Chapter 973: Chapter 972: Taking Away the Imperial Succession Jade Seal_1

Chapter 973 -972: Taking Away the Imperial Succession Jade Seal_1

A sharp, ear-piercing sound disrupted the tranquillity of the inner palace.

Lin Yixuan abruptly turned around and glanced towards the palace door.

“Hmph.”

The Prime Minister walked into the inner palace with a contemptuous snort and a forged imperial edict, his face was dark with anger.

“Wait a moment, sir.”

The attendant chuckled insincerely and walked straight towards the emperor’s bed.

Lin Yixuan hid behind an invisibility talisman. The attendant could not see him and did not sense any abnormalities.

Once in front of the bed, the attendant lowered his voice and murmured, “Your Majesty, the Prime Minster needs the Imperial Jade Seal. I’ve no other choice, please, don’t blame me.”

Lin Yixuan stepped aside, watching as the attendant bent down and fetched a square jade box from inside the pillow.

The attendant carried the jade box towards the Prime Minister.

Lin Yixuan’s eyes flickered, and quietly rose to his feet, following after the attendant.

“Prime Minister, I’ve brought the Imperial Jade Seal.”

The attendant placed the jade box on the desk, opened the box, and took out the Imperial Succession Jade Seal.

The Prime Minister’s eyes were fixated on the Imperial Jade Seal. A hint of greed flashed across his eyes before he quickly composed himself and laid the forged imperial edict flat on the desk.

Lin Yixuan’s eyelids dropped slightly, looking at the handwriting on the edict. The more he read, the more he felt a surge of anger welling up inside him.

In the forged imperial edict, the Prime Minister maligned the Duke of Zhen for sheltering the Evil King, causing chaos in the Fengqi court.

In the name of the Empress, he issued a decree for the seizure of Duke’s properties as a warning to others.

The Prime Minister spread the imperial edict on the desk. He received the Imperial Jade Seal from the attendant, a sinister smile creeping up the corner of his mouth.

Just as he lifted the Imperial Jade Seal to stamp the edict, Lin Yixuan used every ounce of his strength and rushed towards him.

“Aiyoy.”

The Prime Minister cried out in pain. The Imperial Jade Seal flew out of his hand, and the man was flung three meters away, crashing hard onto the ground.

Lin Yixuan seized the opportunity, catching the Imperial Jade Seal and stashing it in his storage bag.

“Ah, there’s a ghost!”

The sight of the Imperial Jade Seal mysteriously disappearing scared the wits out of the attendant, causing him to faint out of fear.

“Guards, there’s an assassin!”

In his panic, the Prime Minister yelled out loudly.

Upon hearing his shout, a team of Imperial Guards swarmed into the inner palace.

Lin Yixuan held his breath and quietly retreated towards the direction of the emperor’s bed.

“What happened, Prime Minister?”

The Deputy Commander of the Imperial Guard entered the palace. He saw no assassin. When his eyes fell on the forged edict, his pupils contracted, and he instinctively averted his gaze, not daring to look anymore.

“An assassin broke into the inner palace and stole the Imperial Jade Seal.”

The Prime Minister was extremely angry, “He couldn’t have gone far. He must be nearby. You all, search carefully. We have to capture him.”

“Yes, sir.”

The Deputy Commander of the Imperial Guard led his team to carry out a thorough search in the inner palace.

As two of the guards approached the emperor’s bed, Lin Yixuan, with nowhere else to hide, leapt onto the bed, hiding near the Empress’s feet.

Two Imperial Guards walked up to the bed. Just as they were about to use their swords to lift up the blanket, the Leader of the Qilin Guards appeared out of nowhere and knocked the two guards away without hesitation.

“How dare you disrespect Her Majesty.”

Followed by Jifeng and Jiyu coming out of the shadows and standing guard in front of the emperor’s bed with their swords drawn.

“Did any of you see the assassin?”

The Deputy Commander of the Imperial Guard shrinked his neck in fear, not daring to meet the gaze of the Leader of the Qilin Guards.

“No.”

Jifeng and Jiyu answered simultaneously.

“What about the Imperial Jade Seal?”

The Deputy Commander of the Imperial Guard instinctively asked.

“We did.”

The two nodded simultaneously. Realizing the Deputy Commander’s hopeful gaze, they scoffed, “No one stole it. It just disappeared.”

“Hiss.”

Chills ran down the Deputy Commander’s spine and he took a deep, cold breath.

“Prime Minister, what should we….”

“Keep searching.”

The Prime Minister was beside himself with fury, “Even if it’s a ghost, find it!”
