Chapter 202: 202, Dates, interrupted again
Song Qinghuan took a few bites of steak and remembered the day she and Shi Yuhuan had dined here.
Despite the food being delicious, she lost her appetite.
Her gaze unconsciously flicked to Shi Yuhuan, who was currently in conversation with Li Chengyun, oblivious of her. Their hand-holding past seemed to matter nothing to him.
Suddenly, she couldn’t bear to stay here for a single minute longer.
Why did her heart still race when she saw him, even though he had already rejected her? She hated this feeling.
Taking a deep breath, Song Qinghuan said, “Zhan Cheng, I want to have hot pot, the very spicy kind. Can you take me for hot pot?”
During the lengthy time they had known each other, this was the first time Song Qinghuan had expressed a desire for a particular food and asked him to accompany her for a meal.
How could Zhan Cheng refuse, given how much effort it had taken to reach this point?
Overwhelmed with joy, he immediately asked for the bill, took Song Qinghuan’s hand, and left the restaurant to find a Haidilao Hot Pot restaurant.
Soon, a pot full of chili-filled broth was served, accompanied by a variety of dishes.
Song Qinghuan fixed her gaze on the pot. As soon as she saw the red soup begin to boil, she started picking up plates and dumped all the contents into the pot to cook.
She was so hungry, and she planned to eat to her heart’s content.
No hotpot meal is complete without beer. Zhan Cheng ordered two bottles, one for each of them.
Song Qinghuan didn’t refuse; she took the beer and took a small sip.
Zhan Cheng was delighted and kept making her laugh with his jokes and stories from past trips.
He thought the atmosphere was perfect and potentially pivotal for their relationship.
While they were discussing travel, he asked Song Qinghuan, “Huanhuan, New Year is approaching, and we’ll have a three-day holiday. Why don’t I take you on a trip? You can choose any destination, domestic or international.”
After asking, he was quite nervous.
He knew what it would signify. If Song Qinghuan agreed to travel with him, it meant she was willing to be with him. Even if they didn’t immediately become a couple, their relationship would certainly advance after the trip.
By this time, the food was likely ready, and Song Qinghuan started to eat.
It was spicy and hot, but delicious. She was so focused on eating that she forgot to answer Zhan Cheng’s question.
Thinking she was still considering his proposal, Zhan Cheng didn’t press for an answer.
Song Qinghuan couldn’t hold her liquor; one beer had her face flushed. The alcohol had yet to fully kick in, but when it did, she would likely be drunk.
As they were finishing their meal, Song Qinghuan’s phone suddenly rang.
She checked the caller ID and found that it was Aunt He.
During her time away from the villa, Aunt He often called to ask if she had eaten, if she had dressed warmly for the weather, and when she would come home.
In her heart, Song Qinghuan felt Aunt He was kinder than her own mother, Lu Meiyan.
Smiling, she answered the call, “Aunt He.”
The phone wasn’t the one Shi Yuhuan had given her. She had left that phone in the apartment. She had Mei Jun accompany her to buy a regular phone.
Aunt He sounded somewhat anxious, “Madam, Zishi is sick. I have something to do at home and can’t look after him right now. Could you come back and take care of him?”
Song Qinghuan put down her chopsticks, biting her lip, “What about him?”
