Chapter 195: 195, don’t hold illusions about me.

Chapter 195: 195, don’t hold illusions about me.

A glimmer of pain flashed across Song Qinghuan’s face, her watery eyes filled with unshed tears, she burst out loudly, “You! You scare me even more… Shi Yuhuan, I’ve had enough of you, I don’t want to see you ever again, let me go!”

Shi Yuhuan stared at her, laughing more than angry, “Song Qinghuan, have I ever told you that there was once a death in the pool of Shi Country Villa?”

Song Qinghuan shuddered, her body shaking violently.

Shi Yuhuan’s gaze still fell indifferently on her face. He narrated in a flat tone, “The current master of Shi Country Villa, an affable-looking, kind man who happens to be my grandfather, had a beautiful and kind wife who was my grandmother. He spoiled and loved her, or at least everyone including himself thought so. But one day, when faced with a choice between money, power, and her, he didn’t hesitate to choose the money and power, and pushed her into the pool where she drowned. That’s the exact spot where she was pushed.”

All of Song Qinghuan’s rage and resentment disintegrated in an instant.

She stared back in horror, her trembling body stiffened, too paralyzed to move.

Shi Yuhuan stared coldly at her disbelief, adding cruelly, “What? Don’t believe it? You think I’m playing with you? You thought my grandfather showed kindness to you because he thought I treated you differently, and he accepted you as his granddaughter-in-law because he thought I liked you? If you think that, then you are truly naïve. Didn’t anyone tell you I don’t celebrate my birthday? Song Qinghuan, my world is much more cruel than you imagine. Whatever my grandfather and I have done to you, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.”

As he spoke, his palm rested on her cheek, his thumb tracing her damp hairline, his voice low and distant, “Song Qinghuan, just two years. After two years you can get rid of the title as Mrs. Shi Yuhuan. Just live well these two years, and during this time, don’t harbor any illusions about me. Otherwise, if a bullet pierces your skull one day, it won’t be because you were killed innocently, but because you brought it upon yourself.”

This was the most he’d ever spoken to her since they’d met.

These complex yet simple sentences, spoken so lightly from his lips, stabbed her deeply, and the pain was unbearable.

Song Qinghuan bit her lip and stared at him, her shoulders shaking violently as she started crying silently.

So it was all a lie. She had been fooled by the seemingly kind and friendly old man. She had been deceived by his occasional tenderness toward her.

It turned out she had been fooling herself all along. What confidence? What courage? They were all just her own wishful thinking.

This man, she originally thought his coldness was just on the surface.

But it wasn’t. This man’s coldness was etched into his bones.

Everything he’d done to her, it wasn’t because he had any feelings or emotional ties towards her, but because he was accustomed to being the planner, accustomed to controlling everything and issuing commands.

Her heart was weary, her head dizzy, her eyes heavy. Her eyelids wanted to close.

She wanted to just close them and get a good sleep, pretending that all of this was just a terrible nightmare and she would never be entangled with the Shi family again after today. 𝙣𝒐𝙫𝙥𝙪𝙗.𝙘𝙤𝙢

His icy gaze was tinged with red, his lips as pale as paper. Shi Yuhuan held the unconscious Song Qinghuan tightly in his embrace, as his thick lashes slowly lowered over his eyes.
