Chapter 1157: Chapter 1157: I Won’t Let You Down_1 Chapter 1157 -1157: I Won’t Let You Down_1 However, the Old Madam abruptly changed the subject, telling Lyke Zhekova, “Take Peggy back home on the weekend.

Although she’s been here before, she hasn’t come as your girlfriend.

Now that your relationship has changed, she’ll need to follow the routine as if she’s your fiancée.”

See, the speed at which Old Madam and Lyke Zhekova were moving was pretty similar.

One was talking about having wedding candy soon, and the other had barely started dating and had already assumed the role of fiancée.

Peggy was completely unaware of any of these plans.

Reading through the group chat, Samson Zhekova was left dumbfounded.

He thought to himself, Lyke and the Old Madam had directly promoted Peggy to fiancée status, but did they even bother to ask Peggy?

...

“Fourth Uncle, congrats.” Ethan Zhekova, who rarely chatted in the group, popped up to make a rare comment.

Ethan always found group chats to be rather absurd.

He thought they made him look idle and he was beyond that.

He enjoyed acting aloof in the group chat, rarely speaking, giving off the impression that he was constantly busy.

Only when he saw Lyke’s relationship status change did he come out to make a comment.

Otherwise, he would only seem as if he didn’t care about his family.

However, Ethan truly congratulated Lyke from the bottom of his heart.

Because Lyke, like Adrian Zhekova, had chosen an ordinary person.

Of course, Lyke was just a tad better off than Adrian.

At least Peggy’s family, though ordinary, wasn’t a burden.

Not like Cindy’s family, which was utterly hopeless.

Only Adrian Zhekova could endure such a family.

Would any average person be able to stand life with Cindy?

Their days would have been scattered.

However, Lyke was only marginally better off than Adrian.

Having spent a lot of time with Adrian, even Lyke’s tastes seemed to have been corrupted.

He started off with high expectations, and only managed to find an ordinary girlfriend at the age of 37.

And she offers no help whatsoever.

Lyke’s thought process was something Ethan couldn’t understand.

But, for Ethan, Lyke’s choice was nothing but a positive as it didn’t do him, Ethan, any harm.

Although, if you asked Ethan what tangible benefits he got, he wouldn’t be able to answer.

Because Lyke wasn’t competing for any family resources.

The two of them didn’t really have any conflicting interests.

But Ethan was the type of person who found joy in others misfortunes, regardless if he gained anything out of it or not.

He found it ludicrous that people in the chat were making a fuss over something like this.

Lyke was absurdly happy, as if he had found a treasure.

Even though they were simply texting in a group chat, everyone could immediately sense Ethan’s disdain.

Lyke was less than thrilled with Ethan’s comments.

It might seem like he was always irritated with the Old Madam, but they were genuinely close, so they could laugh and joke about anything.

As for Ethan, Lyke didn’t need to face him to guess what he was thinking.

Lyke sneered.

Ethan had been led astray by his own father.

He only saw things in terms of their potential for profit and was always calculating his next move.

At that moment, Lyke simply responded with a cold, “Thank you.”

As for Cindy, when she woke up that day, she saw a message that Peggy had sent in the middle of the night.

Thus, she knew about the situation a little earlier than the Old Madam and others, but only by a little bit.

Lyke had announced it so early because of his impatience.

Before this, only Cindy had told Adrian and had not mentioned it in the group chat.

For something like this, it was more appropriate for Lyke, the actual person involved, to announce it.

On her way to school, Cindy started a chat with Peggy on Whatsapp and asked her about the details.

“So, your Fourth Uncle finally confessed his feelings to you after all this time.

But why so suddenly?

What triggered him?” Cindy asked.

Peggy immediately caught onto the important part: “You knew about this beforehand?”

“I had somewhat of an idea.” Cindy admitted honestly, “Our Old Master, the Old Madam, Third Grandpa, they all knew about the Fourth Uncle’s feelings for you.

I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to put pressure on you.”

“At first, I was scared that his interest in you came out of curiosity.

Once that was satisfied, he could leave quickly, but if you had fallen for him, that would result in you getting hurt.

So, I chose not to say anything, better you remain clueless and let Fourth Uncle decide what he truly felt.” Cindy explained.

“But once I realized that he truly had feelings for you, I felt relieved and let Fourth Uncle take over.

I feared that you might not feel the same about him and didn’t want to pressure you by speaking up about it.

If you didn’t like him, being oblivious would make it easier for you to reject him.”

With the personalities of Lyke and Adrian, on the other hand,

Once they become attracted to someone, it would be impossible for them to face rejection.

They would use various tactics, and sooner or later, they would make the central figure in their love story surrender.

Cindy sent a praying hands emoji to Peggy: “Please, don’t be mad at me.”

Peggy had no reason to be mad at Cindy.

It was mainly because she herself wasn’t quick on picking up on emotional cues,

It was better to listen to Cindy.

After all, Cindy would never do anything to harm her.

However, Peggy still pretended to be mad when she replied: “I’ll let this one slip since you were our matchmaker.

But from now on, you can’t keep things from me.”

“Of course, other than this, I haven’t kept anything from you.

Not about Morgan, not about Adrian, nor my family matters, I haven’t concealed anything from you.” Cindy replied.

This was the part that moved Peggy the most.

“Alright then, I suppose, for the sake of you being our matchmaker, I’ll let this slide.” Peggy typed back with a smile.

Seeing Peggy’s message made Cindy laugh: “Are you saying that the red packet from the matchmaker should be waived?”

Peggy was bent over laughing as she replied, “I’ve been kept in the dark.

If you want a red packet, ask your Fourth Uncle.”

“Well then, when should I start calling you Fourth Aunt?” Cindy teased.

Her words made Peggy blush profusely: “That’s something you should ask him, as of now, it’s not suitable.”

Cindy exclaimed in surprise, “Oh, so you’re ready to marry Fourth Uncle at any moment?”

Peggy wasn’t embarrassed with Cindy, so she spoke honestly, “Yes, I’m ready.

We’ve already moved in together, even though we haven’t…

you know.”

Cindy didn’t tease her.

At this point, Peggy was speaking frankly.

This wasn’t a time to make jokes.

“But since we’re already living together, it’s just a matter of time.” Peggy continued, “I’m not the type of person to rush into things, but since I agreed to him and moved in with him, I prepared myself mentally.”

“From my perspective, I’ve decided to see this through with him.

And even if we don’t make it till the end, I wouldn’t regret it.” Peggy confessed.

Because she truly loved Lyke.

“Don’t worry,” Cindy reassured her, “Fourth Uncle won’t disappoint you.”
