Chapter 431: Why are you treating me like this?
Song Qinghuan wasn’t sure if her current state was a form of evasion.
But she did know that if the real reason for her marriage with Shi Yuhuan was as she suspected, she wouldn’t be able to bear it.
If Shi Yuhuan had married her because of Si Chen, it would make her feel as if everything that had happened after their wedding was a cruel joke. The good, the bad, everything Shi Yuhuan had done for her would become unbearably sharp.
Shi Mu’s deep and gentle eyes lowered slightly, hiding the bright light within them.
Turning his back to Song Qinghuan, the corner of his mouth lifted in a strange smile. Some things, once hinted at, could have many interpretations.
At lunchtime, Song Qinghuan sat by Shi Yuhuan’s side, her attention focusing on him and Si Chen.
Throughout the meal, Shi Yuhuan did not once look at Si Chen, treating him as if he were a stranger.
Yet Si Chen stared intently at Shi Yuhuan with resentment in his eyes.
If nothing had ever happened between Shi Yuhuan and him, then why would he be looking at Shi Yuhuan like that?
Song Qinghuan ate in a daze, taking only a couple of mouthfuls before returning to her room.
She had gotten up early today, and she figured she could use a nap.
But lying in bed, her mind was in chaos, her heart was in knots and she simply couldn’t fall asleep.
She thought of many things, her heartache becoming greater each moment. She felt that Shi Yuhuan was not looking at Si Chen, not because he didn’t want to look, but because he was avoiding something.
She closed her eyes, forcing herself to sleep, only to open them again shortly after. And when she did, she noticed that Shi Yuhuan had returned at some point. He was sitting on their bed, watching her with profound eyes.
She cursed herself for being too careless to notice when someone sat on the bed.
Shi Yuhuan’s deep gaze fell on her face as he leaned over and pulled her into his arms.
Caught off-guard, Song Qinghuan had no time to protest before Shi Yuhuan had kissed her on the forehead. His lips felt icy cold, making him frown.
He grazed his hand over her chilly face. “What’s going on with you? Why are you so cold even under the covers?”
Song Qinghuan tried to push him away, her hand against his solid and muscular chest. “I’m tired. I want to sleep.”
Shi Yuhuan instantly gripped her cold hand and brought it to his lips, kissing it softly. “You must be sleep-deprived. Go to sleep. I’ll stay with you.”
Song Qinghuan stared at his expressionless face while such gentle words came from his mouth. She was at a loss, wondering if all this was just a facade.
If it wasn’t a facade, then in whose place was she when he was doing all this for her?
Si Chen?
At this moment, the thought of Shi Yuhuan and Si Chen having a past together seemed more real than ever in Song Qinghuan’s heart.
And it was deeply felt.
Noticing that Song Qinghuan kept staring at him in a queer manner, Shi Yuhuan narrowed his deep eyes: “Do you have something to say to me?”
Song Qinghuan pursed her lips, as if she wanted to say something.
But after a moment of consideration, she swallowed her words.
Shi Yuhuan asked again, this time with an authoritative tone, “Did Si Chen say something to you?”
When he asked this, Song Qinghuan didn’t understand her own feelings. She felt as though, by asking this, Shi Yuhuan was indirectly admitting that something had happened between him and Si Chen.
In any case, this thought, like a demon, was on the verge of swallowing her mind.
She shifted her gaze, staring fixedly at the ceiling, forcing herself to speak after a long while: “Shi Yuhuan, didn’t you say you would ignore me? Why are you treating me like this now?”
