Chapter 674: 674, Farewell, Twice Different
Chapter 674: 674, Farewell, Twice Different
A week later, she started to miss Shi Yuhuan again. However, this time she was different and refused to live like a zombie again. She would still curse Shi Yuhuan from time to time, but it was an affectionate kind of cursing.
As her baby grew bigger, she became more aware of the responsibilities of being a mother by her side.
She was truly grateful for the baby’s arrival at this critical time.
Without him, she was uncertain she could have endured the days without Shi Yuhuan.
One day, as Song Qinghuan was preparing to do prenatal exercises, she received a call from a strange number.
She put the phone to her ear and said softly, “Hello, who is this?”
“Qinghuan.” The voice on the other end was weak and deep, like it was being suppressed in a room.
“Li Wei, it’s you!” Song Qinghuan exclaimed joyously. Immediately she asked, “Where are you? I knew you weren’t dead. I asked Yihan where you were – he told me you left on your own. Why didn’t you contact me?”
Li Wei paused for a moment, then after a few seconds of silence, she said, “Qinghuan, I’m doing quite well. Thank you for your concern.”
Song Qinghuan grinned, “As long as you’re good. Everything in the past is over, it’s the future that matters.”
“Mmm!” Li Wei laughed softly and then confessed gently, “Qinghuan, I… I lied to you. I think you should know by now, your brother and I… I’m sorry, Qinghuan!”
Feeling embarrassed, Song Qinghuan reassured her, “Li Wei, don’t say that. Wasn’t I also approaching you with ill intentions initially?”
Li Wei chuckled, “Perhaps when you first approached me, you had ulterior motives. But in the end, I knew you truly cared for me.”
Song Qinghuan laughed, “Li Wei, you were also good to me.”
Li Wei nervously asked, “Do you… still consider me a friend?”
“Of course, you’re my friend – always have been.” Song Qinghuan declared confidently.
Li Wei laughed, sounding truly contented, “Thank you, Qinghuan. I wish you happiness.”
She was the first friend who’d genuinely cared for her in her life. She’d always remember that.
After hanging up, Li Wei looked ahead with a smile, feeling that life was beautiful.
She quickly walked to a middle-aged woman, holding her hand, “Mom, we need to board the plane. Let’s go!”
After receiving this inexplicable call from Li Wei, Song Qinghuan planned to call her back that night.
However, unexpectedly, the phone number Li Wei had called from was disconnected.
Once again, Song Qinghuan lost contact with Li Wei and had no clue where she was or how she was doing.
Until over a month later, in the middle of the night, Song Qinghuan was awoken by another call from a strange number.
The call was from Li Wei. Her voice, laden with exhaustion, carried Qinghuan’s name, “Qinghuan!”
“Li Wei, what happened to you?” Song Qinghuan startled, instantly became fully awake, and anxiously asked.
She sobbed gently as her voice quivered. “I can’t hold on any longer. My mother… I can’t hold on any longer, I truly can’t anymore, Qinghuan…”
“What’s wrong? What happened?” Song Qinghuan asked anxiously, “What happened to your mother?”
But Li Wei said nothing, only cried on the other end of the line.
She must have been very heartbroken, possibly yearning to weep out loud. Yet she suppressed it, biting her lip, trying hard not to make a sound.
