The clock in the Silver Palace ticked and tocked as the three of them and a cat chatted for quite a while.
Lanci was still trying to communicate with Isatia.
"But Isatia, Duke Migaya is my senior. If you call me ’brother’, wouldn’t that be demoting him?"
There wasn’t anything important happening tonight, so Lanci and Talia were not in a hurry to leave.
"He is naturally of lower status than you, as long as you marry my sister."
Isatia pointed at her own sister and stated the facts as they were.
"Let’s set aside that assumption for now. What should our relationship be like currently?"
Lanci mulled over the logic of the Demon Race, which was problematic itself—who starts with the conclusion before the hypothesis?
"Uh, you’re still ’brother’."
Isatia responded.
"Why?"
Lanci’s eyes widened.
"Because my sister’s boyfriend should also be called ’brother’."
Isatia answered earnestly.
Lanci held his head in his hands.
"Give it up, Lanci. The Demon King once found plenty of demon tutors for Isatia, but she drove them all insane in the end."
Talia knew that her sister wasn’t dumb but too clever; nobody could easily change her way of thinking.
Perhaps Lanci, who had once been the Headmaster of Purgatory Corridor Academy, hoped to persuade Isatia, but it seemed difficult in such a short time.
"Isatia, what about your injuries, though?"
Talia stood behind Isatia, hands on her shoulders, asking her sister.
The thing she was most concerned about was always her sister’s health.
Just the thought of her sister enduring the unrelenting burn 24 hours a day, she wanted to live by her side and take care of Isatia every day.
But she was also tasked with helping Lanci and couldn’t leave her contract partner.
"Ancient texts record that only the pure and violent life force of the strongest wolf blood can unlock the poison of the Blood King’s Divine Fire."
Isatia turned her head to look into her sister’s caring eyes and grabbed Talia’s hands.
Otherwise, with her current condition, once outside the Spatial Barrier, the Blood Clan would quickly lock onto her in Brilda if she used even a hint of Magic Power.
"Don’t worry about me, sister. If I want to sleep, I can still fall asleep. It doesn’t affect my rest."
She spoke to Talia with a light smile.
Her sister had really changed a lot over the years.
Even if some essential things remained unchanged, it was clear her sister had become much softer and developed emotions much like a human.
"Is that so... you’re really incredible..."
Talia had almost forgotten her sister’s ability to fall asleep within a second.
Any other powerful one would be tormented by the Blood King’s Divine Fire till they couldn’t sleep at night, yet Isatia remained unaffected.
This was inseparable from her sister’s inherent strength.
"You’re amazing too, Tata."
Lanci watched them from across the table, reminding Talia not to belittle herself.
He actually envied the constitution of the sisters—one could sleep under any circumstances, and the other could eat indefinitely.
Compared to the poison fire of the Blood Clan, the gene of the Demon Royal Family was indeed more powerful.
"Then why don’t you mention Huebelle? She’s a Demon Princess too."
Talia spoke a bit resentfully, thinking that Lanci was being inconsistent.
"Huebelle seems too much like a normal girl compared to you both."
Lanci had always held the utmost respect for Huebelle.
"That’s because you don’t know...!"
Talia caught herself before finishing.
Huebelle, it could be said, had inherited the opposite from Isatia. The only similarity she had with Isatia was that once she fell deep asleep, nothing could wake her.
Only Talia knew that Huebelle indeed had Isatia’s deep sleep trait; however, her sleep quality was nowhere near as good as Isatia’s. Not only that, but Huebelle tended to talk in her sleep and had terrible sleeping postures, sometimes even gnawing on her in the middle of the night, startling Talia awake on several occasions.
"..."
Now it was Lanci’s turn to be at a loss for words.
He accidentally overheard it all in his heart.
"Ah, forget it!"
Talia immediately let go of Isatia’s hand, went back to Lanci with a blushing face, and hooked his neck, intending to help him with some "physical forgetting"—supposedly suffocating someone could make them lose a small part of their memory!
"I didn’t hear anything! I really don’t know this secret!"
Lanci struggled desperately, declaring his ignorance, but he could not escape.
"What are they talking about?"
Isatia listened to Lanci and Talia’s conversation and always felt it was disjointed.
She felt like she was missing something and completely didn’t understand her sister’s fluctuating emotions.
"They have a private chat channel, you can’t hear it, meow."
Cat Boss shook its head.
It had protested several times about Lanci and Tata’s exclusive channel, but to no avail.
"What does that mean?"
Isatia, not quite understanding, poked the dark bread.
"Can’t you feel that their souls are connected? Your sister has become like Lanci’s Summon, in fact, they’re in a state similar to having signed a soul bond contract right now, they can communicate with thoughts at any time, and they cannot hide their feelings from each other."
Cat Boss explained.
"Oh my god, does that mean they live together every day now?"
Isatia, holding Little Black Cat’s paws, shook them and asked.
"Yes, meow, we live in a two-story villa in the Saint Kray Temple, but so far the most they have done is to hold hands, no further progress, meow."
Cat Boss reported to Isatia.
"..."
The two people across the table stopped at the same time and looked toward Cat Boss.
