[16/12/2018,]
The next day, the villa came to life as more people arrived. May’s family was the first to arrive around 8 a.m., and the two boys instantly caused a ruckus, waking the entire house. They were excited to explore and have some fun and didn’t want to wait for everyone to slowly wake up.
"Come on, everyone! Get up! There’s snow outside!" May’s younger brother, Reece exclaimed as he barged into the girl’s room. They were all in the middle of rem sleep as they slept off their jet lag and last night’s late shenanigans. So it was understandable that they weren’t in the best of mood at having their dreams interrupted.
Not even thinking about it the girls picked up the nearest object at hand and launched it after him. Before Reece could even realise what was happening he was hit with an alarm clock, pillow and makeup bag which socked him on the face. "GET OOOOUT!" all three exclaimed in uncanny synchronicity before he could even complain.
Reece scrambled out of the room, laughing despite the barrage of objects. "Alright, alright! I’ll wait downstairs," he called back, rubbing his face where the makeup bag had landed. "told you it was a bad I dea," Bennet his best friend told him from the side of the door as he watched his friend with a hint of amusement.
Downstairs, May’s parents were busy unpacking as they chatted with the Rex couple who had already started making breakfast. 20 Minutes later as they were catching up a knock on the door interrupted them followed by a bark. Ben went to open the door only to meet three figures cloaked in thick winter jackets.
"Welcome come in," He told them leading in the 3 figures consisting of young Olivia, her mother, and Lexi’s who had brought Zeus with her. She was a vet by trade but a highly sought-after earning quite the penny and had thus decided to take care of Zeus’s journey across the Atlantic.
"Good Morning Ben," the three women quickly exchanged greetings with him as he led them through the grand foyer to the kitchen lounge where the other adults were. "Hope your flights were good, oh and Olivia the girls are upstairs if you want to join them," He replied with a smile as he gave the girl a polite excuse to leave the adults and join her friends.
"Thanks, Mr Rex, and hello everyone" she replied with a smile as she charged for the stairs carrying one of her many bags. Zeus sldo followed suit wanting to explore his new environment until he picked up a familiar scent.
The canine put his prised nose to use ignoring all the sweet scent that his human owners loved around this time of the year. Finding his destination he came to a stop before a door only for Liv to arrive a second later. Noticing the dog’s actions confused Liv but she decided to open the door for him before continuing on her way.
She knew where the girl’s room was noticing May’s familiar makeup bag outside a door. So she didn’t know why Zeus had stopped before a random door. Her question was answered the next second as Rakim’s laughing voice resounded followed by the dogs barking.

They had decided to start the day with some skiing. The nearby slopes offered a range of trails, from beginner to advanced, ensuring that everyone could find something that suited their skill level. They strapped on their skis and made their way to the lift.
"This is going to be Legendary," Bennet said, grinning as they ascended the mountain. Recce sitting next to him matched his energy still on a sugar high from all the maple syrup he consumed for breakfast. "Let’s do backflips on the way down," He responded to his friend sounding quite confident in his abilities to pull it off,"
"Have you guys ever skied before?" Rakim asked from the side after hearing how ridiculous their boasting continued to get. They were acting as if they could do circus flips as they barrelled down the slope. "No, not really but it can’t be that different from the WII, I kill at that," Reece replied with a confident nod as he strapped on his helmet jumping off the lift in the next second.
"It’s nothing Like the Wii trust me, boys," Ben exclaimed with a hint of worry as he jumped off after the boys as they reached their slope. None of the boys took his warnings to heart though more excited to get the action started.
The crisp mountain air hit their faces as they stood at the top of their chosen slope. It was a medium-sized one relatively safe for beginners and those trying to warm up for the day. The girls who had taken the earlier lift waited for them at a nearby flat area with a lot more tourists. n𝚘𝚟pub.𝚌o𝚖
Arriving next to them they took in the breathtaking view in front of them. The slopes stretched out below them, covered in a thick layer of pristine snow. The boys looked down with wide eyes, their previous confidence wavering slightly as they realized the steepness of the descent.
"Ready for this, boys?" May asked, adjusting her goggles. Reece and Bennet exchanged a glance before nodding. "Ready as we’ll ever be," Benette said, his earlier enthusiasm returning but Reece stayed oddly silent.
"Alright kids you all took part in the training, just make S shapes down the slopes and duck legs, other than that have hun and don’t go in a straight line," Mr Parker instructed the kids before prompting the first one to go. It was only he and Ben who took the kids skiing as the girls chose to go for winter spar day instead.
The kids were all nervous as no one was willing to go first until May and Emma suddenly pushed Rakim forward. Not able to react in time he pushed off, the edge and scrambled to position his legs like the instructor had taught him. "Remember S Shapes," the two girls shouted with glee as they watched him accelerate down the slope.
Seeing what the girls did Reece and Bennet didn’t dare to hesitate lest they be next. Thus they pushed off, following the more experienced skiers down the slope. Reece and Bennet wobbled at first, their skis awkwardly sliding in different directions, but they quickly found their balance, guided by the patient instructions of the others.
Emma led the girls quickly surpassing the two, carving graceful turns in the snow, with May, Olivia, and Lexi following closely. Ben followed from the back offering tips and encouragement as they navigated the trail. No one noticed Mr Parker hopping on a lift and heading down the mountain with a relieved expression.
"Lean into the turns," Ben advised, demonstrating as he spoke. "And keep your weight centered." Reece nodded, mimicking his movements. Bennet, on the other hand, was more focused on speed, trying to keep up with the girls ahead.
"Wait for us!" he called, laughing as he sped up, only to lose control and fall into a soft snowbank. Ben stopped, helping Bennet back to his feet. "Take it easy. It’s not a race." Bennet brushed the snow off his jacket, grinning sheepishly. "Got it. Slow and steady."
May and Emma couldn’t help but laugh as they watched Bennet brush himself off. "You’ll get the hang of it," May called out encouragingly. "Just take your time."
With everyone back on their feet, they continued down the slope, each finding their rhythm. The mountains echoed with their laughter and shouts of excitement. Even Reece, who had been initially silent, started to enjoy the rush of skiing down the snowy slopes.
Rakim on the other hand was having a completely different experience as he tried his best to stay alive. All the advice he had received from the instructor went out the window the moment he was pushed down the slope. Adrenalin hit as he scrambled to steady himself and once he did he started picking up speed.
