The slanting sun cast long shadows upon the dark wooden floor of the study on the second floor of Lanci’s mansion.
The wall clock’s hands had already passed half past five.
Lanci sat at the desk, flipping through several weighty books in South Crayneyan, preparing for the work that was about to come.
Talia was sitting beside him, keeping him company.
Every now and then, she would pick up a pen to help Lanci complete the half-written content in the books.
She understood what Lanci was thinking and what he wanted to accomplish.
"Did resting this afternoon help improve your efficiency?"
Talia asked.
"The answer is definitely yes."
Lanci replied.
He had rested by the stream’s bench at the Saint Kray Temple after lunch as promised and had begun working again once he returned home.
Talia had also started to share the workload of Saint Kray Temple.
She had not only nearly optimized the Cat Boss, but had also begun to optimize the Great Love Poet, managing much of what the Great Love Poet could do, and even far surpassing him in the knowledge of Magical Engineering.
"Why ’nearly’ optimized the Cat Boss?"
Talia looked up and asked.
She could always hear Lanci’s thoughts.
She wanted to know where she could still improve.
"Because it is a cat."
Lanci answered briefly.
"What do you mean?"
Talia did not understand.
"Because it is a cat."
Lanci repeated.
"..."
Talia gradually gripped her pen tighter, finally understanding.
She really wanted to punch Lanci.
But she feared he might actually enjoy it, so she restrained herself.
The remaining glow of the setting sun dyed the Brilda sky outside the study with a fire-like crimson, as occasionally a golden canary flitted past the window.
Lanci was fully immersed in his lesson preparation, utterly unaware of the passage of time.
The fine tip of his pen moved over the paper, emitting a subtle scratching sound.
Monday was approaching.
Lanci had to be prepared in advance.
To convey some of his knowledge under the guise of "Genesis Record" made much more sense.
For instance, during the last class in the Elliot Building, he had written the "Chapter of Sealing and Imprisonment" and the "Chapter of Flame and Fury" in Demon Race Script, discreetly integrating a fair share of secrets from [Original Tablet - Fire] and [Original Stone Tablet - Sealed].
Deeper teachings coming up would necessitate a closer interpretation related to Magical Engineering; he could no longer simply use "Genesis Record" as a shield.
What he needed now was the jewel of Magical Engineering—
"The Periodic Table of Attributes."
It was a crucial tool in the realm of Magical Engineering, organizing the attributes by their divine order from smallest to largest and demonstrating the connections and patterns between attributes. It had been Lanci’s favorite course, "Introduction to the Magic System" at Ichrite Academy.
"Genesis Record" had provided a prototype of the "Periodic Table of Attributes." Since unknown times, the table had undergone multiple arrangements, translations, and revisions, forming various types such as the short form, the long form, and the extended form.
Ichrite used the short-form periodic table in teaching.
Compact and easy to reference, it was suitable for displaying fundamental properties of attributes and was ideal for beginners and educational scenarios, making it easy to understand and memorize.
However, the Cerryti Empire consistently used the long-form periodic table and, strictly speaking, higher level courses in the Kingdom also used it.
At this moment, Lanci held a book printed with the Cerryti Empire language version of the "Long-form Periodic Table of Attributes."
The table was overall circular with each attribute cell shaped subtly fan-like, rather than the conventional rectangle.
Simply put, the first row on the left consisted of only one attribute, the [Basic], representing ordinary attacks, positioned at the very beginning, signifying that it was inherent and possessed by everyone.
It corresponded to the "Genesis Record’s" first chapter, "The Chapter of the Original and the Void," also related to [Original Tablet - Foundation], with the effect of enhancing all ordinary attacks, making it a notably special stone slab.
Looking across to the right side of the table, the entire right side of the first row consisted of elemental properties.
Most people were naturally adept in at least one or two of these attribute elements, namely [Ice],[Fire],[Light],[Dark],[Wind],[Thunder],[Earth],[Water],[Wood], corresponding from the second to the tenth chapter of "Genesis Record."
"You are quite adept in Light and Fire, while I’m more aligned with Ice and Dark."
Talia remarked while looking at these few elemental attributes,
"It’s really quite strange that we get along so well."
She felt that she and Lanci should naturally clash by fate, yet from their past interactions, this seemed indeed accurate.
"Still, the Basic attribute is good, everyone likes it."
Lanci shifted his gaze to the left, musing aloud.
"..."
"No, the Spiritual attribute is the best, you must like it."
For some reason, Talia instinctively blurted out this statement, a strange competitiveness rising within her,
"Do you remember the first Magic Card you made? That was the Spiritual Attribute."
She tried to remind Lanci of his first Magic Card made back in his homeland in Nanwantina.
"Quite right."
Lanci pondered, the Spiritual Attribute indeed marked where his dreams began, no𝚟𝚙u𝚋.c𝚘m
"The Concealment attribute is also good, the most adept and most made Magic Card of mine, the [Transformation Magic: Human], is of the Concealment attribute."
Lanci reminisced.
He could now create [Transformation Magic: Human] even with his eyes closed.
"You really have mastered the Concealment attribute."
Talia commented.
