Chapter 631: 631, you’ve been hesitating, this is not like you.

Chapter 631: 631, you’ve been hesitating, this is not like you.

This was not the first time Song Qinghuan had been to a police station, nor was it her first time in an interrogation room.

Even though both times she had been brought in for inexplicable reasons, this time was clearly more depressing than the last.

The police officer taking her statement was a middle-aged man, his expression stern, not given to laughing or jesting. As he questioned her, she continually felt as if she were back in school, having a talk with the head of discipline.

Song Qinghuan relayed everything about her meeting with Han Qianqian today, the conversation they had in the cafe, and then how Qianqian drove her to the coastal highway.

The middle-aged officer was typing every word she said into a document on his computer as he listened.

After printing it out, he placed it in front of Song Qinghuan.

But before that, he had made a copy and sent it out via email.

In accordance with procedure, Song Qinghuan signed her name on her statement. After receiving the officer’s permission, she stepped out of the interrogation room.

However, just as she walked out of the door, her body suddenly weakened, and she almost collapsed. Fortunately, the officer trailing behind quickly supported her. “Are you OK?” he asked.

Song Qinghuan shook her head and smiled, “I’m fine, thank you!”

She sat down on the bench outside with the officer’s assistance. The stern middle-aged officer brought her a cup of hot water, “You’re pregnant; your blood sugar is a bit low, which is why you feel dizzy. Drink some sugar water to restore your glucose levels.”

“Thank you, thank you,” Song Qinghuan hurriedly thanked him, taking the cup and drinking almost half of it in one go. 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙥𝙪𝙗.𝒄𝙤𝙢

As she held the cup, she sat there quietly and suddenly thought, how did this middle-aged officer know she was pregnant? Her belly wasn’t that big, and she didn’t mention pregnancy during her statement.

Well, she couldn’t remember.

Li Chengyun was walking down the long corridor. He immediately spotted Song Qinghuan sitting upright on a chair, her slender figure appearing somewhat frail and wan.

Subconsciously slowing down his steps, Li Chengyun thought about the conversation he’d had with Shi Yuhuan before coming to the police station.

In the afternoon, Shi Yuhuan had asked him out but remained silent, his gaze deep, peering through the spotless floor-to-ceiling windows at the skyscrapers outside, which extended to a distant place, landing who knows where.

The room fell into an eerie silence, and the air gradually froze, icy and oppressive.

The waiter who brought in the coffee could palpably feel that the temperature inside this room was drastically different from the outside— one was like the Antarctic, the other like the Arctic.

Li Chengyun, dressed in a white casual suit, lazily leaned on the sofa, elegantly switching his crossed legs. “It’s not like you to hesitate without speaking when there’s something to discuss.”

“I want you to take Qinghuan and live in Q City for a few months,” Shi Yuhuan said indifferently, his eyes still looking out the window.

Li Chengyun narrowed his eyes, “You’re not afraid that I’ll steal your woman by giving her to me?”

Shi Yuhuan turned around, his gaze meeting Li Chengyun’s. “You are her brother, I know.”

Li Chengyun smirked, “It seems she told you. I thought she wouldn’t.”

Shi Yuhuan said, “She didn’t tell me, but I know. Originally, I planned to take her abroad to live for a while, but she did not agree.”

Mockingly, Li Chengyun hinted at something, “You can chalk it all up to the fact that you stood her up last time.”

Unaffected by his sarcasm, Shi Yuhuan continued, “On the day Han Wen died, in the hospital, he wrote four words in my palm, ‘Grandpa, be careful’!”
