As his words fell, he walked straight down the corridor until he disappeared from sight.

"It’s okay, don’t mind what that guy said; he was just talking nonsense."

Nigel’s voice softened as he spoke to Christina.

"Thank you for helping us out of that situation, Mr. Nigel."

Christina promptly gave him a bow.

Enon followed suit, bowing alongside Christina once more.

Before they could engage in conversation, Christina heard distant, trivial chatter: "The Bathist family’s daughter is actually in contact with the Demon World’s Lord Astrophel and the executioner Nigel; she is indeed planning to have Viscount Hammond killed." Christina’s eyebrows involuntarily trembled.

As was widely known, Duke Tiffany’s executioner was a ruthless enforcer of the law from the Demon Race, almost untouchable in his pursuit of any illegal activities.

Christina admitted to a slight dispute with Viscount Hammond, but how had it become so distorted in the nobility’s gossip that she was out to harm him?

"Miss Bathist, be careful these days."

Nigel’s gaze swept over the three confused Bathist children before resting on Christina, as he addressed her.

Instantly, fear filled Enon’s eyes, and she began to look around uneasily, as if falling into an abyss.

"Don’t worry, it’s not because of you."

Nigel shook his head, feeling that Enon had misunderstood.

Indeed, getting into trouble with the Diamond Gang in the Demon World of Poseen was dangerous, but that issue had been resolved; investigations had shown that they were attacked first by members of the Demon Race.

This woman named Enon was merely an unwitting bystander caught in the conflict, of no significant consequence.

The one who might indeed be targeted by the hidden hand was Lanci, or rather, his alias, Rocky McCarthy. n𝚘𝚟𝚙u𝚋.co𝚖

Because on that day, no useful information could be extracted from the berserk leader of the Diamond Gang. Nigel could see that the disturbance in District 7 of Poseen’s Demon World might have been orchestrated by the hidden hand behind the scenes as bait to lure out the Curse Breaker, deducing that following Nigel would certainly lead them to the Curse Breaker.

"You’re talking about Rocky, the butler, right? He is indeed in danger."

Christina agreed,

"But what is your relationship with him? Has Rocky been involved in any criminal activities?"

She curiously observed Nigel’s expression, sensing he might know more than she did.

She had spent a considerable amount of time with Rocky, yet she still found him to be a man shrouded in mystery.

"He is my assistant, so he may be involved in some cases."

Nigel simply replied.

Afterward, he bid farewell to Christina and Enon and returned to Duke Tiffany’s seat.

Christina was left alone, frowning and deep in thought on the couch.

Her mind began to wildly speculate.

She had heard rumors of potential unrest in Floral City Pariel.

The Senate forces, represented by Duke Tiffany, held the greatest power within the Poseen Kingdom.

The Lord of the Demon World in the north of Pariel, who needed to negotiate with The Senate, was essentially another power bloc and had longstanding disputes with The Senate.

The executioner, Nigel, an independent investigator, had seemingly switched sides from the Demon World’s Lord to The Senate, suggesting he had his own intelligence network and judgment.

To the south, the Cerryti Empire was exerting external pressure, and it was unknown if they had spies within the Poseen Kingdom, plotting something.

Beyond that, there was the hidden mastermind bearing the Curse of "The Resentment of Grand Sorcerer Parlony."

And for reasons unknown, the Rebirth Church appeared to be operating within the Poseen Kingdom as well.

The first three parties were somewhat splintered factions of the same side, while the latter three were traditionally the villainous external enemies.

Nobody knew what information each faction held beneath the surface calm of the lake, what each aimed to achieve, nor the pace at which they were advancing their agendas each second of every day.

Some unseen force might already be brewing to a critical point.

Ready to erupt at any moment.

Thankfully, the Bathist family was but an old-established clan focusing mainly on nationwide agricultural products and wine trade from the southern to the northern borders of Poseen; a state of unrest would certainly contract their business, but it wouldn’t bankrupt them.

Even so, Christina could only glimpse the tip of the iceberg when it came to the current political situation of the Poseen Kingdom.

Sergeant Nigel appeared to be the main protagonist-like figure capable of unraveling the entire event.

In this light, Rocky, who was on good terms with the executioner Nigel, seemed to be a mysterious and powerful individual wrapped in enigma, likely a good person who could turn the tide at crucial moments.

"Miss, will Pariel become very dangerous in the future?"

Enon’s voice interrupted Christina’s train of thought, bringing her back to reality. Turning her head, Christina saw only the worry written in Enon’s purple eyes beneath her red hair.

"Don’t worry, unless Floral City Pariel faces a large-scale downfall, no one would be able to reach the Count’s Mansion."

Christina patted Enon’s back with certainty.

Their mansion was still protected by an ancient Barrier handed down from their ancestors.

As they chatted, they noticed that the holographic magic screen suspended in the center of Skycrown Hall had begun showcasing a new candidate’s discussion on Magic Engineering Principles.

"Oh, Carlen is up,"

Christina exclaimed in surprise, grabbing Enon’s wrist to show her the scenes from the Artificial Shadow World.

This time’s Platinum Level Card Maker exam had betting tickets on who could pass.
