Chapter 1100: Chapter 1100: How Long Has It Been Since We Parted_1 Chapter 1100 -1100: How Long Has It Been Since We Parted_1 With that remark, Peggy Lewis was utterly left speechless.

Lyke just chuckled without explaining why he found it amusing.

What she understood was, Lyke equated her statement with her desiring him.

How was she supposed to address this fact?

A sudden thought flashed through Peggy’s mind, and she retorted, “Well why are you laughing then?

Lyke paused, thinking how sharp Peggy had become.

She was counterattacking now.

...

“Well!” Lyke chuckled again, “I just like hearing you talk.

Whenever you talk, I can’t help but feel good and want to laugh.”

Peggy fell silent: “…”

It’s terrible, she wasn’t even sleepy in the first place.

Now, talking to Lyke, she felt even more awake.

Peggy even had the thought, it would have been better if she had stayed with Lyke for the night.

Staying in her own bedroom, Peggy found herself feeling a little unaccustomed now.

Thus, Peggy and Lyke continued their conversation.

Neither was conscious of how much time they actually spent talking.

They eventually fell asleep unknowingly.

Peggy didn’t check the time, but Lyke did.

When he heard Peggy’s voice gradually ceasing over the phone, Lyke quietly called out again, “Peggy?”

“Hm?” Peggy’s voice was thick with sleep, as if she was already in her dreams.

She only responded subconsciously after hearing her name being called.

Lyke faintly smiled upon hearing this, listening for a bit longer and confirming that Peggy had indeed fallen asleep.

He wished he were there by Peggy’s side right now, he could’ve turned off her mobile phone for her.

Checking the time on his phone, Lyke found it was already almost three.

He had to admit that he was starting to feel drowsy now too.

Listening to the sound of Peggy’s breathing over the phone, Lyke was rather reluctant to hang up.

Falling asleep to the sound of her breathing seemed quite nice.

With that thought in mind, since voice calls on Whatsapp are free after all, the only thing being used was data.

Peggy was using wifi at home, so not even data was being used.

The only thing that was being wasted now was battery power.

Lyke thought, “A bit of wasted battery is not a big deal, it doesn’t matter.”

He could always charge it at home.

And so, Lyke fumbled for the charging cable on his bedside table.

He had a charging cable plugged into the nearby socket.

This was so he could directly plug in his phone or tablet if the battery was running low while he was in bed, without any delay.

So now, all Lyke had to do was reach out and pull the charging cable closer to him.

It was extremely handy.

Charging his phone, Lyke no longer worried about his phone suddenly running out of battery and him not being able to hear Peggy’s breathing.

What’s more, Lyke actually pulled open his bedside table drawer.

He took out the charging case for his bluetooth earphones.

He opened the lid and pulled out the earphones.

The earphones automatically connected to the bluetooth on his phone.

Without minding the discomfort, Lyke put on the earphones.

Suddenly, Peggy’s breathing sounded much clearer.

Lyke gave a satisfying smile and finally began to sleep.

Peggy, on the other hand, seemed to have developed a preference for her own bed and took quite a while to fall asleep.

However, since she had gone to bed so late.

She had difficulty waking up in the morning.

Given it was a Sunday, Peggy felt perfectly fine sleeping in.

Normally when at Lyke’s place, they both would wake up late on the weekends.

However, Peggy still cared about her image and felt embarrassed to sleep in too late, so she usually woke up around 9 or 10 in the morning.

Now that she was at her parents’ house, Peggy slept without a worry.

However, in her sleep, she heard voices coming from outside.

It was evident that the voices outside were deliberately quiet, as if they didn’t want to wake her up.

Effectively, the voices weren’t loud and even faded in and out at times.

In her half-asleep state, Peggy could hear the sound of more than just her mother and father.

It sounded like they had guests.

As she gradually woke up, Peggy found herself unable to go back to sleep.

She reached for her phone and saw it was just past 10, quite a bit earlier than she expected.

Peggy rubbed her face and got up.

Fortunately, her room had a restroom.

Although it was small, it was quite convenient.

Peggy headed to the restroom to freshen up, and noting the presence of guests, she changed out of her pajamas.

Peggy was curious as to why there were so many guests in their house.

She really hoped Mrs.

Lewis hadn’t invited a prospective suitor over.

All cleaned up and dressed, Peggy left her room.

She was expecting a guest, but as soon as she stepped out of the room, she heard a familiar voice.

Even before laying eyes on the person, Peggy knew it had to be Lyke.

She walked out in surprise and saw Lyke indeed sitting on the sofa, engaging in conversation with her parents.

Mr.

Lewis appeared to be very familiar with Lyke already.

The three of them were deep in conversation, as if they had known each other for quite a while and were very well-acquainted.

“Peggy, you’re up early?” Upon seeing Peggy, Lyke was the first to greet her with a smile.

“It’s not early.” He spoke as if she usually woke up very late.

Mrs.

Lewis looked at them both curiously.

Why did Lyke’s comment suggest that he knew Peggy’s usual waking time?

Mr.

Lewis was even quicker to react, immediately asking, “Why do you seem to know when Peggy usually wakes up?”

Peggy instantly became nervous and subtly winked at Lyke, hinting for him to not let their secret out.

Demonstrating his calm demeanor, Lyke gently smiled and explained, “Well, isn’t today Sunday?

Typically when I’m at home and off work, I tend to wake up later.

I figured Peggy would do the same.”

“That makes sense.” Mrs.

Lewis agreed with a nod.

Lyke then asked with a hint of guilt, “Did I wake you up?”

“No,” Peggy shook her head, “I just woke up naturally.”

Lyke frowned slightly, “You had only slept for 7 hours.

How did you wake up naturally?”

This time, even Mrs.

Lewis caught on quickly and asked, “How do you know Peggy only slept for 7 hours?”

Both she and Mr.

Lewis had no idea.

Peggy: “…”

Lyke explained, “I was on the phone with Peggy last night.

We were talking and she eventually fell asleep.

I happened to check the time then, it was almost three.”

“Oh my!” Mrs.

Lewis revealed a surprised and delighted expression.

She couldn’t help but look at Peggy, her thoughts written all over her face and making it impossible to hide.

If this wasn’t a sign of being in love, then what was?

They had only been apart for a very short time.

Lyke had left only yesterday evening.

Just after a few hours?

They were already on the phone again, and even until 3 a.m.

How much did they have to talk about to be on the phone for that long?

Peggy: “…”

Seeing Mrs.

Lewis’ reaction, Peggy knew exactly what her mother was thinking.
