Their relationship was neither good nor bad; they simply had known each other for a long time and often came together due to their talents that belied their age, which had led to some interaction.
Because Ursula liked to tease her, it made her somewhat dislike Ursula.
Yet Ursula had indeed inherited the Roland family’s fine traditions and possessed the righteousness of a griffon knight. When Elsa faced trouble, Ursula would appear unpredictably to help her, which made it hard for Elsa to truly dislike Ursula.
"Why don’t you just tell him," she suggested. "There’s no need to beat around the bush. You’re like cotton. You know, he just looked like a womanizer who’s adept at fending off the ladies. I bet he’s quite experienced in such matters."
Ursula spread her hands in a blunt critique of Elsa.
She had only vaguely overheard bits of Elsa’s conversation with Landry, but she didn’t need to hear it clearly to know what Elsa had wanted to say.
"No, you mustn’t talk about my brother like that."
Elsa looked genuinely angry as she spoke to Ursula.
"And what are you going to do if I do speak ill of him?"
Ursula leaned in closer, puffing out her chest in defiance.
"I…"
Elsa’s eyes drifted away, and she found herself unable to speak, stepping back half a step to avoid Ursula.
"Your brother doesn’t seem like he doesn’t care about you, so what’s there to worry about?"
Ursula stopped and stared at Elsa, questioning her.
The reason why Elsa was so highly regarded by Headmaster Violet was because of signs of her ancestral return, gifting her with the potential of a Moon God Priest.
And this potential brought her unique abilities and dangers.
Many times, when Headmaster Violet was absent due to her important imperial duties, Elsa could face danger.
Ursula was one of the few who knew Elsa’s secret. She figured that since Elsa was so considerate of others, only with someone as willful and heartless as her could Elsa open up and speak her mind without reservations.
"Let’s forget it. If there’s no trouble, then all is well. If there really is trouble, I don’t want to drag my brother into it."
Elsa muttered hesitantly.
She knew well about her brother’s ties with the divine, and that it was only natural for the Goddess of Destiny not to favor him.
"Tsks tsks."
Ursula had no further intentions of advising Elsa.
"It’s been years since you’ve seen your brother, how do you think he has changed?"
Ursula placed her hands behind her back, leaning against the wall and casually asking the young girl beside her.
"Although it feels like my brother has changed a bit, he seems more of a stranger now, colder in my eyes, as though he’s lost some essential human emotions. It’s as if his mind was taken over by some evil parasite, leaving a human-shaped creature…"
Elsa answered, her eyes first showing concern, but finally a trace of relief appeared.
"But feeling the gentleness still in his heart, that reassures me."
She held her chest and whispered softly.
"You really do think about your brother a lot, don’t you."
After listening, Ursula’s expression turned complex, but she quickly masked it, showing the frivolous smile she had always given Elsa, as though mocking her.
"What are you talking about."
Elsa’s cheeks flushed slightly, not wanting to continue the conversation with Ursula anymore.
Huffily, she curtsied farewell and quickly walked away.
Ursula would never understand her; she wasn’t like Ursula. She never caused her brother trouble or intentionally angered him.
Only Ursula would recklessly make enemies for the family, never considering the feelings of her relatives.
Until long after Elsa had left the corridors of the fourth floor.
"..."
Ursula still leaned against the wall, her gaze lowered with a hint of self-mockery.
"Ah, not knowing blessing when it’s upon you. How nice it would be to get that much attention."
Ursula spread her hands in a sigh, then walked away.
