Chapter 60: 60, This is a world that judges by appearance.

When Song Qinghuan woke up the next morning, she felt a slight headache. Opening her eyes, a sizable floor-to-ceiling window came into view. Through the narrow openings of the not fully closed curtains, broken sunlight snuck in.

It shone on the velvet quilt, making it seem even more soft and warm.

She cocooned herself inside it, not wishing to move a muscle.

Last night, she’d had a gathering with her colleagues and apparently consumed alcohol. Had she gotten drunk? It didn’t seem so. Anyway, she had gotten into a taxi, and then…

She couldn’t remember at all what happened next!

Song Qinghuan’s mind went blank, and she suddenly sat bolt upright on the bed, the quilt sliding off her.

Her first reaction was to check herself to see if anything was amiss. Everything was untouched, except for her shoes.

Fortunately, she was safe; she hadn’t been violated.

Her bag was also undamaged on the bedside table, and her money was safe, not stolen.

But she was in a villa? How did she get to the bedroom? How did she end up sleeping? Why couldn’t she recall a thing?

Supporting her head, Song Qinghuan sat in a daze for a good while; she couldn’t remember anything.

She got up and went to the bathroom, thinking a shower would clear her head.

But she still couldn’t remember anything.

Wearing a bathrobe, she went to the floor-to-ceiling window and pulled open the cream-coloured curtain. Sunlight immediately streamed in, warming her.

Pushing open the glass window, she stood by the railing and looked out. In the courtyard, trees lush with green leaves contrasted starkly with the winter, and the grass was verdant.

Among the greenery, she saw Zishi lying on the ground, his gaze fixed on his master.

Zishi’s master was sitting against the light, wearing only a thin beige cashmere sweater and matching casual pants. His gaze was undisturbed as he lowered his head to read a book.

Flecks of sunlight danced in his hair and on his face. He wasn’t as cold and ruthless or as snide and sarcastic as Song Qinghuan remembered.

The sun was at this moment shining from behind him onto his tall and straight figure, making him seem noble and impressive.

Yet, to Song Qinghuan, he seemed to exude warmth and gentleness, casual and easygoing, making her feel comfortable.

With a quiet sigh, Song Qinghuan thought, indeed, this world valued appearances. Without such a handsome face, how could one create the same deceptive effect?

Sensing her gaze, Shi Yuhuan lifted his eyes to look at her.

Just when Song Qinghuan was about to go back into her room, she unintentionally caught sight of Shi Yuhuan out on the lawn.

His eyes were really beautiful, but the look was too cold. If there was more color, they would have been even more attractive.

Gathering her thoughts, Song Qinghuan decided to continue feigning calm and head back inside, when she noticed Shi Yuhuan’s dark eyes seemed to be fixed on her chest, which was quite ambiguous…
