Chapter 51 - 51: Mr. Huo Gets Jealous, the Consequences Are Severe
"Big brother is so outstanding and accomplished, this kind of request isn't too much. Don't worry, I will definitely help you pick out the best one. Once I've chosen, I'll send her straight to your bed." Huo Qinglin didn't sound like he was joking.
He genuinely wanted to put a few women in Yan Ting's bed. Women were the best way to disturb a man's focus. If he could get Yan Ting hooked on indulgence, perhaps he wouldn't be so precise and astute when it came to work.
And once mistakes happened at work, their grandfather would surely be gravely disappointed in him.
How could Yan Ting not understand his motives? He smiled faintly. "I'll be waiting for you to send me women. Don't let me down."
"Big brother, my taste is impeccable." Huo Qinglin's enthusiasm grew instantly when he saw his agreement.
Banxia kept her head down and stayed silent. When men talked about women, was it always this disrespectful?
They spoke as if whoever they wanted, they could just take to bed—completely tyrannical.
"Dinner isn't ready yet. I'll take a walk in the garden," Banxia decided instantly to escape such an atmosphere.
Huo Qinglin didn't have much to say to her and readily agreed to let her go for a stroll.
Banxia left the hall quickly, taking a secluded path through the garden.
The Huo Family's estate was massive; almost every member of the Huo Family had their own space here in the manor.
Thus, the garden was designed to palace-like standards, with perfection and elegance in every corner.
Banxia tucked herself away in a relatively deserted gazebo. At last, the world seemed quiet, with nothing but the chorus of insects around her.
She picked up a small stone and threw it forcefully onto the lake surface, gritting her teeth and muttering angrily, "Screw you, Huo Qinglin."
After a brief outburst, her mood calmed down slightly.
She started contemplating the cruise trip tomorrow. Should she go or not? 𝖓𝔬𝔳𝔭𝔲𝔟.𝖈𝖔𝔪
In truth, even though she kept talking about wanting revenge against Huo Qinglin, she didn't actually know how to go about it.
She wasn't capable of murder or arson, so her only means of vengeance involved crafty disruption.
With her somewhat dull mind, she couldn't come up with any brilliant plans. So far, she'd only managed to embarrass the Huo Family once.
And sacrificed her dignity in the process.
What a loss!
"You accepted his proposal?" Suddenly, a deep and cold male voice rang out behind her.
Banxia jolted upright in shock and turned her head, only to see a tall and dangerous figure standing under the shadows of the trees.
"How did you find me here?" Banxia's heart grew anxious again. She couldn't understand why Huo Yanting always gave her an ominous sense of danger.
"This is my home!" the man sneered coldly.
Banxia had no choice but to lower her gaze. "If Mr. Huo wants some peace and quiet here, I won't disturb you."
With that, she moved to pass him and leave.
Because the gazebo was hidden amongst tall trees, he was standing in the only path out.
Just as she brushed past him, a strong, iron-like hand grabbed her wrist abruptly and shoved her forcefully forward.
"Ah..." Banxia let out a startled cry. Immediately after, she felt the dangerous scent of a man closing in on her.
Her back pressed against a pillar as the man's long, firm arms caged her in on either side of her head, locking her within his embrace.
"Lin Banxia, didn't I warn you? I don't like it when you degrade yourself." The man's deep and icy voice landed heavily by her ear, tinged with anger.
Banxia lifted her head and, by the faint glow of a distant streetlamp, looked into the man's piercing, cold eyes.
"Mr. Huo, I made it clear to you last night: we are just partners, not a transaction. You cannot restrict my freedom," Banxia mustered her courage to retort.
"The pear garden—you don't want it anymore?" The man's indifferent tones brushed past her ear.
Banxia's small frame suddenly froze. Her bright, dark eyes filled with unease as she stared at the man's sharply handsome face.
It looked like he had just returned from work. He was clad in a formal black suit, a white shirt, and a gray-blue tie that was meticulously knotted. His neatly combed black hair accentuated the sharp elegance of his face, making him appear even more domineering.
