At the end of August in Floral City Pariel, it was also the fourth Sunday of the month.
The approach of autumn brought densely packed clouds.
A heavy layer of clouds shrouded the entire city of flowers, as if a heavy rain were merely a footstep away.
Therefore, the Sacred Silvervine Arena did not open its outdoor dome today, opting instead for the enclosed mode.
"So when it might rain, they close up the dome of the Sacred Silvervine Arena like this,"
Christina said, her hands resting on the back of the sofa, looking up at the sky from their seats, which the Baptist family had booked for three sessions at Skycrown Hall.
The entire venue’s dome was almost out of sight, projecting a distant starry sky with a deep blue background. The stars shimmered like bright jewels set within it, slowly flowing across the sky. Occasionally, a wisp of illusory white cloud passed by, enveloping the starry sky like a mist.
"Christina, sit properly," 𝖓𝔬𝔳𝖕𝖚𝖇.𝖈𝔬𝔪
Kyle, the eldest son of the Baptist family sitting on another sofa, looked at his sister with a mixture of helplessness and admonishment.
Although his sister had always grown up doing as she pleased, sitting so casually like an old man in such an occasion was far from the dignified image befitting an earl’s daughter.
"Ah, right,"
Christina responded offhandedly and sat up a bit straighter.
She then looked over at her brother Kyle.
Since the Rocky butler worked on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and today was Sunday, he hadn’t come with them.
That made Christina feel as though someone was missing.
And if she were to be wary of anyone, it would only be Rocky; without him around, she subconsciously relaxed.
"Miss, let’s go home early today,"
Enon quietly proposed to Christina from the side.
"Right, the weather isn’t great and I’ve heard we’re expecting a heavy downpour tonight,"
Christina was about to ask why when she realized for herself.
It wasn’t apparent indoors, but she could guess at the climate outside.
From time to time, the thunders from outside echoed faintly down the corridor at the entrance of the arena.
During her time with Enon, Christina had noticed that Enon didn’t like damp weather at all, neither getting rained on nor getting wet was to her liking.
Although the wounds on Enon’s body had mostly healed with the aid of the best medicines Christina could procure from the earl’s household, she still seemed perpetually timid.
According to the other maids in the house, they could hardly feel any magic power from Enon anymore, not even Christina was able to judge how strong Enon actually was.
She would just have to ask the butler again on Monday.
No, actually.
If the Tata lottery ticket she bought today won, she could fire butler Rocky on Monday.
Without the Evil God Rocky in the house, only her Enon would be with her every day; just the thought made Christina’s mind swirl with fantasies.
"Could we not fire butler Rocky..."
Enon seemed to have caught on to Christina’s thoughts and asked in a whisper almost as faint as a mosquito’s buzz.
"You can’t always rely on him or expect him to protect you. He’s already taught you everything basic you need to know, and you might even be stronger than him now,"
Christina confidently assured Enon.
The Enon whom she had hired might not necessarily be weaker than the Rocky her brother had employed; it’s just that Enon had been in a state of battle damage for a long time.
"..."
Kyle glanced at his sister.
Although he found it absurd that his sister was planning to dismiss the butler he had hired, if Christina truly intended to do so, he would not interfere much.
As long as Rocky agreed, he would leave it be.
After all, Kyle had long realized that a person like Rocky shouldn’t have been someone they could hire for five years with fifty thousand pounds.
Their encounter with Rocky could only be described as the Baptist family’s fate.
Giving freedom back to Rocky might very well be a good thing.
"This butler is so mysterious. Maybe he just didn’t want to be with us today on purpose,"
Christina mused as she looked around the Sacred Silvervine Arena.
She suspected that Rocky was here today because he had entrusted her to take care of Little Black Cat for the day.
"Meow, meow,"
Cat Boss sat nearby, pretending to be an ordinary cat.
During the first round of the assessment, Lanci left it in the care of Countess Rosalinda.
After the assessment finished, it went to find Tata.
Later, while working, Lanci brought it to Skycrown Hall during the second round of the assessment, and it fell in love with this luxurious branch.
So today, at Cat Boss’s request, Lanci left it with the Baptist family.
The final round of the Platinum Level Card Maker examination, "Artistic Creation," was well underway.
All the candidates were working on the assessment questions in the Shadow World, and one by one, candidates began to complete and submit their works.
The assessment question for this round was very simple and clear—
Create a piece of art, a portrait, where aside from the base score determined by the Artificial Shadow World, the rest of the points would be evaluated by the chief examiner.
Christina turned her attention to the screen.
Today was the last day of assessments, and it was quieter than any other day had been.
The holographic screen displayed the various candidates in the Platinum Sen Palace simulated by the Artificial Shadow World, each in their designated area, undisturbed as they worked on their creations.
The view shifted from time to time within the Platinum Sen Palace.
In the spacious central hall, the eyes were first captured by the massive stalactite dome, with extravagant plaster reliefs gleaming under the light. The angel figures seemed to dance vivaciously as though they were about to leap out from the plaster, and at the center of the dome, a stained glass mosaic like a bright pearl, cast a rainbow of light beams onto the marble floor.
