This is the Imperial Military Staff and the Imperial Military Headquarters.
As the highest command institution of the Imperial Army, it’s responsible for formulating major strategic guidelines, allocating and coordinating various types of operations.
The position of Chief of Staff is held by Hesintos of the Diamond Throne, a Cerryti Empire Marshal, who is directly accountable to Emperor Baldo Hoffman Temple.
He oversees military affairs of the Imperial Army, forms Imperial troops, and establishes battle plans.
It has several army groups under its command, including the headquarters of the Imperial Land Forces, the Imperial Air Forces, the Imperial Navy, the Imperial Weapons and Equipment Department, the General Mobilization Department, and the War Propaganda Department.
As for the independent Capital Garrison Headquarters and the Empire’s Special Operations Department, although they are not under the direct jurisdiction of the Imperial Military Headquarters and are directly subordinate to Emperor Crete, their authority is not higher than the Imperial Army, and they must still obey the commands of the Headquarters when necessary, and they cannot intrude upon the Headquarters without authorization.
At this moment,
in the deepest core of this building, a huge space known as the "Divine Descendant Hall."
The Hall is excavated downward in the shape of a circular theatre, surrounded by twelve archways.
On the temple’s dome, a mosaic composed of thousands of luminous Immortal Crystals illuminates the dark marble floor below.
This is the meeting place exclusively for the Twelve War Gods of the Empire. 𝒏𝒐𝙫𝙥𝙪𝙗.𝒄𝙤𝙢
It’s also the least likely area for intrusion within the Cerryti Empire.
In non-wartime, even Ninth-order Strongmen have no chance of breaking through the defense of half of the War Gods.
Now, with most of the War Gods dispatched to battle, the Divine Descendant Hall has become correspondingly quieter.
Usually, only Hesintos, the First Army God stationed in the capital, and Violet, the Sixth Army God, would meet here.
However, this evening, in the deserted center of the divine hall, at the round table amidst the long benches, sat Third Army God Ge Yate of the Seat of Entwined Agate.
He was clad in an obsidian overcoat with subtle dark patterns, fitting him like misty armor, seamless and precise.
His Mechanical Staff, composed of countless silver gears, was placed beside him.
He sat quietly, seemingly waiting for someone.
Until, after a long time,
there were faint footsteps emerging from the shadows of a door at the far end of the temple.
Ge Yate slowly lifted his eyes to look in that direction.
A figure in a doctor’s attire stepped out of the darkness with an unhurried pace.
He was dressed in a modest white coat, under which were silvery white hair and a handsome face with a smiling squint.
"You’re here, Luke Jayed," Ge Yate said.
"Hope I didn’t keep you waiting, after all, my journey has been nonstop," replied the man dressed as a doctor, approaching.
Aside from the steadfast First Army God Hesintos of the Diamond Throne and the Sixth Army God Violet of the Aqua Jade Throne, who remained in the heart of the Empire, the other War Gods would return for resupply and recuperation as needed, with strategies adjusted according to the frontline situations.
Usually, three War Gods would operate in one region of the Kingdom Joint Council alliance.
But now an adjustment was needed.
That is, for Third Army God Ge Yate of the Entwining Agate Throne and Fifth Army God Lait of the Mica Throne,
to reassign the stronger attacker and suppressor, Ge Yate to the Western Hub Zone, and the stronger support and disruptor, Lait to the eastern region.
As an alchemist proficient in [Poison] and [Alchemy], Fifth Army God Lait of the Mica Throne had the swift ability to help other Eight-order Strongmen heal, adjust their condition, and receive enhancements.
Since the war began, Fifth War God, Luke Jayed has been the most frequently dispatched War God, moving between many locations.
Contrary to the immobile First Army God Hesintos and Sixth Army God Violet, Fifth War God Luke Jayed could appear anywhere.
"Let me take a look at you while I’m here."
Lait held a dark golden medical box in his left hand and sat down next to Ge Yate.
This exchange also allowed Ge Yate to return to the capital Brilda to recuperate to his best condition before Lait headed to the eastern region to attend to the other two War Gods.
"Hope this doesn’t delay you."
Third Army God Ge Yate nodded slightly, speaking in a flat tone.
"Ge Yate, a healer should always be unhurried. We are both men racing against time; there’s no need to dwell on mere moments," responded Fifth War God Lait, his squinting eyes curved, his voice clear and pleasant.
After speaking, he deftly opened the medical box, took out a crystal-clear bottle filled with a green liquid, and gently held Ge Yate’s wrist, pushing back the sleeve. He placed his fingertip on Ge Yate’s pulse, closed his eyes, and concentrated, feeling the rhythm of the Magic Power circuit.
"You do seem to be overexerting yourself lately. It’s best to give me an hour here," Lait said after a moment, his tone unhurried.
"Thank you," Ge Yate replied succinctly.
Lait picked up the medicine bottle and syringe, injected it into Ge Yate’s vein, and began to blend the potency of the poison using Alchemy Magic.
The concoction he was using would be violently toxic if administered directly, but under his precise control, continually decomposing and reassembling it, it became capable of providing rapid healing effects.
The process was lengthy.
"What’s Hesintos busying himself with?" asked Ge Yate, the patient with nothing else to do at the moment, to the healer Lait.
Fifth War God Yunmu Lujia Ye De’s movements were directed by the First Army God Hesintos, and Lait must have seen Hesintos before coming here.
"I wouldn’t know, he’s been too preoccupied to tie up your loose ends lately."
