Chapter 737: 737, Trick, Escape
Shi Yuhuan’s eyes flashed like daggers, piercing into him, as he asked in a chilling voice, “Who are you, really?”
The old master laughed, “Shi Yuhuan, my clever grandson, the best of all my grandsons. You’re so clever; who do you think I’d be if not your grandfather?”
Shi Yuhuan kept his cool, “Should I take this as a desperate attempt on your part?”
With a sigh, the old master replied, “This is not desperation, but merely wanting you to understand. I am your grandfather, a fact that can’t be denied. Perhaps I’ve done things I shouldn’t have, but I am truly your grandfather. The things I’ve done, I had no choice. I’ve long known my misdeeds, and that’s why I brought you back to the Shi family, which is rightfully yours. Please let me go. I will leave here and spend my remaining time abroad.”
Knowing he had little room to maneuver, the old master now sought self-preservation, as Shi Yuhuan had suggested, revealing his desperation.
Shi Yuhuan’s lips curled into a cold, thin smile, “That’s highly unlikely! You… are not my grandfather.”
The old master retorted, “If I’m not your grandfather, then who am I?”
Shi Yuhuan icily replied, “While I may not know who you are, I am certain you’re not my grandfather. Does your desperate squirming amuse you? Tell me who you are, maybe I’ll spare your life.” 𝔫𝔬𝖛𝖕𝔲𝖇.𝖈𝖔𝖒
“Shi Yuhuan, I didn’t expect you to lose your composure. I know you’d rather I be dead.” The old master started laughing once more, his gaze on Shi Yuhuan taking on a peculiar aspect.
“If I say I won’t let you die, you won’t die!” Making you wish you were dead – that’s my ultimate plan, thought Shi Yuhuan.
The old master took a few steps back, his gaze vacant. He indicated a bookshelf in his study, “There’s something there that might enlighten you. After you’ve seen it, you’ll know who I am and why I’ve done what I did.”
With that, he started towards the bookshelf.
Xia Yang, however, intervened, “Stay where you are. I’ll get it.”
“Alright, you get it,” said the old master wearily. No longer wanting to conceal anything, he shuffled his way behind his desk and sank into the large mahogany chair sitting there.
Xia Yang retrieved the document from the bookshelf as directed, and then brought it over to Shi Yuhuan.
Just then, a change occurred in the study.
While all escape routes had been blockaded, no one expected the study to hold a secret chamber. Suddenly, the mahogany chair disappeared, with the old master in it.
“Damn!” Xia Yang, standing on the spot where the chair had been, jumped up and down a few times, finding the floor solid.
Shi Yuhuan turned to the butler, his eyes cold as a harbinger of death, “Where’s the switch?”
The butler was as shocked as anyone else, shaking his head hurriedly, “I don’t know, it’s my first time learning there’s a secret chamber in the study.”
Xia Yang looked at the butler in cold fury, “Speak! Or I’ll kill you!”
“I don’t know! I really don’t know,” blurted out the butler, scared half to death.
Before he could finish, Xia Yang’s fist connected with his face, knocking the butler flat. Blood poured from his chin, and he promptly passed out.
