Huo Qinglin gritted his teeth, the veins on his forehead bulging as he snapped in anger, "Without proof, don't talk nonsense. Who's involved with Lu Huan Ning?"
Lin Banxia quickly activated the audio recording on her phone, her sneer expression unwavering. "Dare you swear to the heavens that there's absolutely nothing between you and her? Dare you?"
"Why wouldn't I dare? She's just a third-rate wannabe model. I admit, she did confess to me several times, but I rejected her for your sake. Banxia, you must've misunderstood. She's been clinging to me relentlessly, trying to use me to climb up the ladder. I never felt anything for her." Huo Qinglin sobered up somewhat, assuming Lin Banxia wanted to break up because she discovered his connections with Lu Huan Ning. He immediately tried to clear himself of any wrongdoing and regain control of the situation.
"Really? You truly don't love her? Then... have you slept with her?" Lin Banxia, intent on prying for more information, pretended to be hurt as she asked.
"Of course not... Fine, she asked me several times to book a room, but I never went. You need to understand, she's your cousin. Why would I ever do anything to hurt you? If you ask me, that Lu Huan Ning is just cheap trash, throwing herself at me because I'm rich and powerful. Rest assured, as long as we don't break up, I promise I won't ever see her again in this lifetime." At this point, Huo Qinglin's only goal was to make Lin Banxia change her mind, not break up, and continue carrying out his plan.
Seeing she had elicited enough, Lin Banxia simply declared, "The breakup is real. We're not getting back together. Go find some other woman—you and I, we're not a match."
