The sin of murder will cause the Fire of Sin to deal a lethal blow to an enemy. The higher the number of murders that the enemy had committed, the more lethal blows they would receive from the Sin of Fire.
The damage of the Sin of Fire is entirely dependent on the number of sins, not the spiritual power of the judge or the spiritual power of the enemy. The spiritual power of the judge who uses the Fire of Sin only affects how fast the Fire burns and how quickly it damages the enemy.
But the murder of a lamp bearer means that the enemy will surely die after the fire of sin is used against it. The god of justice has decreed it, so the Fire of Sin will involve the power of a god as long as the enemy has killed a lamp bearer before.
Because of the decree of the god of justice, it doesn't matter how long it will take, the sin of killing a lamp bearer will lead to death when the fire of sin is used.
So this move is enough to kill the mutant killer. Unfortunately, it can't kill the mutant killer immediately. The mutant was on fire, but it could still fight, and it could still kill someone before dying.
Captain Sheckel has been forced to use the Fire of Sin on her enemy too. The Shackles divine ability didn't work on the traveler because it was too fast.
The traveler was always able to dodge the Shackles divine ability because even though it didn't have human intelligence, it still retained the rank 2 divine ability called Seeking Danger and Fortune.
Thanks to the rank 2 divine ability of the pathway of travelers, the mutant could sense danger, identify its source, and escape from it. No matter how many times she used Shackles, it always ended as a waste of time and spiritual energy.
So she decided to use the Fire of Sin divine ability. This rank 3 divine ability managed to hit the traveler because it worked in conjunction with the rank 2 divine ability called the Eyes of Sin.
This divine ability is why the eyes of judges are white. They can see the amount of sin that someone has committed. Once they see this sin, they can set it on fire with their rank 3 divine ability.
So the Fire of Sin is an ability that is nearly impossible to dodge. For most entities, it is a sure hit. Even this rank 3 mutant traveler couldn't avoid it.
She didn't wait for the mutant traveler to kill a lamp bearer before she used the Fire of Sin on it. This made it uncertain that the Fire of Sin will kill it. But considering all the people the mutant had killed recently and the fact that the person who set it on fire is a rank 4 judge, then the traveler is likely to die.
Legion saw this and thought to themselves, "It is no wonder why the god of killing died. These two abilities alone are enough to cripple those who kill for a living."
Legion-11 said, "Of course that's because the god of killing and this mutant aren't fast enough. If they were fast enough, then they would be able to dodge the attack."
They admired the ability because it is something that they are susceptible to. After all, they had to kill three people to advance to rank 2 on the pathway of killer. So there is no way that the Fire of Sin won't be deadly to them.
But just as they can deduce their susceptibility to the Fire of Sin, they can also deduce ways to avoid it. They already have three ways to deal with it. These solutions lie with the Path of Undying, the pathway of slavery, and the pathway of travelers.
Just as they were impressed with Captain Sheckel, there was a massive change with the mutant giant that they were fighting. The bullheaded giant roared in anger and broke the white chains binding it.
Legion wasn't surprised by this. As the strongest mutant here, it had the highest chance to break its shackles.
Just like the traveler who could break the divine ability with speed, a giant could also break the divine ability with strength. This was why they didn't want to get stuck with the giant by impaling it with their hand and why they never stayed close to it for too long.
They had just attacked it and stepped back when it broke its shackles. A lamp bearer beside them on the pathway of giants was fighting the mutant with a large club. This put the lamp bearer in close quarters with the giant, so it became the recipient of a punch.
The lamp bearer was also a giant, but he was just at rank 2. The mutant, on the other hand, was at rank 3 and had the rank 3 divine ability called Overload, which can be used to release a single terrifying attack in exchange for exhausting all their reserves.
With Overload, even a rank 5 godclad might not be able to match the strength of a rank 3 giant. So the rank 2 lampbearer's situation was hopeless. The punch slammed into his head and crushed it.
The mutant killed a lamp bearer. But it became weak because Overload had exhausted it. Legion decided to trigger all the death marks that they have accumulated on its body.
The explosion was silent. There was only a flash of red light, and it was over. The giant began to crack. The cracks extended from its head to its toes.
The giant bellowed in pain. But the injury wasn't enough to put it down completely. It was just weak and critically injured.
The giant knelt on the ground, unable to stand. It looked ready to keel over. All it needed was the final nail in the coffin to kill it.
Legion knew this, but they stepped back after triggering the death marks. They did so in order to pretend to be on the run out of spiritual energy.
