"Are you also of the Orange rank?"
Lanci stared at her, dumbfounded.
"Did you not consider that as a demon princess back then, I wouldn’t have access to the best materials for inscription?"
Talia retorted as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"..."
Lanci always seemed to forget that Talia was actually a princess from over a hundred years ago.
"So just keep at it, find a suitable material for engraving. If it’s pink, that would be quite nice. If you beg your sister here, maybe I’d help you look for materials. After all, you can only rely on me for such matters, no one else will bring perfect materials right to your doorstep."
Talia patted Lanci’s shoulder, her words tinged with sympathy.
After touring the main hall of the Saint Parriet Church, the two didn’t visit the other winged halls one by one but left from the east side and began looking for the nearby Church of the Goddess of Destiny as indicated on the map.
According to Parriet’s urban planning, the branches of churches worshipping various deities were all in this vicinity, facilitating congregation and interaction between the faithful and the priests.
After a few minutes’ walk, they found the branch of the Church of the Goddess of Destiny in Huadu.
Saint Parriet Church.
Its temple style was very similar to that of the Saint Parriet Church. 𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒑𝒖𝒃.𝙘𝙤𝒎
Upon entering the church, right in the center of the hall stood a statue of the Goddess of Destiny and Reincarnation, made of black bronze, with dozens of angels in various forms embedded on the surrounding walls, and the altars, lecterns, and offering tables around were carved with plant and floral patterns, recreating the scenery from the Divine Era.
Underfoot, marble mosaic flooring tiles were artistically scattered, leading to the altar at the exact center of the dome.
As Lanci and Talia went deeper into the church, a souvenir counter gradually came into sight.
The cabinet under the glass displayed souvenirs from postcards to handmade Genesis Record illustrations, as well as boxes of pastries.
Talia’s eyes immediately found her target.
"Hello, we’d like to buy some souvenirs, and can I ask if you have Rebirth Jewel amulets for sale?"
Lanci approached the counter and spoke to a Goddess Officer who was busy arranging the back storage.
"Of course."
The Goddess Officer, clad in a white robe embroidered with golden patterns and wearing a small, neat crown, turned around and looked at them,
"For souvenirs, take whatever you like and I’ll package them for you. As for the Rebirth Jewels, do you want one or a pair?"
She asked with a smile.
"Just one."
Both answered at the same time.
They intended to buy their own separately.
"That will be a pair then."
The Goddess Officer selected two gems wrapped in mini cloth bags from a drawer behind the counter, one radiating a golden luster, glinting with a bright yet distant light; the other was a soothing green, lively and full of vitality.
She carefully showed the two gems to Lanci and Talia, feeling they perfectly suited the pair.
"..."
Lanci and Talia both checked the price tags.
These unattributed gems, not particularly rare or expensive, were nonetheless pricey.
It seemed mainly for the sake of good fortune.
"Let’s buy them."
Lanci took out his Southern Continent Federal Bank Crystal Card.
The money wasn’t an issue.
Rebirth Jewels were essentially a fairytale, they could be any stone, so there was nothing special, it was all about sincerity and belief.
"Hey, if you two have a pair of bracelets, we can modify them to include the bracelets,"
said the Goddess Officer, suddenly noticing the matching bracelets Lanci and Talia wore.
Both reflexively looked down at their own and each other’s wrists.
They had received the bracelets as prizes at the Golden Bee Amusement Park, the [Celestial Wood Golden Bee Commemorative Bracelet].
Because it provided Lanci with a significant increase in spirit attribute, better than other magic cards, they had been wearing it since arriving in the Poseen Kingdom.
"The alteration won’t change the attributes, simply the mold’s design, for a small additional fee."
The Goddess Officer explained.
"We’d appreciate that, thank you,"
Lanci and Talia exchanged a glance and agreed.
They considered it an offering to the Goddess of Destiny.
After all, Rebirth Jewels were just legendary items from superstitious tales.
So they took off their bracelets and handed them over to the Goddess Officer, along with the crystal card.
"Thank you for your patronage. Please wait for a moment, you may rest over there on the seats."
After completing the transaction with a smile, the Goddess Officer handed over the other souvenirs and bowed. She felt her sales for the month were secured.
After all, few generous customers bought Rebirth Jewels.
Even the clergy themselves knew these gems were pretty but essentially useless and quite expensive.
Next came the long wait. Lanci and Talia found a spot to sit on the side of the church.
They waited for over an hour.
Talia, sitting on the long row of seats in the temple, had already finished a box of twenty-five assorted pastries under the watchful eye of the Goddess of Destiny.
In the meantime, she offered some to Lanci, but he was content just watching her eat.
Ultimately, she stuffed one into Lanci’s mouth anyway.
And Lanci was almost asleep in his chair.
Accompanied by footsteps, the Goddess Officer finally emerged from the casting chamber with a pair of bracelets and approached them.
"Sorry for the wait."
The Goddess Officer handed them the newly modified green and gold Celestial Wood bracelets, their streamlined and simple style unchanged, resembling leaves interlocking in a forest, except now each one featured an additional gem with the emblem of the Church of the Goddess of Destiny.
