Chapter 131: 131, Just One Look, Became Her Target

Chapter 131: 131, Just One Look, Became Her Target

Bai Rubing chose to go to the subway station instead of asking to be dropped off at home because she knew that the boss’s generous gesture of giving her a ride was not because of her, Bai Rubing, but because of Song Qinghuan.

Right now, she felt lucky enough to be sitting in the car. She couldn’t push her luck too much, or risk becoming annoying.

After all, this situation was something she had never dared to dream of before.

She knew that the relationship between the general manager and Song Qinghuan might not be what everyone thought. Their relationship was probably better than what the rumors indicated.

But Song Qinghuan was already married, so what was going on between her and the general manager?

She didn’t understand, nor did she want to understand the dynamics between the two of them. As long as it didn’t obstruct her from achieving her goals, everything was fine.

With these thoughts in mind, Bai Rubing’s gaze, through the rearview mirror, fell on Shi Yuhuan.

He looked the same as he did when she first met him years ago – dressed in a black suit, plain shirt, and black leather shoes, lazily reading the newspaper. His handsome lips lightly pressed together, appearing elegant and courteous, yet also exuding an intense vibe.

She knew about him while she was still in college, knew that he was the pride of Chinese-Americans on Wall Street. By a stroke of luck, she had been given the opportunity to work in his company.

The orientation for the new employees was conducted by him. He looked at everyone indifferently. They were so close, yet he seemed to be standing on a cloud high above.

That was the first time she realized that people could rise very high, and only those at the top could have a more exciting life. At that moment, she felt that her life had a goal.

Just one glance at this man, and he became the target of her lifelong pursuit.

The car stopped at a red light. After this intersection, the subway station was straight ahead. Bai Rubing was reluctant to leave, but she also knew how to keep things in proportion.

There is plenty of time in the future. She shouldn’t rush things.

The “buzzing” sound suddenly rang out. It was Song Qinghuan’s phone ringing, interrupting Bai Rubing’s thoughts. She turned around and smiled at Song Qinghuan: “Your phone!”

Song Qinghuan had already taken out her phone by this point. She returned the smile, then looked down at the caller ID.

It was an unknown number, which made her a little reluctant to answer, but after hesitating for a moment, she still answered the call: “Who is it?”

“Little Huanhuan.” The man on the other end of the phone, his white teeth gleaming, cheerfully called out her name.

The voice was far too familiar. It was as familiar as it could possibly be.

She mentally groaned in regret for taking the call: “Zhan Cheng, it’s you!”

Zhan Cheng laughingly asked: “Who else would call you but me? Where are you now?”
