The Great Love Poet followed Hyperion onto the stairs, looking back to make sure his teammates are all prepared.
After receiving a nonverbal response, the Great Love Poet moved forward again.
"This time, I’ll hold you tight."
Hyperion softly assured the poet standing beside him.
Then, they stepped into the mysterious deep-purple mirror portal. The air around the portal rippled slightly due to the power of the void, as if magic danced gently over the calm surface of a lake.
As they stepped through the gate, their figures gradually disappeared until they were finally completely engulfed by the deep purple light of the void.
In an instant, they felt as though they were falling rapidly from the sea of stars, experiencing once again the strange sensation of weightlessness. The occasional lights and colors intertwined, forming a series of distorted scenes.
Until their falling speed began to slow down, a dazzling light erupted from the exit, enveloping them instantly.
"..."
The moment they entered this negative sixth layer, Hyperion’s pupils couldn’t help but shiver slightly.
She found herself standing in the center of a spacious hall that resembled a theater. A complex mural was painted on the high vault, depicting the totems of ancient Demon World myths.
This was a chamber bigger than any previous teleportation hall they had been in. On the tall stage, there was still a deep purple mirror-like void teleport gate.
Their group was not scattered, nor did they encounter any danger. The only difference was the extreme cold air they could feel at the negative sixth layer. It was as if they were in a vast snowfield where not only their joints, but even their thoughts would become slow.
As the deepest layer, the negative sixth has no separate entrance and exit teleport halls—the only void teleport gate was right here.
Soon, their student bracelets lit up with a deep-red curtain of light as usual—
[In Herram Prison’s negative sixth layer, survival and duty will earn you plenty of service points.]
[Upon fulfilling the conditions to return to the base layer, trading permissions for the current layer can be unlocked. Inspector interns may convert any remaining service points into wages or into Protoss Royal Magic Academy credit points.]
[Current location: Herram Prison Negative Sixth Layer, Jailor Office & Teleport Hall.]
[Work content: Patrol and maintenance.]
[Note: Upon entering the non-safe area of the negative sixth layer, you will be trapped in an Illusionary Barrier. With the time elapsed, the danger level of the illusionary barrier will gradually increase, reaching a ninth-order at its peak.]
[Note: When you are conscious and the more fearful you are, the higher the percentage of false damage in the illusion that is converted into actual damage.]
[Note: On this layer, jailors can consume special Xue Yuan Liquor to eliminate the cold and increase courage, but be aware of alcohol intoxication. Please drink moderately.]
[Condition to return to the base layer: Inspect all cell durability and resistance, obtain permission from the negative sixth layer’s warden and final evaluation.]
Hyperion stared down at the information of the negative sixth layer.
Finally, she had reached the last layer of Herram Prison before leaving. At present, there seems to be one more trial of the Great Demon Clan remaining.
The difficult mission she had been given today had been too smooth. She felt as though she had done practically nothing, and a significant accomplishment was only a step away.
As the Bingxue Witch said when she was in the Aestheland Kingdom, the Great Demon Clan’s trial, known as [The Inverted Path of Rebirth], caused those who feared death to be more likely to die.
It was an illusion technique that could also produce substantial magical damage.
Once one fell into the [The Inverted Path of Rebirth] illusionary barrier and began to feel a tinge of fear, the inner defenses would collapse like a dam breaking, completely destroying them with a quick and rapid descent. Essentially, it could be more dangerous than a physical trial.
This Great Demon Clan trial was almost Truth Pullane’s predestined calamity. Truth Pullane, who only wanted to survive, was almost going to suffer a hundred percent damage in [The Inverted Path of Rebirth]. Escaping from the prison cell was tantamount to suicide.
For the intern jailor assessment, they could choose to infuse an appropriate amount of exclusive Xue Yuan Liquor based on their own conditions, allocate the routes, fix some prison cells along the way before the illusionary danger level reached a certain high level, and then rush back to the safety zone for recovery. Meanwhile, one person should always be ready to rescue teammates at the fastest speed. It was a great test of judgment and execution.
But now, Hyperion felt that the strategies given by the Bingxue Witch were all useless.
No matter how hard the Bingxue Witch had told her it would be months ago, Hyperion was confident that the actual experience would be child’s play.
"..."
Hyperion sneaked a glance at the Great Love Poet, who was stunned next to her.
Aside from the little service points Lanci got from speedrunning levels -4 and -5, Lanci now had a generous amount of service points. When asked, Lanci replied that Miss Selena, the jailor from level -4, had sponsored him.
However, at that time, Hyperion was in the dream of the Fallen Wonderland and had no idea what happened on the fourth floor.
Hyperion worried that Lanci had forced or robbed the service points, but Lanci said that Jailor Selena had voluntarily given them to him. He had not even mentioned it to Jailor Selena when she had transferred the points to Lanci.
Hyperion could only temporarily put down her worries.
Just as they were preparing to walk down the steps, they heard the jailor’s voice echo in the hall.
"It’s so nice to have intern jailors able to make it here," came the voice.
Hyperion looked in the direction of the voice and saw that the teleportation hall of this level was combined with the jailor’s office, forming a safety zone.
A jailor with the name "Daria" engraved on her tag was lounging with her legs on the office desk. She had defined facial features and penetrating eyes that seemed to see into one’s heart. Her lips were thinly stretched into a smirk.
Though she wore a jailor’s uniform, she casually loosened the tie around her tight top and draped her jacket over her shoulders.
"In this place, there is no path to reincarnation, no road to death, so it’s better to live in a drunken dream."
Jailor Daria leaned back casually in her chair, looking at the group with a tilted head and mumbling to herself.
She held a small wine glass in her hand, which seemed just emptied.
Presumably she was very happy to see intern jailors. Without interns to help, she would have to do the routine inspection and maintenance work by herself.
Hyperion currently felt that except for Warden Corentin from the first floor who was a bit difficult to communicate with, the wardens from the fourth and fifth floors seemed to be nice people. The warden from the sixth floor did not seem bad either.
"We will start working right away, please don’t worry."
Hyperion gave a salute to Daria, the jailor from the sixth floor, and said.
The task on this floor was very clear. There were two members of the Great Demon Clan and Magic Artisan Lanci which made the repair easy.
"Wait, who told you to hurry and work?"
Daria hastily put a leg down from the table, stopped them with a shout, and waved them over.
