Chapter 443: 443, more than friends, less than lovers.

Chapter 443: 443, more than friends, less than lovers.

Shi Yuhuan’s eyes narrowed dangerously and before he could speak, a figure forced his way in amidst the confusion.

Rapid footfalls echoed in the room.

As Shi Yuhuan turned around, his icy gaze swept towards the intrusion. Xia Yang immediately barked in a ruthless voice, “Why haven’t you restrained him yet!”

As soon as his command fell, two men dressed in black who had entered with Yan Pingdan, promptly grabbed Yan Pingdan’s wrists and twisted fiercely.

A muffled grunt and a crisp sound, like a bone cracking, echoed. Yan Pingdan was caught off guard as the men in black restrained him against the wall, wrists held in a vice-like grip!

“…” Yan Pingdan bit his lip, forcibly holding back the waves of agonizing pain!!

Song Qinghuan’s eyes widened in horror as she stood up stiffly, hand covering her mouth.

No matter how weak she was, she forced herself to stay still, eyes unblinking, terrified that everything she saw before her would disappear if she blinked or made a move.

One second, two seconds, three seconds passed. Everything was still very real. Only then did Song Qinghuan manage to call out in a tremulous voice that choked back tears, “Brother…”

The word was so light, so soft, just like a falling leaf gently blown by the wind.

Everyone’s attention was on Yan Pingdan, nobody heard her except for Shi Yuhuan.

“Let him go,” his voice was detached and indifferent, yet filled with an icy, dangerous aura. His words were an authoritative command, laden with murderous intent.

He could not bear to hurt Yan Pingdan, let alone hurt him in front of Song Qinghuan.

Upon his command, the men in black released Yan Pingdan instantaneously. Yan Pingdan, disheveled, braced himself against the pain and took a step forward.

As Yan Pingdan advanced step by step, Shi Mu came to fully see his figure. His heart raced wildly, his eyes widening in shock and sorrow as he mouthed out softly, “Adan…”

In that moment, Shi Mu was brought back to many years ago, during their youthful days, when Yan Pingdan would approach him in the same way.

The sunlight gently filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting a soft glow on Yan Pingdan’s tall and upright figure. His young and handsome face held a captivating charm, accentuated by his naive, innocent smile.

They were friends then, the very best of friends.

But as time went on, he found their relationship changing. Each time he was near Yan Pingdan, each contact of their bodies, made his heart race, like a jolt of electricity coursing through him.

Their place of acquaintance was New York, their usual travel spots were across America, a very open-minded place where homosexuality was tolerated.

Upon realizing his feelings, he had considered confessing them to Yan Pingdan. But before he could, Yan Pingdan told him he had a girlfriend and wanted to introduce her to him.

At that time, he was so jealous he almost went mad, but he held back, even congratulating Yan Pingdan with a smile.

Not long afterwards, he returned to China, all the while maintaining a close friendship with Yan Pingdan, as good as they ever were.

“Adan,” Shi Mu called Yan Pingdan’s name again, struggling against the chains, wanting to rush towards him, but was forcibly restrained by the chains.

As Song Qinghuan was hidden in the shadows, Yan Pingdan hadn’t noticed her at first. But as soon as he saw Shi Mu, he ignored his own pain and quickly moved to Shi Mu’s side: “Are you alright? Are you hurt?”

Then he turned to Shi Yuhuan, looking cold and aloof: “Why did you detain him? Didn’t I tell you, he has nothing to do with this matter.”
