Chapter 78 - 78 Seeking His Help

"Yes, there's something important I want to talk to you about." Banxia had already made up her mind—her fate would be decided in this one moment. With that resolve, her nerves seemed to quiet. Or perhaps it was the man's languid tone that inexplicably calmed her heart.

"Where are you? Should I come to you, or will you come to me?" The man's voice remained as unhurried as ever.

"Uh... I'm just downstairs at your company!" His unexpected words gave Banxia a glimmer of hope.

"Oh?" His tone lifted slightly, as if carrying a trace of amusement. "I'll have Qi Han come down to get you. Head to the lobby."

"Alright!" As soon as Banxia finished speaking, the line went dead.

Banxia felt her breath suddenly ease a little. She hadn't expected Huo Yanting to even give her the opportunity to meet and speak with him.

This was already a good start, wasn't it?

Banxia, trembling slightly, made her way to the lobby, where she saw Qi Han already waiting by the private elevator doors.

Seeing her, he waved and smiled, "Miss Lin, this way!"

Banxia hurried over and offered polite words, "Mr. Qi, I appreciate your trouble."

"No trouble at all." Qi Han smiled back courteously, pressing the elevator button. The doors slid open, and the two of them stepped inside.

Inside the elevator, Banxia quickly took a cautious look at Qi Han. Discovering that he exuded an air of friendliness, she gathered her courage to ask, "Mr. Qi, if I may ask a bold question—does your boss have a good temper?"

Qi Han paused momentarily before replying, "That depends on the person."

"Oh!" Banxia realized that she'd probably asked a rather silly question.

Since the elevator traveled directly to the floor, it didn't stop along the way, and they soon arrived at the top floor where the CEO's office was located.

"Miss Lin, this way, please!" Qi Han politely gestured in the direction they were heading.

Banxia began to feel nervous again as she walked. The floor beneath her feet was covered in a plush, noiseless carpet. Outside the pristine and gleaming glass windows, the entire cityscape lay in view, magnificent and awe-inspiring.

Standing here felt akin to standing at the apex of a pyramid—a sensation that inexplicably unsettled her.

What kind of mindset must a man like Huo Yanting have, sitting atop such lofty heights?

Qi Han knocked on the office door for her. When it opened, he made a welcoming gesture.

Banxia's delicate face was pale from nerves. She gripped her handbag tightly and forced herself to step forward.

As soon as she entered, she was struck by the sheer size of the office—spacious, grand, with a cold color palette that perfectly matched the man's aura.

The grey-toned desk and chairs, paired with the cool grey sofas, only amplified Banxia's feeling of suffocation.

The man was seated upright in his office chair. His crisp white shirt collar and black business suit added to his sharp appearance. His neatly slicked-back, short black hair highlighted a commanding presence that was both intimidating and aggressive.

Looking at this man, Banxia felt her heart start racing. Her mouth went dry, and her mind blanked, unsure of what to say.

"You came to see me in such a hurry. What's the matter? Come closer." The man spoke, his voice devoid of coldness or aggression—just a light, calm inquiry.

Banxia bit her lower lip and stiffly stepped forward to his desk.

"Mr. Huo, I've come to propose another deal with you." Banxia drew a deep breath, trying her best to steady her voice.

"What kind of deal?" Huo Yanting lifted his eyes. His deep, brooding gaze seemed to lock onto her face, pale with nervousness. "Don't be nervous. I won't eat you—at least, not here..."

Banxia couldn't help but shiver slightly. Did this man really have to be so suggestive?

He said he wouldn't eat her, but she'd offered herself up today precisely to be devoured by him. If he didn't, how would her plan work?

"Before we talk about that, I want to ask you something. Do... do you like me?" Banxia's last few words were so faint they sounded like the buzz of a mosquito, barely audible.
