Fu Rongyin didn’t answer her question, slammed the car door shut, and took the driver’s seat. 𝔫𝖔𝖛𝖕𝔲𝔟.𝔠𝖔𝖒
The car soon vanished from sight.
Nan Bingyu and Chu Shuo, on their way back, saw the car driving away in the distance.
They exchanged a glance, both seeing bewilderment in the other’s eyes.
It was only later that Nan Bingyu belatedly took out her phone to call Chi Yue, but there was no answer after several attempts.
She looked at Chu Shuo, “Have we been abandoned?”
Chu Shuo didn’t understand the situation either, but with the car taken by Fu Rongyin, all he could do was to call someone to pick them up.
In the car, Chi Yue heard her phone ringing.
Just as she took the phone out, Fu Rongyin snatched it away.
Chi Yue glared at him, “Please give me back my phone.”
Fu Rongyin casually tossed the phone into the back seat, “If you don’t want to go home, I can drop you off on the road.”
Chi Yue immediately gave up the idea.
The ringtone from the back seat kept sounding, so Chi Yue simply closed her eyes.
When she opened her eyes again, the car was parked beneath her apartment building.
The first thing Chi Yue did after getting out of the car was to retrieve her phone and walk away without looking back.
Fu Rongyin watched her retreating figure, his dark eyes flashing a trace of gloom.
He didn’t rush away, making a phone call before restarting the car.
Just before leaving, he caught a glimpse of Chi Yue running out, pale-faced.
Her steps were erratic as she ran up to knock on his car window, “Mr.
Fu, can you…
take me to the hospital?”
Fu Rongyin noticed her voice trembling.
He made a gesture, and Chi Yue, as if clutching the last straw, got into the car as quickly as possible.
“Could you please drive faster?” she pleaded.
Fu Rongyin glanced at her and pressed a bit harder on the accelerator.
Half an hour later, Chi Yue appeared at the emergency room door.
She was holding her phone, her knuckles turning white.
Bai Qing had been in the emergency room for two hours and hadn’t come out yet.
A nurse mentioned that Chi Qingqing and Yang Shulan had visited again, agitating Bai Qing into the emergency room.
Chi Yue couldn’t help but wonder, if she hadn’t listened to Bai Qing and gone out to relax with them, would this have happened?
Chi Yue dared not think further.
The phone suddenly left her palm; it was taken.
Without looking, Chi Yue knew who had taken her phone.
Her phone screen wasn’t off, still displaying the call log page, and Fu Rongyin immediately saw several missed calls from the hospital.
He paused momentarily, found Nan Bingyu’s number, and called her.
On the way back, Nan Bingyu and Chu Shuo learned that Bai Qing was back in the emergency room and without hesitation, Chu Shuo drove directly to the hospital.
Fu Rongyin returned the phone to her, “Are you so anxious to get married because of your mother?”
Chi Yue took the phone back, “No.”
Fu Rongyin looked at her, “Nan Bingyu should be here soon.
Call me if you need anything.”
After saying that, he left.
It wasn’t until he reached the ground floor that he realized he hadn’t given her his number.
Nan Bingyu arrived at the hospital shortly after, with Chu Shuo accompanying her.
There was no immediate danger to Bai Qing’s life, but after the repeated shocks, she couldn’t be weaned from the ventilator.
Nan Bingyu’s eyes reddened as she looked at Chi Yue, “I’ll stay at the hospital to accompany you for the next few days.”
Chi Yue’s expression was indifferent, unreadable in her calm, “It’s enough for me to stay.
Just go about your business.”
Others might think Chi Yue was cold and heartless, but only Nan Bingyu knew that the more distressed Chi Yue was, the more indifferent she appeared.
Nan Bingyu was deeply affected seeing Bai Qing in such a state, so how could Chi Yue not feel anything at all?
Chu Shuo was also feeling bad, but he had to leave now, “Let me know if you need anything.
