Chapter 162: 162, Robbery, caught off guard

Chapter 162: 162, Robbery, caught off guard

At that time, she had to put on a show of panic, otherwise, she would definitely be suspected of probing.

The disturbance earlier was quite significant, instinctively, everyone would have turned their attention toward it, and she believed they must have all seen the pictures.

If these photos really hid something, then she believed someone would come looking for her very soon.

Maybe it was a disaster, but she was ready, waiting for the storm to come. 𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙥𝒖𝒃.𝒄𝒐𝒎

However, what she had never expected was that the storm would arrive so quickly, catching her off guard.

Following Shi Yuhuan’s instructions from the morning, Song Qinghuan sent him a message after work and then waited for him at the crossroad, all by herself.

She was afraid that if she finished work and got into Shi Yuhuan’s car straight away, people would see. So, she deliberately stayed at work for an extra half hour, to nudge out of the peak traffic time.

Now, the sky had already darkened. The gloomy street light shone down through the trees by the road, casting mottled shadows.

She’d been waiting for Shi Yuhuan for quite a while now, but he still hadn’t shown.

Growing impatient, Song Qinghuan sent him another message.

Cars were passing by one after another. When the lights from the distance hit, it momentarily blinded her.

It was only a blink, and suddenly there was a man walking towards her from the front.

As a single girl alone outside after dark, she instinctively tightened her grip on her bag.

But the man quickened his pace, ghostly moving to her side, and with one hand, he grabbed and pressed down on her bag.

Overpowered by the sudden strength of the man, Song Qinghuan found herself thrown to the ground. Regardless of how tightly she held onto it, the man managed to forcefully snatch her bag.

“Robbery…” She immediately screamed at the top of her lungs. The swinging headlights of the passing cars illuminated the man’s figure.

In the blink of an eye, the man had already run far away.

Regaining her senses, Song Qinghuan immediately got up from the ground, desperately chasing after him while shouting, “robbery, robbery…”

If it were just money and a phone, Song Qinghuan wouldn’t risk so much. After all, as a lone woman, it was highly dangerous to chase after a robber — worldly possessions were of no concern compared to her life, which she wouldn’t risk for such matters.

However, her bag contained the photographs — those few blurry pictures of her brother were all she had left — if she lost those, she’d lose everything.

Her heart-wrenching screams alerted the purse-snatcher, knowing that she was hot on his heels. As a result, he sped up even more, soon leaving Song Qinghuan far behind.

“Squeak—” Suddenly, a luxurious private car drove onto the sidewalk, quickly overtaking him and making a swift turn to block his path.

Frightened, the purse-snatcher stopped abruptly, attempting to take a detour from behind, but the private car instantly reversed back, blocking his path again.

This thief was no pushover. Despite breaking out in a cold sweat from the scare, he quickly regained his composure.

He planted his left hand on the roof of the private car, launching himself over it in a bound, and hurried toward the middle of the road.

Seated in the back seat, Shi Yuhuan coldly commanded, “Chase after him!”

Chen Tian nodded and was about to press hard on the accelerator when he heard Shi Yuhuan shout loudly, “Stop the car!”

He quickly switched his foot to the brake. Before the car had even come to a complete halt, Shi Yuhuan had bolted from the vehicle.

There, in the direction he was running, Song Qinghuan was crossing the road, heading towards the purse-snatcher.
