Chapter 435: The more you love, the more you suppress.

Chapter 435: The more you love, the more you suppress.

Food poisoning? Or some other illness? Song Qinghuan was now unable to distinguish what was happening around her, with blurry figures swaying before her eyes.

As she spat out a mouthful of blood, she collapsed, her last conscious memory was of Shi Mu’s alarmed cries: “Qinghuan, Qinghuan, someone, get help, call a doctor….”

Shi Yuhuan, who was handling official duties in the study, was hurriedly approached by Shi Annuo, his face pale as a sheet, “Brother, something’s happened to Qinghuan!”

A strong sense of unease set over him. His cold gaze fixed on Annuo, he immediately questioned, “What happened?”

Shi Annuo hurriedly explained: “I don’t know what happened to Song Qinghuan, she fainted and…and she’s vomiting blood…”

Before Annuo had finished speaking, Shi Yuhuan had disappeared. He hastily followed his brother.

Shi Yuhuan rushed to the site of the incident. The blood on the ground hadn’t dried yet. Its distinct red against the white floor was particularly glaring.

The scene caused Shi Yuhuan’s heart to sink violently, as if depriving him of oxygen. His heart constricted in pain, a wordless agony slowly spreading through his whole body, yet he could only suppress it…

“Where is she?” Shi Yuhuan turned to look at Shi Annuo, his composure intact.

He didn’t know how he managed to maintain such a deadpan expression, appearing unfazed. All he knew was that the calmer he stayed, the more indifferent he appeared, the better chance he had of saving Song Qinghuan’s life.

“She’s in the main house, the doctor has been called and is attending to her,” Shi Annuo panted out, having run all the way here. He had wanted to say this earlier but Shi Yuhuan did not give him the chance.

Without a word, Shi Yuhuan immediately headed towards the main house.

As he entered, he heard Shi Xiuren sternly questioning Shi Mu: “Tell me exactly what happened! Why would she end up like this after drinking that bottle of water? What are you and Si Chen up to?”

Shi Mu’s gently polite face displayed a glum cast, his eyes a complicated mix of emotions.

Before he could speak, Si Chen interjected, “We honestly have no idea what happened. I didn’t intend for her to drink water at all, and I didn’t take her water either. Amu took my water later because he thought I was being unfair. We didn’t expect…this to happen.”

Si Chen’s face was pallid, his forehead slick with sweat and his lips drained of color.

It was evident that he had been terrified. n𝚘𝚟𝚙u𝚋.co𝚖

It wasn’t because he was particularly concerned for Song Qinghuan’s life. He disliked Song Qinghuan to the point of being indifferent to whether she lived or died.

But he didn’t want to be associated with her death in any way.

As a tall figure entered, Si Chen’s face paled further seeing Shi Yuhuan. He hastily explained, “It wasn’t me. Honestly, it has nothing to do with me. I wouldn’t do anything like this.”

Shi Yuhuan gave him a cold glance, remaining silent, and focused on the wide-open guest room on the side.

Song Qinghuan’s life was being fought for within.

As he stepped in, the doctor emerged.

“What’s happened to her?” He asked. His heart fluttered anomalously as he voiced his question but he managed to sound indifferent.

The doctor removed his mask: “She’s been poisoned.”

“Poisoned?” Shi Yuhuan squinted. This was as outrageous as a wild fantasy – this was not the ancient times nor was it some martial arts novel. How could someone be poisoned?

The doctor nodded, adding, “The water Young Madam drank was tampered with. Someone added a small amount of cyanide. It entered her bloodstream through her stomach and intestines, causing damage to her gastric mucosa. This led to her fainting and vomiting blood. But fortunately, we were notified in time and managed to attend to her promptly. For now, her life is not in danger but her body is extremely weak and needs plenty of rest.”
