At the top of the VIP stands in the Chinston City arena, Viscount Black Bonn struggled to accept the outcome determined within seconds. He also couldn’t fully accept that Shaar had ended the competition even more swiftly with his fists and feet than with his dagger.
Veins throbbed on his forehead as he forcefully suppressed the urge to order his men to kill Shaar and those two damn students from the Protoss Royal Magic Academy. He clutched his cane tightly resting on the ground.
First, he stared intently at Shaar, and then his gaze shifted to Lanci and Sikder in the distance.
"Professor Mei Qi... I won’t have issues getting rid of those two students, will I..."
Viscount Black Bonn didn’t even move his lips as he trembled out these chilling words.
It was all the fault of those two troublemakers...!!
"No problem."
Mei Qi nodded,
"After all, you will be the governor, and I can handle the issues in the capital for you."
Mei Qi understood very well that at this point he should appease Viscount Black Bonn’s feelings.
Viscount Black Bonn nodded, rose to his feet, and walked over to the stands where the dignitaries of the Xue Yuan Province sat. He invited them to accompany him towards the area where Viscount Levin Chinston was located.
The metallic body of the Knight Arena shone bright, reflecting off the iron handrails of the VIP stands. The powerful aristocrats slowly began to convene from their seats, their elegant attire, and ornately fragranced corridors shimmered in the winter sun, creating an even more serious atmosphere post-competition.
As they approached, the spectators who had not yet left felt the mood shift and retreating; soon, the former bustling side of Viscount Levin Chinston’s stand was considerably emptier.
Some citizens dared not look directly, only staring at the open field, pretending to watch the closing ceremony. Others held their children’s hand tightly, reminding them not to make noise. The sudden silence and suppression enveloped across the stands.
"Levin, congratulations on finding a good son-in-law, however... isn’t his hand a bit too heavy?" 𝚗ovp𝚞b.𝚌om
Viscount Black Bonn, leaning on his cane, stood not far away on the walkway from where Viscount Levin Chinston sat.
"I will compensate for the medical expenses."
The only thing that Viscount Levin Chinston cared about was Shaar being taken care of by the medical personnel he arranged. His eyes full of warmth.
"Medical expenses? Can you afford them?!"
Seeing Levin’s casual demeanor, Viscount Black Bonn could no longer hide his hatred,
"What’s your position on the matter of the Governorship of Xue Yuan Province? If you’re planning to perfunctorily dismiss it today, don’t blame us for becoming enemies in the future!"
A crazed snicker curled up on Viscount Black Bonn’s mouth. The clear voice was like a cold dagger, stabbing the eardrums of everyone present.
Many of the Chinston citizens who didn’t leave revealed looks of shock and fear.
The lords standing behind, or directly staring at Viscount Levin Chinston, or apologetically looked away, but all stood firmly on Viscount Black Bonn and Professor Mei Qi’s side.
Even the common people got the intent of Viscount Bonn.
He started to threaten Viscount Chinston.
The other lords had already agreed to the appointment of Viscount Black Bonn as the governor.
If Viscount Levin Chinston still opposed, then Chinston City, which made an enemy out of Viscount Bonn, would be left out in the Xue Yuan Province and besieged by the Phantom Gang.
Who knew if Viscount Black would even push the Phantom Gang from behind.
It seemed very likely that, what awaits Chinston City, was destruction and doom!
Viscount Black Bonn’s ominous gaze passed over Lanci and Sikder, then glanced at Professor Mei Qi beside him. A cold smile hung from his lips, as if informing them, regardless of the result, they can’t leave Xue Yuan Province.
All of a sudden, the temperature above the whole arena plunged. Those discussions and noises have become the past. Tension and fear filled the faces of the citizens of Chinston City. An indescribable tension permeated the air, everyone’s heartbeat seemed to be struggling with the surrounding silence, time seemed to slow down, the second hand moved incredibly slowly.
The core of the whole arena, the Lord of Chinston City dressed in dark blue embroidered robe, seemed extremely isolated and vulnerable at the moment.
Everyone was waiting anxiously, looking forward to him providing a reassuring answer that could put everyone at ease. But the oppressive feeling in the atmosphere kept intensifying, making the whole scene susceptible to a complete outbreak due to any ignition.
Yet,
Only Lanci, sitting next to him, lightly rested his hand on Viscount Levin Chinston’s shoulder.
He met Levin Chinston’s gaze as if telling him he could hand over the following matter to him.
"Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to be brief,"
Lanci raised his hand. Although his movements were slow, his deep and firm voice provided a sense of stability in a storm that intrigued the many aristocrats, they couldn’t help but look at him in a confused manner.
He then pulled out several sketches from his pocket.
"These are portraits of each department head, if you, Professor Mei Qi, truly are a senior leader, you should at least recognize some of them, right?"
The nobles originally weren’t planning to pay much attention.
But at one glance, they were captivated and amazed by the drawings in his hands.
