The Magic-Energy Airship named Floating Castle Number was gliding over the skies of Floral City Pariel.
Gazing down at Floral City Pariel from behind the glass windows several meters high, one could feel a unique sense of detachment and tranquility.
Miss Lixancy and Lanci talked a lot about the content of the Platinum Level Cardmaker examination.
"I really envy those young Cardmakers who can be so formidable at such a young age, always feels like they have a sense of youth."
She propped up her chin and murmured as she looked out the window.
The river, like a silver ribbon inlaid within the city, bathed the ancient buildings along the Selina River in splendid lights. Bridges spanned the river, and with the decoration of lights, they seemed like portals to different worlds amidst the night.
During the short yet prolonged moments, waiting for the airship to reach its destination at the North Shore of Pariel, one could distinctly feel the slight vibrations of the magic pipeline beneath the floor and the distant sounds of mechanical gears turning.
"Yes, that’s exactly what’s called a youth storm."
Lanci nodded in agreement.
Youth is the color of a bruise, filled with challenges, fearlessness, and passion.
That sense of youth is something that Old Men can’t quite pull off.
Suddenly.
A Little Black Cat jumped from Lanci’s lap onto the table and walked across.
"Meow."
Cat Boss gave Lanci a look full of speechlessness.
It probably could tell that the term "youth storm" might have a positive connotation, referring to a group of young geniuses fearlessly fighting for their dreams.
But coming from this guy, it seemed to take on a different nature, more like a mishmash of lousy fighters in a big brawl.
"Uh, did you actually buy a ticket for your pet cat?"
Miss Lixancy’s attention was immediately captured by the beautiful Little Black Cat, and she straightened up a bit.
She felt she might be able to understand this young man a little.
Perhaps he had another pet.
"Meow meow, I am not a pet!"
Cat Boss cried out, insisting on its dignity.
"Eh, the cat can talk."
Miss Lixancy covered her mouth in surprise.
But she soon understood.
This Little Black Cat might actually be a Grand Magician or a large Magical Beast, and a strong one at that.
Possibly of the Fourth or Fifth Orders?
You must know that mercenaries of the Fourth and Fifth Orders are not commonly seen on the frontiers or in small countries.
"Meow meow..."
Cat Boss felt that while the content of the lady’s thoughts was polite,
it was actually somewhat insulting to it.
But if it were to reveal its own strength, that would be even more embarrassing.
"..."
Lanci helplessly stroked Cat Boss’s head.
That indulgent look in his eyes seemed to say, "You are different from the others; you are an Eighth-order National Guardian Beast, don’t mind the stares of others."
"Lanci meow..."
Cat Boss looked at him, moved.
When everyone else would not acknowledge its strength, only Lanci truly treated it like an Eighth-order powerhouse.
But it didn’t want to be Cat Lun anymore.
If the Great Priest once again left behind an earth-shattering legend in the Poseen Kingdom, the entire east of the South Continent might just nominate Loren to be the Chairman of the East.
"What does this Little Black Cat’s true form look like?"
Miss Lixancy looked at Cat Boss, asking Lanci.
"No, it’s just a loaf of bread, and it can’t transform."
Lanci shook his head.
"You’re the bread cat! I’m an Elf Cat!"
Cat Boss immediately looked unhappy.
"Eh? Can I touch it?"
Lixancy first looked surprised, then quickly asked with nervousness.
"You can if it doesn’t resist."
Lanci amiably withdrew his hand.
Cat Boss was good at discerning danger and safety, and most of the time, the clerks it hired were allowed to touch it.
Lixancy tentatively reached out to touch Little Black Cat, and only when sure that it wouldn’t resist, did she slowly start to gently stroke its back.
"Lixancy, I hear you’re good at making pastries, meow."
Cat Boss asked.
"Not really."
Lixancy shook her head, engaging in conversation with the kitty.
"Aren’t you good at making Magic Pastries? I certainly can’t make them, meow."
Cat Boss knew its disciple, Asina, could make a small amount of magical cuisine, since she was a top graduate from Sage Academy, but as a master, it felt awkward to ask its own disciple to teach it, and last time in the Demon World with Lanci, it failed utterly to learn the techniques of the Ancient Demon World’s Magic Chefs.
"Ah, my regular pastries are okay, but Magic Pastries might taste awful, and the stranger the taste, the stronger the attribute. Last time I made a super sour strawberry daifuku that knocked my classmate out cold..."
Lixancy said somewhat shyly.
With the discovery that there was a cat to pet, Lixancy gradually felt the half-hour wait for their destination on the journey became much more interesting.
Time seemed to fly by much faster.
Lanci once more casually gazed out the several meters high floor-to-ceiling window beside the seating area.
The Floating Castle Airship Number had large windows on both sides and its top, allowing passengers to enjoy the view outside. Sitting in the passenger airship, a look out the window also afforded a glimpse of the night scene outside the courtyard.
Looking out at the sky seemed like one could see an incredibly huge silver-white moon.
Legend had it that during the full moon, the Healer and Silver Moon Goddess would bestow blessings upon living beings, soothing past misfortune and pain.
However, the clouds floating across the night sky tonight seemed to slice across the full moon from time to time.
"Miss Lixancy, have you heard about the recent incidents of the Demon Race harming people in Poseen Kingdom?"
Lanci asked, as if something had come to mind.
The matter was still quite secretive when mentioned by Professor Bolao over a week ago before his arrival at Poseen Kingdom.
Now, even inside the airship, he had heard other passengers talking about this topic.
It seemed the incidents were indeed becoming more frequent and were gradually reaching a level that even The Senate of Poseen Kingdom could hardly control.
Lixancy, who was playing with the cat, looked a bit flustered.
"I, I’m not very clear on what’s happening." 𝚗ovp𝚞b.𝚌om
She placed her hands over her chest and looked away as she answered.
"Right, no need to worry. The capital’s urban district of Poseen has high surveillance and is generally very safe, and it seems like the incidents usually happen outside Floral City Pariel, or in the regions of the Demon World of Poseen."
Lanci said reassuringly.
"Yes, in Poseen Kingdom, a member of the Demon Race harming a human would be executed; there shouldn’t be any demons that would knowingly commit such acts in this era."
Lixancy gradually returned her gaze to Lanci as she added.
All registered members of the Demon Race had a basic civic contract with The Senate of Poseen Kingdom, which allowed them to suppress those who violated regulations.
She knew that Lanci was referring to the rumors of the return of the Curse of the great wizard Parlony.
Indeed, these rumors had been growing more and more abundant recently. Despite Parriet City Hall’s repeated denials, the Poseen authorities apparently were having a bit of trouble suppressing the fear-inducing rumors.
Not only were people afraid, but the Demon Race was as well.
Everyone knew that in the ancient legends of Poseen, once a demon was afflicted by the forbidden Curse of the great wizard Parlony, they were beyond salvation.
Not only was there no way to lift it,
the dreadful executioners under the command of a few influential members of The Senate would come swiftly to kill the out-of-control demon.
The mere thought of it made the Curse Mark on Lixancy’s chest glow even redder, continuously making her breathing more and more difficult.
