Chapter 967: 301. Avoid tragedy

Tonight was destined to be a sleepless night for Light Wizard Jay Spade.

Inside the ivory-white church building, thunder illuminated the gold-leaf-covered walls.

Beneath the sacred crystal chandeliers, a group of Pure Light Wizards stood around the central round table.

Their gazes fixed on the dark clouds flickering with lightning.

They chanted softly, releasing golden runes from the palms of their outstretched hands.

The runes fluttered like butterflies, lining up in formation, revolving around the clouds, gradually forming an inward-tightening golden halo.

...

“Boom…”

The clouds surged, and intense lightning appeared with deafening thunder.

Seemingly sensing the constraints of the golden halo, the wild clouds struggled momentarily.

They expanded, contracted, and several twisted flashes of lightning surged forth, striking the gilded wall but leaving no scorch marks behind. 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘱𝘶𝑏.𝑐𝘰𝑚

The golden halo spun several circles around its axis, the dark clouds resisted fiercely, and the grand space was alive with flashes of lightning.

The lightning grew denser, and the cloud’s size rapidly diminished.

In the end, when nearly all of the thunder and lightning energy within the cloud had dissipated, everything settled down.

The cloud had lost the form of a “cloud.”

It now seemed to be encased in a spherical shell, changing from a flat shape into a rounded sphere.

Though it remained filled with dark vapors, under the contrast of the golden halo, it resembled a black gaseous celestial body with its own asteroid belt rather than a “cloud.”

The Pure Light Wizards around the round table lowered their hands.

Jay Spade was among them.

He took a deep breath and looked behind him.

On the high platform built from white stone bricks stood a figure in splendid attire.

Jay Spade approached the base of the platform, looked up, and said:

“Lord Paredes, Purifying Light Magic is not well-suited for controlling creations of lightning magic, yet we have ultimately succeeded. The cloud has been sealed by us, and it no longer poses a threat of uncontrollable energy dissipation.”

Paredes took a step forward, leaned on the high platform’s railing with both arms, and said, leaning over:

“You did well, Jay Spade. Now, go test the might of this wild magic. We need to ascertain its potential danger as soon as possible.”

“Yes, my lord.”

Jay Spade bowed in salute and turned back to the round table.

He gathered the Pure Light Wizards around him, issuing a few commands.

The ordered Light Wizards dispersed, cooperating in their respective tasks.

Some activated the magic circle, while others prepared the Magic Gems filled with thunder and lightning energy.

After more than ten minutes, several oddly shaped magical devices appeared around the round table.

These devices had front-narrow, back-wide metal barrels, magic chains capable of high-speed magical energy conduction, and wide, sturdy metal bases.

Jay Spade referred to these magical devices as ‘Magic Infusers.’

He checked each device’s condition one by one and then returned to the round table, commanding:

“Activate Magic Infuser number one, infuse the cloud with 100 million points of thunder and lightning energy.”

“Yes, my lord.”

The Pure Light Wizard at the Magic Infuser number one nodded in response and pressed the mechanical switch on the device.

“Hummm…”

With a faint vibration, the magic circle behind the Magic Infuser activated first.

This ground-level magic circle, with its unadorned circular appearance, had a sparkling Magic Gem crushed in its center, which burst with a crackling sound.

Thunder and lightning energy leaped forth from the shattered gem.

Invisible magical power bound the violent energy into slender satin ribbons, stuffing them into the pipeline of the Magic Infuser.

“Hummm…”

Another vibration followed.

This time the Magic Infuser responded.

Bright blue thunder and lightning energy traveled through the glass pipeline of the device, lighting it up from back to front and finally bursting forth from the Infuser’s barrel.

The water pillar-like energy crossed nearly ten meters of distance, falling into the spherical cloud.

The cloud slowly expanded, and the golden halo that surrounded it also spread out in circles.

After maintaining this sight for less than three seconds, the magic circle was depleted of its thunder and lightning energy.

“Lord Jay Spade, the infusion is successful,” the operator of the Magic Infuser announced loudly.

Jay Spade nodded and made a few gestures with his hand.

Another group of Pure Light Wizards activated a new magic circle, summoning a Magic Target specific for testing the might of spells at a distance several tens of meters from the round table.

Jay Spade raised his left hand, shooting a golden light column into the cloud, and with his right hand, he pulled out the diamond-encrusted magic equipment, pointing it at the Magic Target.

“Boom, boom, boom…”

Thunderous sounds emanated from within the cloud.

After eight seconds had passed.

“Crackle!”

Jagged lightning shot towards the Magic Target, stirring up a strong gust of wind in the spacious Grand Hall.

“BOOM!!!”

The lightning smashed into the Magic Target, scattering a multitude of electric snakes and causing a subtle tremor in the ground and walls.

The humanoid Magic Target, about five meters tall and robust in figure, seemed weighty.

Yet, at the moment, it swayed back and forth like a drunken man, nearly toppling over.

Once the Magic Target had stabilized, a few lines of magical characters appeared:

“Thunder and lightning energy might: 10 million points.”

“Hiss… My god… ten million points…”

“Lord Jay Spade can actually cast lightning magic with a might of ten million points, even though he is not proficient in lightning magic…”
