Chapter 122: 122. Exposure

The tall man standing on the outskirts also took the opportunity to move closer toward the cattle cart along with the crowd. Within a few steps, he was beside the cow, hiding on one side of the cart, his peripheral vision subtly observing the little girl focused on watching her father.

From afar, he could tell the little girl was well taken care of and had good features. A closer look revealed she was even more exquisite than he had imagined.

Despite the dim lighting, her eyebrows and eyes were like a painting, her skin fair, undoubtedly a beauty in the making. One could imagine how outstanding she would be when she grew up.

It was clear she grew up pampered, completely unlike a child from an ordinary family.

The tall man restrained his excitement and continued to move forward slowly, subtly signaling to the thin monkey not far off, motioning for him to continue.

The thin monkey, receiving the signal, had no choice but to straighten his back defiantly at the owner of the cattle cart, gritting his teeth to continue.

"Also, how do you know your cow didn’t hit someone? It’s perfectly normal not to see clearly in such darkness. Do you have to be so aggressive and insist on calling it a scam? The person hasn’t said a word so far." n𝚘vp𝚞𝚋.com

Amused with anger, Hua Chengtian really started to suspect the two were accomplices. The world is vast, and it truly has all sorts of people with such unclear understandings.

"Those who suffer unjustly aren’t brushed aside like that," Hua Chengtian coldly stared at the thin monkey man, his hand flicking the whip, suggesting he might lash out any moment.

His tall and sturdy build left no doubt about his intimidating presence. Adding the whip in his hand, his cold and grim gaze, and the terrifying aura, scared the thin monkey man into taking a few steps back, looking frightened.

Seeing this, Hua Chengtian snorted, while the thin monkey sensed an opportunity and glanced toward the tall man, urging him to act.

The tall man was also attentive and acted as the little girl holding the whip moved further from the cart...

He moved swiftly, and from his position hiding on the side of the cart, he was at the cart shaft in an instant, attempting to cover the little girl’s nose and mouth with a previously prepared cloth.

Unfortunately, he underestimated the little girl’s reflexes and strength.

Just as he reached out, all of Hua Jin’s attention was on her father. As she watched him exert his force, she contemplated telling him not to waste energy on unnecessary people. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pang in her chest, suggesting danger imminent. Almost instinctively, her body tilted, and she saw a hand with a cloth reaching out for her. Hua Jin sensed trouble, rolled to the other side of the cart shaft, and shouted, "Father."

Simultaneously, she pressed her hands on the cart shaft, flipped agilely, and delivered a striking kick toward the tall man who attempted to jump onto the cart even after failing initially.

Faced with danger, Hua Jin didn’t hold back her strength in the kick.

This was no time to relax. Faced with this snarling man, Hua Jin was immensely relieved that she hadn’t fallen into complacency during her peaceful and happy days and had kept up her training. Such swift reactions wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.

...Clearly, these were child traffickers. It was unsurprising that the cloth was likely soaked with Knockout Drug.

Realizing this instantly, fury filled Hua Jin as she kicked even faster and more forcefully, hoping to kick this evildoer off the cart, smashing his skull.

The tall man was frustrated by the little girl’s quick dodging. But seeing her spinning kicks aimed at him brought a smile to his face as he rushed forward, welcoming the opportunity she presented.

Her swift actions seemed to hint at some skill, but the tall man still dismissed it.

A girl in her teens, even if trained, could hardly be at a significant level—the inherent strength of an adult cannot be matched.

With a confident smile, he reached out, only to hear a heavy groan followed by a cracking sound. The tall man, with disbelief on his face, was kicked straight off the cattle cart by a tremendous force, crashing heavily to the ground, sliding until he hit a tree, halting his motion.

This scene unfolded too quickly. Nobody grasped what had happened, only seeing someone sent flying off the cart.

Only Hua Chengtian, hearing his daughter’s scream, reacted swiftly. Almost simultaneously with Hua Jin’s roll, he rushed toward the cart, swinging his whip toward the man reaching for his daughter in a fit of fear and fury.

Though Hua Chengtian was swift, he was a bit slower than Hua Jin’s kick. As a figure flew out, his whip missed the evildoer’s face by just a hairbreadth.

He then saw his daughter leap off the cart like a firecracker, chasing the shadow. Terrified, Hua Chengtian hurriedly followed.

His daughter’s scream moments earlier had almost scared his soul out of his body, especially seeing a stranger jumping onto the cart—it tore at his heart, leaving his mind blank, instinctively rushing to protect his daughter.

Seeing the man kicked out by his daughter, he felt immensely grateful for her natural strength and quick reflexes. Otherwise... the consequences were unimaginable.

If anything had happened to his daughter, he feared he couldn’t go on living.

This time Hua Chengtian was slightly faster than his daughter, being an adult and already standing below the cart. He reached the man staggering up from beneath the tree first, delivering a heavy kick to his body, causing the man, who had grudgingly stood despite intense pain, to collapse again.

The man wanted to fight back, but the hands intended to block the girl’s legs were completely powerless, numb. The severe fall just now left all his internal organs and even his bones aching to the core, slowing his reactions and making it impossible to avoid the incoming kick.

He only felt another wave of intense pain as his ordinary face plunged straight into a stone on the ground, and a warm gush followed. The man spat out two bloody teeth.

Before the man could react, another kick landed, precisely hitting his numb hands. Accompanied by a painful scream, he received even stronger punches and kicks.

Hua Jin was Hua Chengtian’s soft spot. The man dared to target his daughter—Hua Chengtian was now full of malice, his gaze murderous, like a malevolent ghost crawling out of the King Yan’s palace.

This transformation happened too fast. One moment, the cattle cart owner was reasoning with others with a threatening demeanor, and the next moment, he turned into this fierce image, scaring everyone into holding their breath, collectively stepping back a few steps.

Both the thin monkey man and the man on the ground, clutching his leg and wailing, were astonished by this scene.

The wailing man stopped crying immediately, his face turning pale, before scuttling to his feet and sneaking into the crowd unnoticed.

He was only hired to be part of the scam for a bit of money and wasn’t willing to pay the price himself.

This was clearly running into a tough character; staying would only invite a beating!

The thin monkey hesitated, noticing the fierce owner of the cattle cart, who looked like he could tear a person apart in hatred, and pondered whether to help his leader getting beaten up without retaliation.
