, smashed into the reddish-brown land, leaving black hollows on the surface amidst loud bangs and clouds of dust.
Landing pods burrowing into the ground using gravitational potential energy? Noland pondered silently. 𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒑𝒖𝙗.𝒄𝒐𝒎
Had he stumbled upon some star fleet conducting operations in the subsurface spaces of the planet?
Noland squinted at the interstellar battleship closest to him.
He was still in the state of transport, with a considerable distance above the ground, at the same altitude as the interstellar ships.
Noland wasn’t sure whether these interstellar ships could detect him.
If the crew of the ship saw a large, living human or an unidentified flying object pass close by their battleship, he wondered what kind of thoughts they would have…
Noland noticed a bear head with a blood-dripping sword blade stuck atop it on the outer panel of the battleship. This was probably the insignia of the fleet these interstellar ships belonged to.
Unfortunately.
The Scroll Angel had infused Noland with a good deal of outer space knowledge, but it was all related to extraordinary factors.
Ordinary, interstellar fleets like the one before him with no direct relation to extraordinary elements were not on the Scroll Angel’s watchlist. Therefore, Noland naturally couldn’t identify their origins.
“Forget it, let’s land first.”
Noland’s gaze shifted to the reddish-brown ground, which was gradually enlarging before him, ready to hide himself with the ‘Veil of Different Worlds’ as soon as he landed.
But…
But he went through, he went straight through the reddish-brown ground.
Noland was clearly stunned for a moment, feeling puzzled in his heart:
“Isn’t the teleportation over yet? Could the destination coordinates set by the Scroll Angel not be on the ground?”
Noland, in an energy state, passed through the reddish-brown soil downward, traveling a vertical distance of at least three kilometers before coming to a stop in an underground chamber lit by faint green light.
Now, Noland felt his condition was very odd.
He seemed to have regained control over his body, but this body was not the flesh and blood he had when he left the Inner Cosmos. Instead, it was a genuine Skeleton Frame.
This Skeleton Body was seated on a Throne made of Stone bricks, and the Throne was placed on a High Platform, below which the ground was covered with gold and silver treasures, among which bones protruded from beneath the jewelry.
The faint green light that barely illuminated the Underground Space emanated from the lamps on the Stone Pillars.
Noland turned his head slightly, wanting to see what was emitting the green light.
The connection between his skull and spinal column made a crackling sound, and Noland seriously doubted whether his head would fall off the fragile vertebrae, forcing him to stop the somewhat rash movement.
There still was a problem with the teleportation…
Noland sighed silently in his heart.
“`
The appearance of this planet was almost as the Scroll Angel had described, but the things on the planet did not match the information.
It was highly likely that Noland Lee had landed on a planet with the same reddish-brown ground.
But as for where exactly this planet was or what its name was, Noland had no way of knowing for the time being.
Noland pondered for a moment before silently chanting in his mind,
“Activate detection spell, the target is myself.”
[You are currently incapacitated. It is recommended to use Spell Blueprints in conjunction with nasal sounds to cast the sound wave detection spell ‘Sound Seeker Technique’.]
System Text coalesced in his mind, and Noland let out a quiet sigh of relief.
He glanced at the Spell Blueprint that appeared in his mind and tried to force out a light hum through the tip of his nose.
The faint nasal sound, almost imperceptible, transformed into sound waves that swiftly swept over Noland’s entire body and then reflected back into his mind, helping Noland to complete a simple self-detection.
[The ‘Power of Senati’ has locked your body, rendering you unable to use most of your abilities.]
[This effect lasts for 13 minutes and 22 seconds. Once the countdown ends, the ‘Power of Senati’ will fade, and you will regain your mobility.]
[Meanwhile, due to the influence of the ‘Power of Senati’, you are temporarily in an ancient Skeleton Form. After the countdown, you can return to your original form through magic.]
It seemed the teleportation process had encountered extraordinary problems.
In the last few days within the Inner Cosmos, the Scroll Angel had mentioned that the cherished Ceremony arranged in cooperation with the ‘Escape Core of the Plane’ would protect Noland from the effects of ‘Gilenz’s Power’ and ‘Power of Senati’.
‘Gilenz’s Power’ would trap beings from the Inner Cosmos within it, while ‘Power of Senati’ would make the things from the Inner Cosmos undergo rapid temporal evolution upon entering the Outer Space, transforming them into specific forms.
The dark scenes he had encountered during the teleportation must have been the result of ‘Gilenz’s Power’ acting on him.
Now, having left the Inner Cosmos, ‘Gilenz’s Power’ did not hold him back, but the ‘Power of Senati’ had caused no small amount of trouble.
Fortunately, the ‘Power of Senati’ would dissipate on its own, so Noland didn’t have to worry about being stuck indefinitely in an immobile skeleton figure.
Then he would just wait.
Once the countdown was over, he would be a living human again.
“Boom…”
Vibrations came from above, as sand and pebbles fell from the cracks in the ceiling.
“Oh, right, how could I forget about those landing pods that can burrow into the ground.”
Noland’s heart sank slightly, realizing that the treasure-filled Basement he was in might soon attract unwelcome visitors.
Noland thought to himself,
“Seek the control spells, defensive spells, detection spells, and offensive spells that can be cast in the current state.”
The ‘Heart of Magic’ was not within Noland’s Skeleton frame but in his Soul, so there was no need to worry about strangers seeing a glowing Magic Heart inside this bony framework.
Whenever Noland needed it, the ‘Heart of Magic’ could provide the accurate answer.
[The current control spells available for casting are ‘Foul Whispering Technique’, ‘Upside Down’, ‘Mud Ground Technique’.]
[The current defensive spells available for casting are ‘Telekinetic Bone Shield’, ‘Golden Wall Silver Wall’.]
[The current detection spell available for casting is ‘Sound Seeker Technique’.]
[The current offensive spells available for casting are ‘Telekinetic Bone Sword’, ‘Treasure Shoot’.]
Noland nodded slightly.
Although he lacked Panel Information, he could still discern some tricks from these spells.
‘Power of Senati’ had just immobilized his body; his consciousness, Spirit, and telekinesis were still functional.
Noland gathered all his strength to puff out his chest and let out a forceful hum, squeezing out a large blob of Air through his nostrils to cast the dull sound waves.
The ‘Sound Seeker Technique’ was cast once more, this time targeting the area outside the Hidden Chamber.
