Chapter 730: 730, he, does not want to die.
Shi Yuhuan ordered, “Put on your life jacket.”
Xiaozhuang shook his head, still controlling the airplane.
The plane was getting lower, leaving no time for Shi Yuhuan and Xia Yang to call out to Xiaozhuang again. They could already see the airplane’s descent, about to crash into the towering rocks ahead.
“Jump now!!” Xiaozhuang shouted, trying his best to control the plane forward, hoping to make it past the mountain peak.
But it was no use, the plane had already lost its capacity for direction, only falling down, getting closer and closer to the mountain peak.
A look of desperation filled Xia Yang’s eyes, he had no time to worry about Xiaozhuang, and yelled at him, “You must make sure your wife and son are safe at home! And take care of them for a lifetime!”
Xiaozhuang smiled, his eyes closed, a contented smile spreading across his face.
The cabin door opened, it was pitch black outside. Xia Yang, dragging along Shi Yuhuan, jumped.
Not five seconds after they jumped, the plane crashed right into the mountain, giving off a loud ‘bang’ as it exploded.
The explosion echoed through the valley and jungle, lighting up half the sky with its flames.
Through the light of the flames, Shi Yuhuan and Xia Yang dangled from a parachute, unable to carry their weight, and hung on a towering tree.
But underneath the towering tree, ran a rapid river.
The parachute was snagged on the tree, a branch snapped under their weight and they both fell directly into the river.
The current was strong, the river wide and seemingly deep, and it looked like further downstream, there was a waterfall.
The moment they hit the water, the current dragged them downstream.
As they had anticipated, further down the river, there was indeed a large waterfall, and if they fell from it, they would either die, or end up severely injured.
When he jumped from the plane, Shi Yuhuan thought about his own inevitable end, death.
In the past, he had never feared death. Sometimes, he thought that a swift death would be the greatest mercy granted by God.
But now, he did not want to die. It wasn’t that he feared death, but that he was unwilling to die — by any means necessary, he wanted to survive.
Everything was because he had a wife to take care of, a child on the way — he couldn’t lose all this, neither could he cruelly abandon them.
In extreme predicaments, the potential one could tap into was unfathomable.
Even Shi Yuhuan hadn’t expected that with the currents going so fast, he could swim against it, grabbing hold of a branch to prevent himself from getting swept down the waterfall.
Shi Yuhuan grasped the branch hanging in the water tightly, gasping for breath desperately.
Before he could even recover, he saw Xia Yang being swept down from above. Acting on impulse, he reached out and grabbed Xia Yang’s hand.
The sudden jerk nearly sent them both down the waterfall due to the force of the water.
Then, thankfully, Shi Yuhuan steadied himself.
Xia Yang, whom he had grabbed hold of, didn’t even have the breath to gasp for air. Hastily, he climbed up the branch following Shi Yuhuan, helping pull him out of the water, and onto land.
The two of them lay on the ground, exhausted, not making any noise — a testament to the life-threatening danger they had just faced.
After a while, Xia Yang suddenly chuckled, turning to look at Shi Yuhuan: “Boss, thank you for saving my life once again.”
Shi Yuhuan, still staring at the blue sky said: “What are you thanking me for? You’ve saved me before too.”
Xia Yang replied lightly: “But that’s different. If it hadn’t been for you that time, I would have been riddled with bullets. I swore to be loyal to you for the rest of my life, so everything I did afterwards was my duty.”
