Chapter 47 - 47: Suddenly Appearing Downstairs
Lin Banxia trembled all over and let out a low cry, "Are you Huo Yanting?"
"Even my voice is unfamiliar to you?" The man's tone was filled with displeasure at her reaction.
Lin Banxia's heartbeat abruptly sped up, but she quickly responded coldly, "It's already late, I'm not going out!"
"I'm downstairs from your place," the man's voice rang out again.
Lin Banxia jumped up in shock and immediately ran to the window. Through the shadows of the trees, she saw a stretched Lincoln limousine parked not far from her home.
"I'll give you three minutes. Either you come down, or I come up," the man domineeringly threw out the ultimatum and hung up.
Lin Banxia was nearly fuming with rage. Was Huo Yanting out of his mind? Who did he think he was?
If her family found out he had come looking for her in the dead of night, this scandal would undoubtedly spread throughout the entire city within half an hour.
If the scandal truly broke out, her reputation would be completely destroyed, and her plan for revenge would be ruined.
So, she decided to go downstairs.
She picked out a very conservative dress and quietly went downstairs.
At this hour, her family was asleep, and even the maid was sound asleep. Hopefully, no one would notice her sneaking out.
With a guilty conscience, she ran to the side of the car.
She hadn't even reached out to knock on the door when it was pushed open from inside. Immediately, a voice commanded, "Get in."
Lin Banxia had no choice but to climb in.
The level of luxury inside was jaw-dropping.
The man leaned elegantly and lazily against the seatback, a bottle of red wine opened nearby, its aroma mingling with the faint scent of smoke.
Everything about this scene was a stark reminder of how ill-considered and dangerous it was to meet this man at this hour.
"Why are you looking for me so late? Don't you sleep?" Lin Banxia frowned as she questioned him.
"Hearing you show concern like that, I suddenly feel like sleeping." The man's deep and inscrutable eyes remained locked on her, their scorching intensity so fierce it made one want to retreat.
Lin Banxia wanted to slap herself. Why had she said that? Why bring up the word "sleep" at all?
"If you're feeling sleepy, then I'll just get out of the car—I'm quite tired too," Lin Banxia immediately seized the opportunity, trying to flee.
"Dare to get out and see what happens," the man instantly threatened her, his dominance unwavering.
Lin Banxia froze, her outstretched hand suspended mid-air. Her beautiful eyes flickered toward the side, carrying a trace of resentment as she glared at him. "Mr. Huo, if you have something to say, just say it. It's seriously inappropriate to meet like this so late."
"Your performance today wasn't bad. At dinner, my grandmother scolded Huo Anya and her brother in front of the entire family, ripping them apart." The man spoke casually.
Lin Banxia froze, then laughed dryly, "Is that so? So, what reward do I get for that?"

For the first time, Lin Banxia had the urge to bite her own tongue.
Why bring up the topic of rewards? She was done for—his gaze had grown ambiguous.
"What if I offer myself as your reward? Would that satisfy you?" Suddenly, the man leaned toward her. His overwhelming masculine scent enveloped Lin Banxia, leaving her somewhat dizzy.
"Mr. Huo, y-you're joking, right? Someone as distinguished as yourself—how could I even dare accept that?" Lin Banxia explained nervously with a forced smile.
"I permit you to reach high," the man's voice dropped to an ominous rumble, raspy with a simmering heat of desire.
Lin Banxia froze, her body tensed tight. Her stunning eyes flickered rapidly. "Mr. Huo, this joke isn't funny at all. I really need to head back now."
"Lin Banxia, do you know how many women covet the chance to share my bed? And you want to throw this opportunity away?" Huo Yanting's eyes narrowed dangerously. Her eagerness to leave was as if she trampled on his pride, igniting his dissatisfaction to the extreme.
Lin Banxia hardly dared to breathe and could only respond in a small voice, "Someone as outstanding and exceptional as Mr. Huo, with such a noble background, and poised to become the Huo Family's head... of course, many women would want to climb up to you."
