"Good riddance!"
On the way home from school in the afternoon, several middle schoolers on modified motorcycles were barreling down the road, and the next second, one of them attempting a wheelie crashed and his gear exploded all over the place.
Seated on the school bus, Xu Qingfan couldn’t help but clap his hands in delight.
"Tsk tsk tsk~" Xiao Ruawen also shook her head and sighed, saying, "I hope the road is okay."
The school bus didn’t stop, its wheels rolling over the scattered gear.
Xia Xiaoxiao withdrew her gaze and furrowed her brow, saying, "They were wearing the Licheng Middle School uniform, right? Doesn’t the school care at all?"
Licheng Middle School was only a few hundred meters away from Lianhua Courtyard, and they often encountered students wearing Licheng Middle School uniforms.
"You think this is still primary school? Those middle schoolers are taller than the teachers, they dare to hit them when provoked, and the school can’t just expel them, how can they handle it?"
"What?" Wu Lingyu’s mouth hung open in disbelief, the idea of students hitting teachers was just too outrageous in her value system.
"Yikes~ Licheng Middle School is really like this? I kind of don’t even want to go there anymore," Xiao Ruawen said with a look of disgust.
"What do you know? You haven’t even been to middle school!" Xia Xiaoxiao looked at Xu Qingfan incredulously, her mother was a primary school teacher, and she had never heard of any students hitting teachers.
"Why would I lie to you, just go home and search for Licheng Middle School on Tieba, there’s loads of dark history there, students hitting teachers, teen pregnancies, and even forming gangs, more thrilling than TV dramas!" Xu Qingfan, having attended Licheng Middle School in his previous life, knew the school all too well.
Middle school wasn’t even the worst of it; some nursing and high schools that could be entered with scores of two to three hundred were the real-life versions of delinquent schools.
Unfortunately, this middle school was already the best one in Li City.
If you enrolled based on proximity, you inevitably had to deal with the bad apples spoiling the bunch.
Compared to the high school he attended in his previous life, it had far fewer issues, and there weren’t even smokers.
"Yikes~ You’ve talked me out of it, Experimental Primary School is much better!"
After hearing Xu Qingfan’s account, all three girls started to recoil from the idea of their upcoming middle school life in September.
Xu Qingfan also couldn’t help but think back to his and Xia Xiaoxiao’s middle school days, including the study group leader whose arm got broken.
Although they weren’t boarding this time around, just thinking about Xia Xiaoxiao and the other girls potentially being bothered by some jerks like in the last life, being harassed and called names, made Xu Qingfan quite upset.
Given his current status, confronting those troublemakers head-on like in his past life was out of the question, understanding that a person of his standing shouldn’t degrade himself by clashing with the unworthy.
[I need to take the opportunity before school starts to improve the campus environment of Licheng Middle School.] Xu Qingfan thought to himself.
For him now, it wasn’t a difficult task, just a matter of finding an opportunity to mention it to Zhang Chaoqun or Zhang Chunxue.
"No worries, Ruan Wen, with your skills, why fear anything? Unless they get close, four or five middle schoolers can’t take you!" After figuring it out, Xu Qingfan quickly brushed off the concerns and teased Xiao Ruawen.
"Hmph~ Of course, my Kung Fu skills were all learned from the sisters in the army, don’t think it’s like what the news portrays!" Xiao Ruawen crossed her arms, looking quite proud.
After hearing this, they all remembered a news piece they had seen on their browsers and laughed out loud.
A woman encounters an armed robber on the street, performs sixteen sets of military boxing, gets stabbed thirty-two times, and dies from her wounds.
"Still laughing, still laughing, all your virtues docked for ten years!" Xiao Ruawen said and then broke out laughing herself.
"Hahaha..."
Xiao Ruawen was the first to get off the bus soon after, and the school bus soon continued to Lianhua Courtyard.
The three got off the bus, watched as the school bus drove away, and then walked shoulder to shoulder into the courtyard.
"Let’s go home and drop off our backpacks. I bet my mom didn’t buy groceries again, we’ll go together later," Xu Qingfan said, kicking away a dog that shuffled up to them, as usual.
"Okay!"
"I want braised potatoes!"
"Yu, what do you want to eat tonight?"
"I’m not picky, anything is fine, but it’d be even better if I could have some of your ginger scallion chicken!" Wu Lingyu said and then teasingly stuck out her tongue at him.
"And you say you’re not picky. It requires a trip to the market to buy ingredients; supermarket frozen chicken just won’t do!" Xu Qingfan said with a smile, patting her on the backpack.
"Hehe!" Having spent years together, Wu Lingyu had developed a playful spirit typical of girls her age.
By the time Xu Qingfan had finished cooking and came out of the kitchen, the two girls were already waiting for him in the living room.
"Let’s go, just as I thought, we don’t have any vegetables at home," he said, slipping on the reusable shopping bag hanging on the wall.
Experimental Primary School had just two lessons on Friday afternoon, with the last being a physical education class. They took the school bus home for the weekend, arriving before 4:30 PM.
After getting home, the trio would take a walk to the nearby market to shop for dinner, a typical, pleasant afternoon, and it was when Xu Qingfan felt most relaxed.
As they were older now, they no longer walked hand in hand down the streets like they did when they were younger.
Usually, Xia Xiaoxiao and Wu Lingyu would link hands, walking a pace behind Xu Qingfan.
"Lychees for sale this early?" As the three walked towards Fupeng Market, a stall selling lychees manned by an old woman caught Xia Xiaoxiao’s attention.
