North side of the Protoss Royal Magic Academy.
In the mansion of the tenth-ranked third-year student, Sigloria, the scene playing on the Magic Fluorescent Screen swiftly spiraled from chaos, to madness, then to horror and finally to silence.
The entire classroom had been incomprehensibly turned into a bloody Purgatory Execution Ground.
Apart from the students on the ground, trapped in barriers, barely alive, and awaiting transportation to the hospital, the Fragmented Corpse Reaper, warmed to its frenzy by the demons, had already gone after its victims.
It wouldn’t stop until it had educated all these imperial scum.
As for the magical beasts in the classroom, they were exulting in their victory, seemingly rediscovering their bloodthirsty nature and hunting instincts that their ancestors once had in the Demon World, grinding their teeth as they tasted blood.
The only quiet place left was the innermost part of the room, where the untouched Lanci, with a calm smile on his face, and a terrified Zestira, leaning against a large black fox, were located.
Sigloria’s direct subordinate’s lips were quivering slightly.
She had no idea what this man had done; all she felt was a chilling terror deep in her heart.
This Saint Heir seemed to possess some kind of sinister charm that could manipulate people’s hearts.
From her perspective, the students seemed to have gone mad, recklessly storming the classroom and followed by the teacher who also seemed to have suddenly lost his sanity.
It appeared that wherever he was, people would act out of normality.
"I see…"
Sigrid muttered as if deep in thought.
"Did you notice anything?"
Sigloria bravely asked, gradually pulling herself out of her shock.
She knew that the Bishop of Hegemony sometimes liked to do unexpected things.
"He must have done something at the entrance, like changing this classroom into Hunting Science Level 1 or Cooking Science would do,"
Sigrid was certain, and her gaze on Lanci grew even more appreciative.
Now she was starting to look forward to going to the Nirvana Branch up north along with Sikder, who was about to become a Fourth-Order, and her partner.
If they had enough rapport, maybe the result would be more than the sum of its parts.
"…"
Upon hearing this, Sigloria looked back at the screen, somewhat dazed.
In such a short time, how could it be possible to fake signs when magic wasn’t allowed before the exam…?
Not to mention whether Mr. Bishop suspected that the Saint Heir had some special skills, hence his deductions.
The key is, even if the truth was indeed as you pointed out, how could your minds connect so quickly?!
...
In the south part of the Protoss Royal Magic Academy’s examination area, the Magical Beast Breeding Classroom on the first floor of the dark building.
After the battle, the magical beasts were incredibly resilient and had grown up together, so their bond was very close. The magical beasts who knew healing magic quickly began healing their companions.
They were trained not to scatter and were aware of the dangers of the examination area.
But from what it seems, they’ve tasted blood and the next time they face arrogant and bossy students, they might teach them why they are called magical beasts.
"Excellent, full of vitality."
Lanci moved his gaze away from the magical beasts.
This is how magical beast breeding should be. There’s the same course in the Purgatory Corridor Academy.
This is the true legacy of the Demon World.
"Teacher… what should we do next?"
Zestira quickly regained her composure.
Though they had a good start, based on time, the first class just started a few minutes ago, the tests had just begun.
She looked at the students on the ground who had been sealed in barriers, waiting to be transported out, and the old man just chopped dozens of students in and outside the classroom, she temporarily didn’t dare to think how much their bounty had risen.
They would know only after checking the notice boards that were all over the corridors.
Moreover, with such an explosive start from the teacher, if he sent the students who were favored by the school’s top officials to the hospital as well, their faces might be hard to look at. They would surely increase the difficulty even more for the two of them, regardless of the cost.
"Rest assured, I will not tolerate any student who encourages a negative atmosphere,"
Lanci confirmed, lifting his finger assertively as he spoke.
It’s a pity the Great Love Poet isn’t around, otherwise the school may have already been conquered by this recent wave of changes.
"..."
Zestira felt that this "Rocky McCarthy" was really going to make a name for himself in the capital this time.
On every monthly assessment day of the Protoss Royal Magic Academy, a special report was issued and sent to alumni as a part of the school magazine, and many of the alumni were influential figures in the Empire today.
She had no idea how to write this special report!
Just the absurd and bloody spectacle of a teacher slaughtering students could be enough for it to be banned!
While Zestira had mixed feelings, Lanci had already approached the large black fox.
"Little fox, do you want to come with me? We can go to more open areas,"
He said softly, touching the fox’s back.
Once the school gave its approval, he was capable of handling all the formalities needed to adopt a large pet in the capital city of Herram.
Actually, according to the rules of the Protoss Royal Magic Academy, Lanci could easily purchase the fox outright, provided he had enough credits.
"Aow aow."
The big black fox rubbed its head against Lanci.
It felt a little reluctant to leave this place.
But it yearned more for the Demon World and a noble member of the Great Demon Clan.
"Let me make it clear - I’m a human. Don’t mistake me for a Great Demon. I don’t want to deceive your affection,"
Lanci said, appearing to understand its thoughts, albeit a bit helplessly.
"Aow aow."
The fox still seemed affectionate.
"Good,"
Lanci ran his hand gently over its soft black fur, content.
If he decided to take it back to Ichrite Academy, keeping such a large pet at the dormitory would require some pesky paperwork.
Fortunately, his dormitory was spacious. He had chosen a less popular dormitory with double the space, and now the benefits of that decision were clear.
Feeling Lanci’s thoughts, the large fox suddenly shrunk considerably, becoming a fox only slightly bigger than the Cat boss. It jumped into Lanci’s arms, then turned into a black scarf wrapped around Lanci’s shoulders.
Lanci looked at the fox in surprise.
Though it was capable of some transformation and camouflage magic, maintaining its levitation using telekinesis magic for a long time without exerting weight on Lanci might be difficult for the fox. As far as possible, it should be allowed to stay in its relaxed and natural state.
"Impressive indeed. No wonder you are the magical beast most favoured by the ancient Great Demon Clan,"
"Aow aow."
"Are you asking if I have seen your ancestors? This is the first time I’ve seen a real Moonshadow Fox. Even the ancient demons alive today may not have seen one themselves."
"Aow."
"Don’t worry, the food here is excellent, and we have a master chef. But be careful, there’s a foodie who might pinch food off your plate."
"..."
Zestira was speechless.
It understands you, I get it.
But why do you understand it?
From just the sounds, Zestira couldn’t discern the meanings of the fox’s calls.
But Lanci seemed to communicate with it effortlessly, comprehending its thoughts.
However, Zestira could sense that the Moonshadow Fox’s thoughts were very simple and it would likely remember all the conversations between Lanci and itself.
When her mind-reading talent fully matures, she would undoubtedly be able to hear the voice of the fox’s heart and understand their historical dialogues.
