79 -79: Won’t Get Married
After hanging up, Nan Bingyu looked utterly bewildered.
Chi Yue asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Chu Shuo wants me to bring you back to my house and told me not to ask why.”
Chi Yue frowned, “Did something happen?”
“I’m not sure, it wasn’t clear over the phone.
He’s not an unreasonable person, let’s head back and figure out what’s going on.”
Chi Yue thought that made sense.
Chu Shuo loved to have fun, but he had no bad intentions; she trusted that he wouldn’t harm her.
Upon arriving at the Nan Family home, Nan Bingyu’s parents received her joyfully, especially Nan Bingyu’s mother, who pulled Chi Yue into conversation about family matters.
Nan Bingyu couldn’t stand it and pulled Chi Yue back to her room.
“My mom is too enthusiastic; I can’t handle it.”
If she brought a man home, who knows, they might get scared off before their seat even warmed up.
Chi Yue grinned, “It’s quite nice to have an aunt with this personality.”
Turning to Nan Bingyu, Chi Yue smiled.
When Nan Bingyu called Chu Shuo, she didn’t expect that he wouldn’t answer.
She simply gave up.
Chi Yue stayed at the Nan Family’s home for two days.
By Monday, it was time for her to go to work, and they still hadn’t managed to contact Chu Shuo.
Nan Bingyu was a bit worried, “Why don’t you take a few days off and see what’s going on before deciding whether to go to work or not?”
“There won’t be any problem.”
The Lin Family wouldn’t do anything to her anymore, and Chi Jianshan just wanted her property, which he couldn’t get his hands on in a short time.
After thinking it over carefully, Nan Bingyu also felt that Chi Yue wouldn’t be in any danger, but still decided to personally escort Chi Yue to work.
Unexpectedly, before they even left the house, several people walked in from outside.
The two paused and exchanged glances.
Why were Chu Shuo’s parents here?
On this end, Nan Bingyu’s parents also came out and welcomed Chu Shuo’s parents inside.
They were of a similar age, and all the parents knew each other.
Seeing that she wasn’t needed here, Nan Bingyu and Chi Yue started to walk out.
“Hey, wait,” Mr.
Chu spoke up, “Chi Yue, don’t go yet, we have something to tell you.”
Not only was Chi Yue stunned, but everyone from the Nan Family was as well.
Nan Bingyu asked with a beaming smile, “Uncle Chu, what do you need Chi Yue for?”
“A good thing, of course, a good thing.”
“What good thing?”
“Well, it’s about her and Chu Shuo getting ready to marry.
We’re here to discuss the wedding details with Yueyue.”
Chi Yue froze.
Nan Bingyu shot Chi Yue a puzzled look, and gradually, she seemed to understand the meaning behind Chu Shuo’s phone call.
As Chi Yue recovered from her shock, she said, “Uncle Chu, is there a mistake?
Chu Shuo and I are just friends, nothing more.”
“That’s not an issue, you’ll be related once you’re married.”
Chi Yue, “We are not getting married.
You must be mistaken.”
Saying this, Chi Yue gave Nan Bingyu a look, who, understanding, quietly dialed Chu Shuo’s number.
The ringing came from the front yard, and soon, it grew closer.
Nan Bingyu looked toward the door and immediately relaxed, “Chu Shuo, come quick, Uncle Chu seems to have some misunderstanding about you and Chi Yue.”
Chu Shuo walked up to his parents with a dark expression and spoke in a grim tone, “Have you caused enough trouble?”
“How can you talk to your parents like that!” Mr.
Chu feigned anger, then turned to Chi Yue, “Yueyue, don’t be scared.
If he bullies you, feel free to bully him back.
We’ll all support you.”
Chu Shuo’s expression darkened even more.
“How many times do I have to say it before you stop embarrassing yourselves?”
Seeing that Chu Shuo was genuinely angry, his parents didn’t provoke him any further.
Chu Shuo turned to Nan Bingyu, “You guys go ahead, I’ll handle this.”
Chi Yue didn’t move, “Chu Shuo, what’s going on here?”
